| at this point the only social event i still attend, went to two different ones in a row during the last two weekends, probably attended 50/60 at this point starting from 2007, began going in cosplay most of the times since 2015, i would be completely socially dead without. From retrogaming to possible meet and greets with italian voice actors to (especially) the lottery chances of meeting rare cosplayers of series i like, they are able to make me feel actually alive and leave (mostly...) my pathetic loser status at home for some hours. The possibilities are unbelievable... at the second-to-last one i went as Atsushi Otani from Lovely Complex and someone actually recognized me, at the last one i didn't cosplay but met a couple of girls impersonating Otani himself and Risa Koizumi from the same series and didn't want to stop talking with them after the photos, they seemed so happy as well for being recognized by someone else. Hell, when i call someone asking for a picture and tell the character's name out loud in public but aware they will understand, especially if it's not of a current mainstream popular series, it seems so weird and satisfying at the same time. sq |
