Krai's just the leader by default because he's not crazy.

I think this whole thing would work better without Krai's internal monologue. At least that way there'd be some mystery about whether he's really smart or not.

Episode 10

It's onto the next arc after the Akashic Tower incident is settled. Sitri has adopted a cute little chimera named Drink as a pet. Sitri gives Krai a massage, then puts Marietta to work to craft a ring to increase her mana capacity. And after some fanservicey moments that Liz tried to pull off, it's onto the pub where some big-shot hunters led by Arnold of Falling Fog have arrived. But right off the bat, they stir up trouble causing another pub fight. Liz totally plays Arnold for a fool there before getting wasted there, and given his pride as a level 7 hunter, he's out for revenge. Not much happens here as it's all just setup for what's coming next.

Well that was probably the funniest episode. The thing with the recharging the relics was the best part imo.

The worst part is when they try to do the OPM thing where he he can't remember names right and says them all wrong.

Apparently Liz knows that Sitri is just as crazy as the rest of them and was behind that whole scenario.

I wouldn't mind seeing more of the elf girls. Kind of silly they didn't just call them elves.

Kind of weird the new group was called Falling Fog in the subs when you could clearly here them saying mist not fog. And mist sounds better too.

See how much better the part with him switching the drinks was without any internal monologue? That way you're not sure if he did it on purpose or not.

Episode 11

Chloe became a guild receptionist after getting owned by Luke in First Step's admission test. And then Arnold is about to show Krai that his level 8 status is a fraud whereas Arnold got his level 7 status the old fashioned way. Krai has Tino fight on his behalf, but didn't stand a chance against Arnold. Then Krai comes in with his one of his Thousand Tricks to pin Arnold down, and order him to attack the other guilds before getting a rematch. And then Chloe explains that she's quite happy with her job, all while Krai explains that she failed because she attempted the test a year too soon. Krai just keeps on finding a way once again as it looked liked Arnold was the type of guy who was going to exploit him for being a fraud, but he used gravity to turn things around.

Episode 12

With Krai having racked up quite a lot of debt due to his reckless spending that he digs up the archive room to see what can be sold to help pay it off, and he comes across a creepy-looking mask that allows the wearer to change his face. While Krai would love to wear it himself, there are quite a number of interested buyers from Arnold to the rich girl of Ark's party Eclair who is willing to give up her entire family's fortune to buy what she perceives as a game-changing relic. So in the end, the mask will go up for auction, and it turns out that Sitri has a secret stash of money she has been saving up. One more episode left to go as it will decide who takes possession of that mask.

I actually like this arc better the last one. It's not laugh out loud funny, but it's kind of amusing and it fits the tone of the show well.

As soon as he found out she wanted to give it to Ark he should have backed off and let her buy it since he could probably turn around and buy it off Ark. It will probably just end up getting smashed anyway.

Episode 13 (Finale)

The auction is on with 950 million gil of mostly Sitri's money in hand. After a number of tempting items went up for auction, there's the golem that was confiscated from Akashic Tower. As much as Krai wanted the golem, the bid goes insanely high and while Tiana went over the budget with a 1 billion gil bid, Greg wins it for 1.06 billion. As for the mask, Eclair won it intending to give it to Ark, but she would soon regret the purchase as the mask possessed her before she could give it to him, and Ark had to fight it to get it off her face. And then Krai's scheme to con Arnold and company comes to fruition as Sitri spiked their drinks with a poison that doesn't take effect until well after intaking it, and Sitri sold them an antidote for it at an exorbitant price. And after the mask was removed, Krai puts it on only to find out that he's incompatible with it. So in the end, the financial problems were dealt with, all while the Grieving Souls added a 7th member in a dark elf. Pretty amusing stuff there going to show that relics aren't going to fix everything, and it's up to the user to use it wisely.

Final Thoughts

This show is a mixed bag of really good, really fun, and really boring as the episodes varied widely between these qualities. That said, the show has a very creative concept, and the show was always at its best when it didn't try to do anything seriously, which applies to most of the episodes here. The characters are a fun bunch, all while Krai's antics are pretty amusing. On the flipside, the story writing was fragmented and hard to follow seeing that it just doesn't do the best of jobs building off of itself. In any case, the show is entertaining largely because of its creativity, if nothing else.

What was up with that auction building out of the 20th century? Is there some isekai'd person in this world too?

Mostly poor execution of the Ains/Shadow sort of trope where everything just works out for them while everyone around thinks they're a genius. Except Kai is more Homer Simpson then either of those characters. Heck, from what the mask said at the end there Homer could probably wipe the floor with him in a straight up fight. 5/10

As fairly funny as it has been, and as fairly appealing the characters maybe, this entire show just felt like it was about nothing at all. None of the story stuff I cared about. And when it comes to Krai's want-to-retire situation, they didn't really do a good job with that neither.

He went from being someone who couldn't careless and be bothered about anything but always ends up in very fortunate lucky situations anyway, to just another harem dude who knows what he got and takes advantage of it. The other characters lost any potential to be interesting as they become nothing more than one-dimensional obsess waifus of Krai.
The gimmick being poorly executed pisses me off since a big reason to watch this show is to watch him get pulled into problematic situations due to his misconceived "greatness" as he tries his darndest to get out of it, only to end up being lucky and getting the obstacle dealt with unintentionally. But by the latter part of the show, he's basically pretty much self-aware of everything, and it just becomes about the shenanigans of a dude who takes advantage of his "fake" status to get what he wants. It becomes much less interesting from there since there wasn't much to be interested about in the first place.

My only takeaway from this show is the OP theme, which reminds me of the good ol' grand energetic OP themes of the past.

I'd say that's very fair. Comedy and entertainment-wise, it did provide those well-enough at times, especially early-on. And the characters are quite appealing in their own right.

Hope that next season, they can execute Krai's gimmick much better and maybe have some proper obstacles for him to [unintentionally] deal with.

While it's also late, at least this episode is fully functional with the usual-looking subs and all.

Episode 14

To start the second cour, it's a flashback to when Tino became a member of the Grieving Souls five years ago, with that segment being shown in SD. Tino was just a street rat back then was about to get kidnapped and sold by a slave organization before Krai came in to beat the snot out of those thugs. Not only did they rescue Tino, but they brought down a slave trafficking organization that would catapult the reputation of the Grieving Souls. Seeing that it starts out with Tino background that this arc figures to be about her. I remember that this series just doesn't do things by the book, and I'm reminded of that right away.

Episode 15

For the next quest, the Grieving Souls head out to go hunting for sand rabbits, and in particular the giant one known as the Arena Rex. That quest didn't exactly go well, and that means Krai has his back against the wall seeing that he's on the verge of getting kicked out of the guild for failing to meet the quota. And then Krai gets himself into a scuffle with Arnold before Hidden Curse drops in to allow Krai to get away. While he is away, Krai disguises himself to return to the guild, and then decides to go on vacation knowing that Hidden Curse is taking care of the Akasha investigation. But as they leave, Hidden Curse and Akasha start a war with each other, all while the Grievers are traveling in the middle of a nasty storm. Looks like things are about to get messy, and Krai knew that this was coming, so he goes on vacation before he's caught up in this mess.

Still fun, and lots of Tino's cute butt. This show knows what it is and is extremely good at meeting those expectations. I liked the flashback(and how it was 4:3 ratio so you know when they switched back and forth), they were just as fun as kids as adults. Still don't get why they use a different name for their party despite it being in English, I cringe every time I hear them say it and then read the subtitles.

Pretty amusing episode here as the Grievers go on a vacation, but are unaware of what's happening around them as they enjoy themselves as if nothing is wrong. While they are enjoying themselves, Arnold and the Foggers are on an escort mission where they have to fight orcs, a lightning spirit that caused thunderstorms to wreck one town, and a fire spirit that's threatening to burn down Gula. And it doesn't help that one of Sitri's concoctions attracted all those orcs. At least Arnold and company were on top of things, but Krai ought to know better when to be in vacation mode, all while it didn't help that Liz taunted Arnold after the Foggers were hailed as heroes. Once again, this goes to show why Krai is known as Thousand Tricks as he used a number of them on this trip already.

They end up fighting monsters with one of them a more monsterized version of Arnold. Tino ends up putting on the mask and transforming into Super Tino, and while she's quite strong, her body isn't used to it as it takes quite a toll on it. So after that, the Grivers get away, and they head off to a hot springs town next.

It's off to the hot springs resort town for what should have been a relaxing trip, but it ends up being more trouble for Krai and company. There was a dragon that they ended up having to beat up. Then Arnold and the Foggers stumble in as they are all wiped out after all that fighting, and they end up taking a dip themselves. And then that night some spirit inside a hole ends up dragging Krai into it. Then the next morning, the Barrel gang invades the town and takes over it, trapping everybody in it. This is not what Krai had imagined when they went on vacation.

Quite a dangerous situation here as Krai has been captured by Cave People that inhabit the underground, all while the Barrel gang has taken everybody in the hot springs town hostage. And on top of that, the hot springs dragon is quite angry and is about to take out his anger on the town. But Krai has become friends with the demons thanks to one of his spells that transforms himself into one of the Cave People and he even speaks their language, all while it turns out that the dragon Krai met in the hot springs is that god's child. So Krai leverages the situation to use that monster to defeat the Barrel gang. It's pretty funny how things worked out in the end, but it goes to show that if there's one thing Krai is good at, it's taking advantage of the situation.

The Grievers are finally back from vacation as they picked a bad time to take it with so much chaos built up while they were away. But before they get back onto the battlefield, there's a formal event that everybody dresses up for as they meet the king of Zebrudia. While they are just supposed to be tasty souvenirs, the dragon egg snacks from the hot springs town is generating suspicion. But then an enemy shows up and crashes the party by some guy known simply as Fox. Rosemary ends up being reckless there in fighting back against the Fox and ends up causing a lot of damage to the place. After that, Krai is given a special mission as apparently he's given some special rug to sweeten the deal. And once again, Krai is in the middle of some chaotic developments from the gifts from the hot springs town to an attack on Zebrudia.

After what happened, Krai is trying to figure out who is available to take on the mission he is entrusted with to protect the emperor, all while he's letting the magic carpet get to his head. So the Grievers gather to talk about the one known as the Fox that is after the king's life. So after a lot of preparation, or not, Krai embarks on his mission having teamed up with Telm and Kechachakka on the quest with Lapis and Kris coming along as well, while donning a Hawaiian shirt that is said to protect the wearer in any condition. So the operation begins with Krai going into the palace while Sitri sends her monster pals, though things get out of hand, all while it turns out that Kechachakka is a member of Fox. Once again, this goes to show that some guys aren't exactly taking things as seriously as they should, all while Krai is lucking into so many things.

And once again, Krai is using his words to make others do all the hard work as they come across a bunch of dragons, which Sitri is responsible for attracting, all while the assassins are gathering. The dragons were easily dealt with, but there's a mole among them and the Emperor is aware of that. And then Krai buys some nuts that are off-limits to mages since they interfere with their magic abilities as Kris would find out the hard way. And then Krai has a private conversation with Telm and Kechachakka as they are revealed to be two tails of the Fox, but instead of ratting them out Krai forms an alliance with them. Krai sure knows how to weasel his way out of doing all the heavy lifting once again, and it will be interesting to see how things go as Team Wall Bolognese is out to assassinate the Emperor and Krai is apparently helping them out.

I'm not sure what they were doing with 'wall of spaghetti/bolognese'.

The end narrator said their current party structure went beyond being a yami nabe and became an abyss nabe. A 'dark hot pot' yami nabe is where everyone brings ingredients for a pot and they get added without others necessarily knowing what ingredients they'll be eating. Saying an abyss hot pot implies it's even more dark and sinister than the dark hot pot. But it isn't a real thing.
