Plot Summary

The story starts with Sanda, a second year middle school student, getting attacked with a kitchen knife by his classmate Fuyumura. While Sanda couldn't make sense of the situation at first, he gradually came to believe that Fuyumura's actions were just mean acts stemming off from the latter having a peculiar puberty phase.

But that was all actually a misunderstanding. Fuyumura is seriously questioning if Sanda is actually the descendant of a certain family...

Episode 1

A show appropriate for the fall season since it ends with Christmas, here is a show about a guy who is a descendant of Old St. Nick, but he's refusing to acknowledge it. He turns into Santa when he wears red, transforms back when he eats a special kind of jellybean, and he's resistant to fire as Fuyumura tries to blow herself up only for Sanda to step in and take the blow. It's pretty clear that this is by the same guy who did Beastars as Fuyumura has Legoshi's face there. Pretty entertaining way to start things off with this show as this figures to be a nice show for the holidays.

What a premise. Has that frenetic feel to it a bit like Dandadan, only with a psychotic edge to it.

This is the kind of unique ideas that I love seeing Mangakas come up with! How imaginative can you be to think of Santa Claus this way? Santa as a buff old Shounen man, and he's being extorted by a Victor Van Dort-looking lesbian? Love to see it! (Brings back the good old days of unique Anime.)

Episode 2

The situation for Japan's youth is quite dire there as Amaya ends up resorting to underhand tactics to force Sanda to transform. His family runs a cake shop, but with demand down due to the youth population declining so sharply that it's about to go out of business. So he kidnaps Sanda and it forces him to unleash another one of his powers, the sleigh. And then comes the school's headmaster Oshibu, who is 92 years old, but thanks to implants and other technological advances he only looks 92 in his hands. But seeing that Santa is supposed to embrace children, whether naughty or nice, that naturally Santa won't harm a child, and while he's right to be skeptical about children trying to play the victim here, Amaya was telling the truth as apparently Santa has a special ability to tell truth from lies, though that's apparently a work in progress seeing that he could see Amaya's cake shop from miles away. So Amaya promises to keep a secret, but now the headmaster has established himself as the Big Bad as apparently the school is part of whatever sinister scheme he has cooked up and Santa is his biggest obstacle in the way.

That was really good. Sanda seeing the kids through Santa's eyes was great.

There's certainly something up with how Fuyumura knew he was Santa. Didn't they say something about her name meaning winter village? Hmmmm....

This just keeps getting weirder and weirder. Which is good. And it's true, no matter how much work you have done to your face you can still tell someone's age by their hands. Google Madonna's...if you dare.

Episode 3

Another one of Sanda's special abilities is lie detection as something around him will fall if he hears a lie, and seeing that happened when someone said Ono is dead triggered it. And for awhile he saw Ono, but when chasing her she disappeared out of thin air. But in the meantime Oshibu is ramping up is subjugation of Santa by ordering a funeral for Ono where everybody is dressed in red rather than black as is tradition, and it was clear that this was designed to subjugate Santa rather than to remember Ono. And he has a subjugation squad of his own as Yagiuda shoots Sanda that causes his blood to transform him into Santa. It's clear now that whatever Oshibu's end game is, it will land him at the top of the naughty list.

Episode 4

Sanda gets kicked in the junk, and that's when he becomes aware that it's the same size as a grown man's. So he fights Yagiuda in the nude and then crashes Ono's funeral as after all, she isn't dead yet based on Santa's lie detector test. So in the midst of everything, Fuyumura manages to keep Santa's real identity a secret with that smoke bomb she threw after the class saw the musclehead fight. Pretty humorous stuff about how Santa's body is so well-built and stuff, while the class idolizes him as God-Pa to the point where somebody even sells plushies of him.

Yup, yup, yup. I suspected the decline in child birth wasn't something that happened organically. It's simply not something that could happen to that level and this is too god of a story to overlook something so obvious.

This is blowing away everything else this season that's for sure.

And apparently adult genitalia o_0 also given the statute of David is less than proportional in that area Fuyumura must have been even more surprised. I guess the point was Santa is everything adults try to hide from kids? Not sure, this show is weird.

"And down through the ceiling came good Saint Dick..."

When Fuyumara hugged him, he was thinking something about "this is really hard... No, I have to stop thinking this way!" And then they widen to show Fuyumara looking down at his crotch. I have to believe that someone in the production team was doing that as a joke, but they didn't follow up on it...

Episode 5

There's a new teacher at school, and it's the same guy who fought Santa and is one of Oshibu's minions who was brought in to subjugate Santa. But while he has a grudge against Santa, he will only attack Santa and not Sanda as hitting kids goes against his philsophy. Which is a good thing seeing that all of the sudden Sanda somehow lost his ability to transform. And then Fuyumura's relationship with Ono is finally explained as simply put, they are in love with each other. And while they are both girls, Fuyumura doesn't exactly identify herself as a she. Then the whole growing up thing is explained as in this society children grow up much quicker than normal, and it's dangerous to sleep as that could mean losing one's childhood prematurely. One other thing is that everybody wears the boys uniform at the academy to discourage attraction to the opposite sex. So a new teacher arrives, and a lot of info dumping in the second half about Ono and why school is the way it is.

Yeah, if they truly don't need to sleep, then why waste time lying in bed for 8 hours. Also, why do they not want them to go through puberty? If the entire goal is to increase procreation, having them start as early as possible should be the key.

Starting to get vibes of Promised Neverland or the parts of Heavenly Delusion where the kids are in the facility. Also mild Shadow House vibes

For a show with a Calvin and Hobbes art style which is about freaking Santa Claus, it somehow manages to get way hotter and sexier than all the bare-breasted massages in Hands off: Sawaranaide Kotesashi-kun. This is damn well-done. And that headmaster is dialing his Mr. Burns role up to 11.

I gotta admit, 14-year-old me would have been absolutely enthralled with Niko. And Fuyumura. And probably every other female in the school, including the teacher.

Damn, now this show even makes sleeping weird. Won't you die without sleep? And why does Fuyumura look like the only one who doesn't get any sleep when she is the only one who does? The takes on Fuyumura's body by herself and everyone else is quite...something. And I like Niko, way to throw another weirdo into the mix.

@HOOfan_1 Well they didn't just come out and say it, but I got the strong impression that that's what was going on when the guy was explaining to Santa why they didn't want him around. It sounds like whoever is in control in this world has a pretty tight grip on everything that's happening so it seems to me that the natural conclusion is that they're also responsible for the birthrate decline.

I was wondering how the show was gonna handle the relationship between Sanda and Saburo since it was quite obvious that he was gonna be a friendly oji-san in some way. Turns out, he's gonna be forced to help Sanda become Santa again or else, his can't complete his mission of killing Santa. xD

I liked that the Fuyumura being a bi/lesbian makes sense now-- she knows he's not a male, but also doesn't feel feminine enough to be female. But when she's with Ono, she's just who she is-- Fuyumura.

He's definitely trying to project his own fears of aging to the rest of the youth. He's likely afraid of dying, or at least the helpless feeling of a dying old man, seeing as he uses his aged heart as a form of punishment.

Episode 6

And now, an episode that's largely focused on the headmaster as Oshibu has gone through numerous plastic surgeries and joint replacements with artificial limbs and stuff to look youthful everywhere except in the hands. He picks a fight with Santa as Sanda now has an outfit that he can fight in as St. Nick. He's stronger now that he understands his power better and that comes from kids sleeping, which also accelerates their maturity. And then the head of the academy Tetsudome comes in to stop the fight as Oshibu's skin starts peeling off like Frankenstein while his eyes are artificial. Unlike with Oshibu, Tetsudome has maintained her appearance and is pretty tough for somebody her age. Tetsudome is a stark contrast to Oshibu as she's a nice old lady in comparison. And with that, Ono has been found and is back at school, but it turns out she has been starting to grow a bust, so she's pretty close to being all grown up, and it looks like that's going to cause some big problems.

Principal creepier and creepier, so all of society is whack in this.
Such an odd scene at the end Fuyumura finally reunited with Ono and just ignores her to go laughing off with Sanda. I guess it was to show they were still acting like the kids they are and her, now an adult, is on the outside and can't go back to acting like a kid. Still weird though.

Episode 7

And now, Sanda encounters the ultimate naughty children as everybody in class 2-10 killed an adult, but because of the law, they have complete immunity for such an act. Class 2-10 is considered the underworld and Tetsudome directed Sanda to go to see them, needing to survive them to get the answers he need. As Santa, he's put in quite a tight situation there as those kids are out for blood and mean business as Sanda is forced to choose between himself and his philosophy to grant the kids their wish. But in comes Fuyumura to the rescue just when it looked like Sanda was not going to get through this.

Episode 8

All Fuyumura does is let the naughty children of Class 10 know that they have gotten sloppy with their looks, which provides enough of a distraction for Sanda to get away. Then Sanda falls into a tight spot as Santa can't fall in love with a child, but he's assigned to marry Kazao and she's trying to kiss him. He nearly blows his cover there when he gets blood on his shirt, but takes it off just before he completes his transformation, and then is just left off with a peck than a kiss. And then Yagiuda reminds him that he has a grudge against Santa. Then comes the Peak of Youth ceremony and Oshibu has sent Namatame to kill any adults there, which puts Ono in danger, all while Namatame attacks Oshibu to prove that he is as immortal as he says he is. Lots of bad blood going on here, none more so than from Namatame as she will stop at nothing to purge the world of adults, all while Sanda doesn't want to fall in love with Kazao, but it's getting increasingly more difficult to do so.

Sanda is going through some training by Tetsudome as Namatame is threatening to kill Santa, but while he's strong, he's not mentally prepared. So he unlocks his transformation into Black Santa for this reason. So he goes to kill Namatame, but doesn't find the opening to do so and instead listens to her story about wanting to hold her mother's hands before she amputated it, and Namatame killed her mother as a result. And then Ono shows off her adult body to Fuyumura as the two have a hardcore yuri moment there, but Fuyumura ends up running away in the nude and has a wish for Santa to turn Ono back to a kid seeing that she's too young to have a body like that. So with that, Santa has two wishes that are just about impossible to fulfill without some sort of miracle happening as he's in quite a tough spot.

OK Namatame makes sense now o_O Sadly Ono does not, girl gets boobs and she and everyone around her treat her different, why? Since when did developing breasts completely change someone so drastically? Besides don't most girls "mature" more when they start menstuating? They have that clear cut biological line of "you are now an adult", and why guys stay immature, they have no definite overnight occurance. I mean I could buy all the Ono stuff if these kids were younger but all these girls have obviously hit puberty already. They even made a point of showing Niko's breasts rubbing against Sanda when she was trying to kiss him, why isn't she an "adult"?
