I don't remember much about the first season, other than she had an Ikemen harem.

I gave season 1 a 6/10 and watching this first episode I can see why, it was pretty boring.

Episode 1

Sei's latest project, some new cosmetics, takes off so much that a new trading company has to be formed to be the exclusive distributor. And later, she's surprised to find out coffee exists in this world; now she wants to find out if rice exists here as well. But what was with the ominous scene involving a miasma dragon at the beginning? Will Sei and Albert be in way over their heads as the season progresses?

I don't remember too much about the first season but I do recall it was pleasant enough. Might have to go back and watch an episode or two to remind myself.

This episode was pretty tepid though.

Episode 2

Sei goes around town in disguise, but when an accident on a ship leaves a worker fighting for his life, she can't resist offering assistance. The good news is that she got a lot of things at a discount, including more stuff from her old world, like miso and various spices...and rice. So she makes a lot of food for everyone to try, particularly Aira, who's also from her world.

Meanwhile, Johan and Albert discuss the possibility of a lot of suitors coming Sei's way. And that's not the only type of attention, as Sei's innocuous assist has got Ceyran, the ship's captain, searching for the alchemist who made the potion that saved his worker's life.

Shouldn't she have put on the disguise before she got out of the carriage and walked around?

Oh well, at least she found miso.

I'm actually impressed we didn't get the extended scene where everyone foodgasms over it the second they put it in their mouth like other shows.

@runec Never the reactions you'd expect from the plebs who don't use seasoning on their foods tasting Japanese for the first time:

"Isn't this food too salty?"

They didn't go to the market on the same day they arrived. And rice was what she was really hoping to find; miso was a bonus.

Yeah I was really expecting to see that. The MC's from the two best isekais are both characters who don't try to cook food from their old world.

To be fair the idea of wanting a "taste of home" is well-grounded in reality. In the real world people who immigrate to a different country often seek out restaurants that specialize in foods from their home country. Some go so far as to open their own restaurants because they want to share their native cuisine.

That said, I agree the whole "foodgasm" thing is a trope I can do without.

Episode 3

A ceremony is held to formally announce Sei as the Saint, but she's more flustered about attending the evening dance afterwards. Before the ball, Elizabeth introduces Sei to Rayne, Kyle's younger brother. Sei's heart is all aflutter when she and Albert take the ballroom floor. Then in an effort to keep random strangers from asking to dance with her, Johan takes the next lead, and Albert ropes in Yuri and Erhart to help as well. But just when things seemed to be calming down after the dance, the king calls for an audience with Sei a few days later.

I appreciated them animating the bouncing bow in her hair, but it made it kind of awkward that they didn't put in any other people dancing.

I wish they had done something with her hair for that introduction ceremony. With her hair just normal looking her outfit didn't seem like it was worth the big deal they made about it.

Maybe. After the first screw up they made with her though you'd think they wouldn't be anxious to do anything big all of a sudden.

Episode 4

An exchange student comes to Salutania, and it's a prince from Zaidera, the empire that Ceyran is from. Arrangements are made so that Sei is not at the Institute when Prince Ten'yuu visits it, in order to keep him from finding out about her special abilities. But later, Ten'yuu makes an unexpected visit when Sei happens to be looking over her herb garden, and even though things were resolved without much incident, Ten'yuu has already discerned that Sei is a pretty important figure at the Institute.

Sei's identity as the saint definitely a well-kept secret.

It's not like she was ... at the center of multiple huge political events, saved territories from destruction of monsters, healed dozens if not hundreds with her insane OP magic and potions, and is the only person in the country besides Aira with black hair and eyes with a darker complexion. And it's not like she goes around using her real name for official business either.

Airtight.

Episode 5

Ten'yuu is very persistent, so Johan and Jude change their strategy to having Sei steer any conversations with him in a certain direction. Then they decide to find out why Ten'yuu is so focused on Sei, and it comes to light that although Ceyran likely informed the prince about a talented alchemist, Zaidera has no interest in Sei's powers as the Saint. Sei decides to talk to Elizabeth about finding out Ten'yuu's real purpose, but when Albert shows up before the appointed time, Elizabeth backs off believing she's intruding on a romantic interlude. So Sei and Albert discuss things instead, and they come up with a rehearsed discussion they do within earshot of Ten'yuu. The trick works, and when Ten'yuu talks to Sei again, he reveals that his mother is suffering from a wasting disease, and he's looking for a potion capable of curing her.

Episode 6

Because of the difficulty of discerning the nature of the wasting disease without direct observation on Ten'yuu's mother, the only option is to create an all-healing panacea. Sei actually hits a wall in her research, but when Albert comes back from his homeland with a jar of apple honey for her, she's struck with a flash of inspiration. Apples aren't in season, so Johan takes Sei to a greenhouse so she can use her Saint powers to make an apple sapling grow quickly to the point where it bears fruit, and King Siegfried presents the resulting panaceas to Ten'yuu as a gift before the prince returns home.

@zkeleton Panacea's pretty much the only single word choice.

万能薬 bannouyaku is like 'do everything medicine.'

It's pretty ridiculous she willed an apple to cure anything. Even um, fertilizing the flowers? But then again the show's title ...

Incidentally bannou is the same 万能 for 'do anything/everything'. 'The saint's magic power is bannou.'

The problem is it's usually used in a negative context, like someone is being fraudulent. So the way they used it here kept making it sound like they were trying to pull a fast one on the prince and send him home with fake medicine.

All known miasma swamps have been eradicated, and talks in the palace begin to focus on finding suitors for Sei to marry. Elizabeth and Aira converse on their own plans for marriage, while the Hawke brothers come to a consensus that Albert is the best choice from their family. Even Johan has been dragged into the topic, though he thinks he would be a poor choice for Sei. However, a new miasma swamp has been discovered in the Hawke family's domain.

@zkeleton It did seem like they were setting up some sort of yuri-themed spinoff about a forbidden love.

But I guess fewer single women interested in bishies leaves more for Sei's harem?
