The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (light novel)
| I think it's purpose was to make it an memorable anime and to remove the "fans" of haruhi. Only the real fans saw it. What was the purpose in your opinion ? |

| Simple. It was to drive on the patience of the fans -- right down to the ground. Then when the end finally comes, it appears better than it actually is. Not just that, it make people feel impatience and the torture of it - such that we can pretty much relate to Nagato, who in character has the same or similar perspective on the time loop as we do. We know what's going on; but we can't do a thing about it (other than bitch). To think, some had gone as far as destroying their memoribilia in protest. LOL. I remember some people's comments after the first Endless Eight episodes. It was something like this: "Oh, is that it?" "OK, let's move on and see what's next." (Those who read the novels in their eyes, that was it.) But, because Endless Eight got looped -- we're not going to forget it. >:D |

| Being the hardcore otaku that I am, I was really pissed with the "Endless Eight" arc. I think they just got lazy when writing the story. I can see 4 episodes, but 8? That's just too much. |

| I don't think there was a purpose, they probably made 8 episodes of Endless Eight because of well... the episode title. They also probably wanted the arc to last all Summer because the episodes does take place in Summer. I really have no idea, but I also heard that they gave the Endless Eight script to 8 groups to make the episodes and animate it. That would explain the different animation qualities in the episodes and why after Endless Eight ended, the animation went back to the first season style. Quote from old article where the director of Haruhi's first season aplogizes: Yutaka Yamamoto a.k.a. "Yamakan," director of Haruhi's first season, offered his thoughts about the second season while attending Otakon 2009. Through his interpreter he stated that the "Endless Eight" concept came up while he was still onboard with KyoAni (he later left to direct Kannagi and form his own studio). He noted that he was against the idea, and that "two episodes was the most [they] can do." Clearly that advice did not stick, as the episode has been repeated five times to date. Source |
| I was just annoyed with it. I waited every week to see if Kyon finally figured it out, and got shot down 6 times til the 7th time loop (8th episode) where I went: "...REALLY?!" So yeah, I endured Endless Eight, but I think I lost some of my sanity in the process. I just hope the rest of this season redeems itself. |

| Oh, did I mention their purpose was to also piss off the voice actors? I'm sure the voice actor for Nagato got tired of saying how many times the Summer repeated. Koizumi's voice actor probably got tired of saying "I rab you" and Asahina's voice actor probably hurt her throat crying over the phone eight times. |
| i've heard that it was to allow the fans to feel how Yuki was feeling in that time and feeling her boredom of the repetition. i do not approve of this method, however, at least it's over and we can actually enjoy our favorite show now |

| Wow lol, nobody of you guys understood anything, and this from a lot of episodes repeated. Congrats guys! This proves that KyoAni made an awesome choice =D It reminds me of when Hideaki Anno had to face the raged fans for Evangelion's Ending and then answered with The End of Evangelion. Pure genius. |
