\why is this anime liked?

As a fan of Gachiakuta, I do have to concur that Gachiakuta starts in a slightly generic and predictable manner. Still, that doesn't mean its start was a bad one.

I personally think the story picks up over time. Although the plot never becomes anything completely unique, its use of mystery and the overall execution becomes amazing a few arcs in. Furthermore, the world definitely is unique, and coolness points are assigned. Not to mention how well the characters are written; they still feel shōnen-y, but they develop as characters much better than most other battle shōnen out there.

Overall, Gachiakuta is a battle shōnen. However, it's a really well-executed one, with things of its own to bring to the table.

I mean it is literally about trash. And it's below average trash shonenm what did you expect, all the kids like shonen trash shows so this is just like a double combo, so it's to be expected.

Yes I gave Gantz a 7, because it's stupid, over the top and it had the balls to do full on gore and rape without portraying it's MC as good guy but instead an awful and selfish prick, and it at least was trying to do something more original than usual trash shonen, like Garbageakuta. Even more so in the manga.

Do not get me started on the racism, misogyny and homophobia Gantz has as well as that fucking dog licking a woman's vagina which isn't needed for a series about an alien death game and uses ridiculous and unneeded amounts of fanservice (this is even more for the manga) that makes even stuff that's supposed to be focused on fanservice such as Highschool DXD, Dead Or Alive, Ikkitousen, Kenichi, Neptunia and Senran Kagura blush. Yeah right Gantz is more "better written" than something like Dragon Ball except it's not and one last thing, please don't get drunk on wanting originality as stuff with originality can be garbage as well and Gantz is one of them!

@SOT_Daemon I'm sorry that you are a snowflake who get's offended with things that are in Gantz manga, and justifiably so, because all of those things exist and it's even more so justifiable because they are in a alien death game where most of the participants are killed, so most of them are actual criminals, psychopaths and similar people who now got the power to do these things without any reciprocation as long as they keep filling the quota that the game demands. Comparing pure ecchi shows in the like of HigschoolDxD, Neptunia, Senran Kagura is laughable, they are just goon material with zero redeeming quality about them except the nudity and arguably art.
Yes Gantz have schlock elements, and just that makes it stand out and be more entertaining than most of the usual shonen slop, it helps that it's better written and has better art than most of the similar "death game so edgy" slop anime/manga, not to mention it's older than most of them.

What does Gachiakuta has? Garbage. It's funny how we have come full circle, where garbage genre uses literal garbage for it's "power" system and world building. It can't be more ironic than that. It's literally bog standard MC is super spesshulu bullshit with the same plot and same side characters than every other below average shonen there is.

Gantz is very sexist like most of the women are treated as only sex objects, rape and death fodder, black people are treated like garbage as one of them is a homosexual rapist which also counts as homophobia as well as the manga literally having a man paint himself as blackface to go on a massacre like yes this isn't the first time anime has problematic shit but jesus fucking christ it makes even Katsura Hashino (original Persona director) look less problematic, while yes HigschoolDxD, Neptunia, Senran Kagura are mostly gooner stuff, they at least have strong badass women who can kick ass, better written and more personality, defend themselves, aren't rape fodder and are treated more than just sex objects unlike most of the female Gantz characters looking at you Kishimoto. Yeah right Gantz is well written my ass most of the characters are unlikable dumbasses who do stupid shit such as hesitating to shoot, screaming like banshees and don't forget Kei Kurono almost got everyone killed if it wasn't for Nishi during the first alien death game by being a whiny bitch wanting to go home and spouting moral dumb shit like dude you can defend yourself and your friends and kill the damn alien in fact he's more of an idiot than Goku and that's saying something, just because it has realistic themes doesn't make it well written hell I find Dragon Ball to be more mature and better written. Get out of your blind elitist Seinen mancave like a full grown adult and accept that Seinen aren't perfect either! Guess what Gantz is more cringe than most of the shit Disney makes (even the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy) and I'd rather watch any of the cringy shit Disney churns out moreso than reading/watching Gantz. Gantz has the same immaturity as Fanboy & Chum Chum (at least that one is aimed for kids so I'll let that pass more often even though it's really dumb and I hate it too) and hell I find that even worse since Gantz is supposed to be aimed for adults yet it feels like it was written by an edgy 2 year old hack with lack of good writing skills and only finds shock value to try to make it interesting but fails miserably. Though to be fair I'll say Gantz is better written than Fire Punch which is purely only edgy shock value shit. Gantz does have redeeming qualities but they feel washed by most of the tasteless flaws the franchise has so you'll not gaslight me into liking it so suck it!
