Episode 1

Where things left off, Bam is still reeling from his best friend betraying him. While he's trying to regain his composure and motivation, the story shifts to Wangnan, who is stuck on the 20th floor as there the weaklings are truly weeded out. To get to the next floor, he needs to be at least an E-rank and pass an advancement test that's expensive to take and extremely difficult to pass. For this test, there are ten takers, and among them is a FUG member, the faction that opposes the Jahads, and that long-haired dude is actually Bam. So with the first exam, Bam fights two other applicants while Wangnan is trying his best to avoid Bam, but with 20 seconds left Bam comes for him, and time runs out before he could hit him. And thus, this show continues and there are still quite a lot of questions here as to what role Wangnan plays and how Bam ended up turning into that person with such a deadpan personality.

Glad to have this back. This first episode covered approximately 5.3 chapters of the Manwha; from season 2 chapter 0 to a third of season 2 chapter 5. I'll be very curious to see how many episodes this season will have, as well as the how they pace it. On average, the first season covered 6-7 chapters per episode.

On another note, the studio making the adaptation also changed. The first season was adapted by Telecom Animation Film. This season is being adapted by the Answer Studio; which I'm not too familiar with their works. Hopefully they do a good job.

Episode 2

Now that the test is underway, the guys who made it past the first test are introduced and among them are the loan shark Wangnan owes money to in Lurker, Yihwa, a direct descendant of the Yeon family, and Prince, the son of a company CEO. The second test is a physical strength assessment, which is bad news for Wangnan, and Bam, going under the alias of Jue Viole Grace, absolutely dominates. But in a twist, it's not the eight strongest who advance, but the person with the highest score chooses the other seven. So after everybody makes their cases, Bam chooses nobody, which is not an option since the next test requires a team. Seeing that Bam insists he goes at it alone, he is set to play a special game where if he wins he can advance alone, but if he loses he must follow the rules. So in the meantime, the test takers take a break, and Bam ends up becoming roommates with Yihwa while he finds a Jahad accessory that belongs to Wangnan. It's no wonder why so few pass this test as this is something that will weed out the frauds, and even more so if Bam gets his way. Just like in the previous season, these test takers stay in some luxurious accommodations while they take the test. It will be interesting to see what happens here as from the look of things, the promo poster shows which eight are moving on as Bam loses the game, and Wangnan is among the chosen.

@runec I don't remember season 1 that well either, but enough to know that season 2 feels like there was a huge time jump and the stuff in season 1 doesn't even really matter

@runec For now, all you need to remember is that Bam suffered a brutal betrayal at the hands of his childhood friend Rachel at the end of the season. Bam is now that long-haired dude going by the name of Viole, which that betrayal had a big role in, but it remains to be seen how.

Episode 3

Everybody is chilling waiting for the next task, but little did they know that the next test begins just when everybody was about to go to bed. This test called the Trustworthy Room involves forming a team of seven and stealing six rooms with Yihwa's being the last, and for Bam, his test is to steal the test proctor Love's connector and use it to steal Yihwa's room. It begins with Bam stealing Yihwa's connector with ease, then he goes out to confront the test proctor and is having a tough time with him. While that's going on, Wangnan starts to build a team himself starting with Nia and Goseng, but things turn deadly in this game as Robdevil is killed. This test goes to show that there are Regulars who can't be trusted, and one wrong move means failing.

So, I'm assuming that they are all starting from square 1 and Bam is starting out at the bottom of the tower again.

There's got to be a lot of story from between Rachel betraying him and now with his long hair, taller stature and edgelord attitude.

A little kid going through all of this seems kinda suspect. Where did she get the money to take the test? Seems someone, even one of the impartial rankers should probably say "it ain't happening kid"....that is unless she's not really a kid, but using this act to get others to help pull her up the tower, or stab them in the back later.

Then again, what did creepy lady get out of trying to kidnap her or whatever?

The cliffhanger at the end of this episode did get me excited to see what happens next though.

@HOOfan_1 The first episode briefly show Bam talking to that other red-haired lady who said she'd train him.

I imagine some amount of time passed, and now he's going up again.

Episode 4

Love's parents were killed by FUG, so he's got a bone to pick with Bam for joining them, all while Wangnan and company have taken over five rooms already. But they face a snag as Nia is killed by Lurker. As it turns out, Nia was out to get revenge on the loan shark as he killed the old lady who cared for him. Seeing that having Lurker pass was the last thing he wants that Wangnan decides to approach Bam for his help as now it's a battle between his team and Lurker's team. It turns out that Robdevil isn't dead, but Horyang comes in and gives him a beatdown. And then Wangnan finishes off Lurker to pass the test. So with that, Bam will be advancing with a standard team rather than doing it solo, and afterwards Love resigns as an exam proctor, all while it turns out his boss is secretly working for FUG. Things really got personal there, but in the end justice was delivered. Next time, it looks like the scene will shift towards Khun and company. From the first season, Khun was Bam's closest teammate, and he is the guy who has the magic bag that can produce duplicates of anything he puts into it.

Episode 5

So after spending the first four episodes of this season focused on Bam as Viole, the scene shifts to Khun, who was the leader of Bam's team from the first season. Khun is approached by Edin Dan wanting to team up, but Khun just isn't interested. So he was tranquilized and knocked out by Khun's teammate Novick. And in the meantime Khun is determined to ascend the tower with Rachel as she's recovering from injury in bed. But it turns out that Rachel's leg injury was a lie, or at least not as serious than she made it out to be. So Khun made the decision to leave the team and form a new one, leaving Shibisu to lead it. And in the meantime, Bam is up to something as his team is taking a break before continuing the climb. So after everything that happened, it's good to see what happened on the other end of things given how Khun and company are thinking about Bam and are hoping to see him again someday.

Episode 6

Bam's story since the betrayal is explained, and pretty much he's doing everything for the sake of saving his friends as failing a test means one of this friends is executed. So with that, it's onto the next test where the objective is to go into Zygaena and retrieve a flower inside. It's no wonder why Bam wanted to do this solo seeing that he goes up against Mazino, who is somebody that the test-takers can't handle. But Bam will take him on alone while Wangnan and company just sit back. And now, the stakes are established here and for Bam, failure is not an option.

This goes to show that Crunchyroll is more focused on the business side of things seeing that they shut off the comments. Not to mention, it looks like the subs were meant for the next episode, not this one. While I have seen sub problems of all sorts from mistimed subs to using ones from another show by mistake, never did I think the subs for a future episode would mistakenly be used in this situation.

@GridironOtaku It is interesting though they have future episode subs ready already.

I know they poured money into season 1 so they might have some 'in' with the producers, but in order to time subs and arrange them on screen it also requires the visuals to be ready too. So CR/Sony has access to the entire next episode (at least) for this show.

Episode 7

Bam and Mazino engage in a duel to capture Zygaena’s flower, and it turns out the flower had bloomed into a creature. But then Miseng gets in the way and with the girl in the line of fire, Bam takes the hit, and thus the test ends in failure and one of Bam’s friends is set to be executed. This goes to show why Bam insisted on going solo seeing that Miseng’s sudden appearance changed everything. While Bam is reeling, even more so for Yihwa as she lost her family fortune after they got embroiled in a scandal. In the meantime, Wangnan has a new goal to reach the 30th floor in two years since E-rank climbers can get some great goodies there, but it only happens once every five years. Next time, Emily appears and based on what I was reading with next episode’s subs, there’s going to be quite a lot of text messaging.

Episode 8

Here comes Emile, a chat AI that both Khun's team and Bam's team find useful in climbing the tower. Khun's team is on the 29th floor, and they totally dominate their test against the team consisting of a Jaaskel, a mole guy, and three others. While Emile could tell them everything, even if somebody is alive or not like Bam, Khun is not so quick to trust it. While that's happening, Wangnan's team has been making steady process themselves as they face off against Quaetro and Chang on the 28th floor. Chang's team puts up a good fight, but Chang knew that he didn't stand a chance against Bam, so they surrendered the key when he shows up. And then Khun discovers a shocking truth about Emile in that somebody is the brains behind the AI system. While Khun is told Bam is still alive somewhere in the tower, he won't believe it until he sees it. Seeing that Bam's team was just one floor below that they are going to catch up with each other real soon.

Episode 9

Horyang explains his background as he and Cassano were sold off as test subjects to create a weapon. They were known as test subjects 21 and 99, and Horyang's name was originally Ilmar as given by a kind lady scientist. Then they learned the true purpose of the experiments as those two have been chosen to become living ignition weapons. As a result, they became one half of a devil. As the rest of the team prepares for the next test with black riceballs, Hyorang is outside thinking about what he saw and notices that Bam is also a living ignition weapon. Horyang challenges Bam to a battle daring him to use his power, but he refuses as he's somebody who wouldn't sacrifice anybody for power. Afterwards, Horyang leaves the team to find Cassano, all while Khun's party is gearing up to hunt devils. Pretty much, it's mostly background info here as it explains Horyang's backstory as he got his powers through a diabolical experiment, and that he's on a mission to find his best friend.

Enjoy seeing the focus on Horyang. Though the studio are pretty loose with the figures. One moment, Viole is drawn almost to his height. A few seconds later, Horyang (accurately) towers over Viole. Though his line of "You were my family" was bittersweet. In his mind, he's already left the team/family.

All points lead to Cassano. Next week should be a ton of fun!

Horyang has just left the team to go after Cassano, and he's inside the Hand of Arlen. There, he is attacked by Ran who is looking for the Devil of the Right Arm, which is Cassano and not Horyang. Khun is also there and he is attacked by a lamia assassin, who was hired by Xiaxia to eliminate anybody who entered the ruins, but his armor protected him. And then Bam and Xiaxia go to the Hand of Arlen to look for Horyang with Xiaxia wearing a hood to hide her rabbit ears. Quite a lot of bad blood going on here, and Cassano is definitely up to something.

In other news, this show will be continuing into the fall with the Workshop Battle arc, and Stray Kids, who performed the theme songs from the first season, will be doing the theme songs for the second cour of the season.

It turns out that this was all just a trap set up by Xia Xia, and he's not exactly pleased to see him. And then Xia Xia activates the the explosives to destroy the Hand of Arlen intending to kill Kun and his two partners, but they got away thanks to Bam telling them to run away. Khun is being targeted by FUG, and once again Rachel reveals her true nature as a traitor as she lies about her legs being out of commission and kills one of the guys who served as her legs as she puts it. So now, that Bam has met Khun again, things are about to take a huge turn seeing that Khun is unaware that he has met Bam at long last.

And now Khun meets up with Wangnan and the rest of Viole's team after everything that has transpired, all while Bam's former teammates from the first season are told that Khun is dead, but they refuse to believe it. Wangnan finds Dan, who Rachel apparently killed at the end of the previous episode, but he's still alive as she only stabbed him in the legs, but left him alive. While waiting for Dan to recover, Khun meets the guide Ryun, who confirms what he thought all along as after seeing the ability that Viole used, Khun figures out that Viole is Bam. Ryun explains why Bam became Biole as they needed an Irregular to slay the Jahad. So after hearing all this, Khun decides to team up with Viole in the Workshop Battle knowing that FUG is after him, all while Dan decides that despite his condition, he wants in on the Workshop Battle as well. Things are now starting to connect from the first season as Khun now knows that Viole is Bam, and that the Workshop Battle will decide everything.

Well, he didn't really say that last part. I just think he should have. He's picking them just because they were on Viole's team? I still can't understand the reasoning behind the cast members this season.

After seeing what has transpired and figuring out that Viole is actually Bam, Khun decides to join Wangnan's team for the Workshop Battle, and while Wangnan doesn't believe the team stands a chance in it, Khun says otherwise as he thinks he will instantly elevate the team to the top. So everybody trains for it, though Yeon really struggles with it. And with that, it's off to the 30th floor to engage in the Workshop Battle as it's a clash between Bam's old team from the first season and his new team, plus Khun, as well as Khun's new teammates as the second cour begins. Hopefully with this cour more focused that it will lead to better things seeing that things just went all over the place after a strong start that led to a number of issues.

With the show entering a new arc, time for new theme songs, which are done by the same band that did the first season theme song. The opening sounds like something I would expect from Madkid rather than Stray Kids, while the ending is more in-line with the first season theme songs.

Episode 14

The Workshop Battle begins with Bam attacking a patrol ship, and Wangnan is cheering on Endorsi after watching her on TV. And then the first game of the Workshop Battle is One Shot, One Opportunity with one of 248 boarding passes on the Archimedes is at stake. Everybody has a gun and one bullet, and to get a pass the player must either shoot a regular with their own bullet or get shot by a stolen bullet. The game begins with Khun going out to steal bullets, all while Endorsi steals some bullets for her team consisting of Bam's old teammates. Bam's new team is waiting for the number of available passes to drop below 100 before acting, all while Bam goes missing as he's trying to sneak on-board with a guy known only as Traveler. But just when things were going well, a golem attacks, and then Endorsi arrives as she's out to fight Viole not knowing that he's actually Bam. The first half was all over the place with the story, but here things get back to what it did well in the first season, and it certainly is great to see Endorsi again, though this time as an enemy for now. Pretty interesting game this is and the different approaches the teams are making.

Bam ends up using bombs to get away from Endorsi as the Traveler finds out that he is Viole, something he never told him. The battle to get on the Archimedes continues as Khun's team is looking to get there intact, but Miseng and Prince are missing as Verdi has captured those two. And then Hatz battles Cassano, while Anaak engages with Ran and Novick, and in the end Hatz gets shot by Cassano to be sent to the Archimedes. While his swordsmanship has greatly improved, he was still no match for Cassano. But Bam has come to the rescue. And so, the battle continues with every team having their own strategy of getting a pass onto the ship. Khun knows who Viole really is, and I'm curious to know how the other former teammates like Hatz, Anaak, and Endorsi will react when they find out that Viole is actually Bam.

Verdi has Princes and Miseng all tied up and she's just playing around with their unconscious bodies while Wangnan is waiting for the right moment to rescue those two. Anaak and Ran are sent to the Archimedes by Bam, and then Shibisu comes looking to capture Viole and has no interest in the Workshop Battle. With Verdi's spell, Bam's Shinsu gets sapped by the ring put on him, making him powerless to fight back against Amigo and Vespa with Vespa poisoning Yuto after she dove in to protect Bam, but he awakened his devil powers to defeat those two and made a deal with Shibisu to save Yuto. As such, Verdi retreats with Prince and Miseng, all while it turns out Horyang is still alive. And with that, all the passes have been claimed, and Traveller tells Endorsi that Viole is Bam which has her pretty conflicted. Viole is quite infamous here, but now that Endorsi knows the truth that things are about to change in a big way.

Pretty much a chill episode to set up what's to come, and it all starts with the gambling battle where the bettors will influence the outcome, and Wangnan and company find out just what happened with Prince and Miseng as they are still under Verdi's mind control. And then the battle continues with the Mad Dog Varagarv destroying the competition in brutal fashion. And Viole continues his work as a FUG slayer, but with more of his former companions starting to figure out who he really is. But the duel ends in a stalemate as Paracule, who as already eliminated, interfered and knocked both of them out just when they were about to deliver the finishing blow. After that, the battle for the next round is announced as Wangnan's team is one of eight teams fighting each other to face the winner between Team FUG and Team Mad Dog in the final with the grand prize being a weapon, which Beta says is a fake. Team FUG wins by default after Team Mad Dog decided to forfeit, or to be more precise they made a deal with with Mad Dog agreeing to throw the match, while Bam, Horyang, Novick, and Scout have left Team FUG, to be replaced by Ron and Baragav as a FUG win stands to benefit them with the way the bets have been placed. As for Bam, he had every intention of using this battle to leave FUG, but the FUG rankers were one step ahead as they set up a trap to capture Bam, and then turn him into a weapon. As breaking the rules is out of the question, the only way to rescue Bam without breaking the rules is to summon him during the next match. With help from Emily, Khun knows that the other three defectors are helping Bam return, so they pretty much have to stake their hopes on that as that's their only option. So now, Bam is about to be brought back to where he belongs, but it's going to take everything.

Rak has the most masterful disguise:

Very amusing to see him keep his mask while Khun is out in the open.

Episode 22

It's onto the semifinal as Wangnan and company are looking to save Bam by summoning him in battle before he could be turned into a weapon for FUG. Meanwhile, Yihwa and Rak eliminates Team Snake thanks to some great teamwork as despite that Team Snake guy eating Yihwa's flames, Rak came up with a workaround, while Yihwa turns up the heat. And then Beta and Vespa fight those two having figured out that they plan to summon Bam. And then Hwaryun takes off her mask in front of Reflejo as she reveals that she has been plotting to steal Enryu's Thorn for Bam to wield. And with the Thorn in hand, the four FUG defectors encounter Mad Dog, but Bam gets away while Hwaryun and company handle him. And with Bam in the clear, all that's left is for Wangnan to summon him, but Beta caught wind of the plan and impales Wangnan from behind. Lots of stuff happens here as all of Bam's allies have really stepped up their efforts to save him.

Beta's appearance was unexpected seeing that he's not one of the players, but he's out to get Bam seeing that Beta is just a stepping stone for Sophia to create Bam. So the battle rages on as while Wangnan was impaled, he's still standing all while he initiated the summoning process. It turns out that Beta was infected with a parasite that with help from Laure and Yihwa, was burned to a crisp. Seeing that everything depends on Viole being successfully summoned that Khun orders the team to forfeit so that the summoning can happen immediately, but it wasn't needed, not that they could since the system is down. So with that the gang is all together as Ro disguised himself as a guard to take them down. Now, there's just the matter of Beta to deal with seeing that he's got a bone to pick with Sophia and Bam.

Episode 24

Bam is back and Beta is under Sophia's care after being given the order to dispose of her. And as such, Bam and company are going to escape the Workshop Battle by hitching a ride on the Walhaiksong. But before that, Bam needs to rescue the other FUG defectors as Hwaryung and company were beaten up by Mad Dog, and have been placed on three different locations on the island. So they have one final match between Bam and Reflejo as he needs to find his comrades and defeat him in battle. To help out, Endorsi has arrived to take on Varagarv. And then Bam takes on Reflejo alongside with Khun and Rak, and that guy is a lot more calculating than he looks seeing that he anticipated Bam coming to their aid if he attacked them rather than him. The final battle is here as Bam will need to pull out all the stops to get through this.

Episode 25

It turns out that Emily was the result of a diabolical research project conducted by FUG with plans to dispose of somebody who had been turned into an ignition weapon, but a female researcher opposed her disposal and was saved instead. Cassano is out to save her seeing that he knows that the Workshop Battle was just a means to control all the people in the tower. And so the battle continues as Rak has a new weapon he didn't realize was designed to be a projectile, all while Endorsi takes Varagarv to the sky to penetrate his body that's tough as steel. And then the Thorn awakens allowing Bam to turn the tables against Reflejo. But the situation changes with molten lava being dumped into the volcano, meaning that everybody needs to move quickly to rescue the hostages. Ro buys some time that stalls the pouring of the lava, but then Reflejo collapses the platform intending to take Bam down with him. But Endorsi and company come to the rescue. Lots of things going on here, but in the end everybody is going to make it out. One more episode left to go.
