![]() https://myanimelist.net/anime/50739/ Plot Summary After catching a cold by giving his only umbrella to a girl sitting in the rain, Amane Fujimiya only expects her to eventually return it. However, Mahiru Shiina, the "Angel" of Amane's school and his neighbor, instead gives him a lot more than that. Instead of just the umbrella, she insists on returning the favor by helping him recover from his cold. However, she is oblivious to the battlefield that is Amane's apartment. The only word Mahiru finds from her mouth to describe the chaos is "unsightly." But despite her unsympathetic description, Mahiru proceeds to help the hopeless Amane. Otonari no Tenshi-sama ni Itsunomanika Dame Ningen ni Sareteita Ken follows Amane as he is taken care of by Mahiru, who attends to various chores—from cleaning his apartment to cooking dinner. Episode 1 Given the setup of this show, this had the look of a more serious version of Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie. It has the perfect girl who ends up with a down-on-his-luck guy, and the two of them form a relationship, but instead of it being a comedy, it's a drama. Mahiru is the popular girl at school who is cute and has it all, while Amane is somebody who's a total slob and doesn't have any problem staying invisible fully believing that a girl like Mahiru would never approach him. But all it took was a chance encounter at home, and everything changed just like that. Amane's place is such a mess, and Mahiru just can't stand it, so she takes matters into her own hands and spoils him. That was a great start there, going to show that Mahiru is more down-to-earth than she appears, seeing that everybody at school is idolizing her. Can't wait to see where this relationship goes. So out of all the premieres so far, I must say this is my favorite show of them all. The light novel is amazing from what I'm hearing, and I can definitely see why after the first episode. While I have been down on stuff by this studio, they have greatly improved recently to the point where they are now handling highly-regarded shows like this. |

The thing that bothered me the most from this is that you know mister hot, moody, bedroom eyes, loner, who sits in the corner would have half the girls in his class drooling over him, just like Sasuke always did. Dude would be getting some girl confessing to him at least once a month. So I don't really get why he sees himself as some kind of outcast/lowly serf that's like ten steps below the lofty stratosphere that the girl is in. I kept waiting for them to give us some kind of reason why he'd see himself as one of the low end plebs of his class, but they ever did. And those apartments they live in aren't exactly low rent so he must be getting OK money from somewhere. And I really thought I recognized her voice from another show, but when I looked up the VA she hadn't done any characters that I knew(I thought maybe she did the voice for Sylphie from MT). The only character she's done that I'm familiar with at all is Zenitsu's sparrow from Demon Slayer and I don't think I would recognize her voice from that. lol |

Yeah, he's not even friends with the Girl Obsessed Best Friend character to drag down his social standing. Nor is he being bullied or picked on by anyone higher in the pecking order to establish his social worth in the hierarchy. He's not even hapless around girls or a lucky perv. Dude just sits in the corner and is mature enough to not interpret girls being nice to him as romantic interest so He's Different From All The Other Guys. Also, he's a slob. We didn't even get a scene of other guys bothering or salivating over Angel-sama for her to be drawn to the one guy that isn't out to get her. But hey, he has at least 3 personality traits which is 2 more than she has. |

Episode 2 Mahiru hurts her foot trying to save a cat that got stuck on a tree, and that led to some awkward moments seeing that she has to take off her tights in front of Amane to get it bandaged up. With Mahiru's birthday coming up, Amane is looking for a gift and settles on hand cream. Mahiru is not exactly fond about celebrating her birthday for some reason, so she never told anybody about it and Amane only knows because she dropped her school ID that has it. And more about Amane is explained as while he's nowhere near the student Mahiru is, he's no slouch as he needs to do well or else he's moving back home. Those two are making a cute couple there, and Mahiru continues to be such a great girl there and more down-to-earth than what others at school perceive her to be. Should be interesting to see what happens when Itsuki and Chitose find out that those two are neighbors as it is going to happen. |

Their relationship has been so sterile it's been pretty boring. That thing at the end with the teddy bear really saved it. His friend's girlfriend is cuter than she is. |

Door handle perspective fail. The "reference lines" from the wall next to the door were RIGHT THERE. Sigh. The animation style and tone remind me of Higehiro from a few seasons ago, which is not a good thing. |

Ep 1. Soo why didn't she get sick from sitting in the rain? Yeah agree with the above why is she out of his league again? And they live next door to each other but haven't interacted until now? How? Have they walked to and from school every day at different times? Guess I shouldn't expect too much from a show with such a cliched, contrived opening. |

boldulysses said: The animation style and tone remind me of Higehiro from a few seasons ago ...probably because the exact same studio animated them both... I guess I could've looked that up before. Ep.2: Cruising along around 6/6.5 level, this show is doing JUST enough to keep me interested, mainly because it tries to make the banter a little more "spiky." Fujimiya is kind of a poor man's Sakuta Asuzagawa or Hachiman. The animation and direction are distractingly bad, though. zkeleton said: His friend's girlfriend is cuter than she is. ^This is true. I was trying to determine if that was his birth mother or step-mother. She looks far too young to be his birth mother, he was blushing when she got right on top of him, and she referred to her husband by name, instead of otou-san, which you would usually expect a mother to call her husband in front of their kid (although, he could be a step-father). But, I wouldn't expect a step-mother to be THAT invested in her step-child |

Episode 3 Amane's mother Shihoko makes a visit, and nothing gets past her. However, she totally twists things out of proportion seeing that Amane thinks Mahiru is his girlfriend when in truth they are just next door neighbors, at least at the moment. Then comes Christmas Eve, and Itsuki and Chitose decide they want to have a party at Amane's apartment. Of course, I was expecting those two to find out that Amane and Mahiru are neighbors, and that's exactly what happens here as they went out onto the balcony to watch the snowfall and find out that Mahiru is there. It will be interesting to see how those two handle the truth now that the cat, or rather angel, is out of the bag. |

Yet again this show does barely enough to keep me interested. Her design reminds of me Chi. But they managed to make her less cute. Yeah I figured it was mom and step dad. She seemed to proud of him to be the step mom. Plus I figure he would have told Mahiru if she was a step mom. |

Our boy may not realize it but he is as good as married right now. His mother sees Mahiru as his future wife and Mahiru appears to be perfectly willing to with it. Don't know why he is so hesitant, he has already wondered if he has found his future wife. Now that his friends see her next door it is going to be forced on him. |

Episode 4 Now that the cat's out of the bag, time for Itsuki and Chitose to get to know the real Mahiru and not the angel persona at school. For Mahiru, it's quite refreshing that she becomes friends with somebody like Chitose. And then as Mahiru requested, they play the Switch at Amane's apartment with an exchange of gifts afterwards. Then with Mahiru falling ill, it's time for Amane to be the provider, and she's staying in his room to get better. Those two have come a long way and while Amane says they are not a couple, it's only a matter of time before it happens. |

Does she have "old movie desease", you know, if she doesn't die the movie does. |

Episode 5 The mother made a surprise visit, and now the father comes over to ring in the new year. And that means a visit to the shrine with Mahiru all dolled up in a kimono. Mahiru and Amane hold hands in order to make sure she isn't separated in the crowd, which causes a lot of gossip at school, but luckily for Amane nobody other than Itsuki and Chitose knows that it's him. Amane sure has great parents there, and while Amane sees himself as being somebody unworthy to be Mahiru's boyfriend, Mahiru doesn't think so at all. Next time, it's Valentine's Day. |

I know the extremely young looking mother is a trope, but his dad too...at least Mahiru mistook him for a brother. They must have been in their teens when he was born. They also refer to each other by name in front of their son and to their son, which seems out of the norm...maybe because they are so young. |

Mahiru's character design really reminds of another show, that's not Chobits, but I can't figure out what it is. Yeah, she looks like a real Japanese beauty. With blonde hair. OK this has been low key for long enough. Its time for the drama to get turned up a couple notches. To, like, a five at least. |

A bit, but her face is rounder than Shiina's. I actually don't find Mahiru's character design all that attractive; I'm just taking all her friends' word for it with the "classic Japanese beauty" remarks. Agree that this show needs some tension, and now. |

Episode 6 It's Valentine's Day, and of course lots of crazy stuff goes on and this show is no exception. All the guys are getting chocolates, and from Chitose, Amane gets a Russian roulette box with a mixture of sweet and bittersweet chocolates, while getting some chocolate-dipped orange slices from Mahiru. Then there's Yuta Kadowaki, who is the captain of the track team and is quite popular with the girls. After getting chocolates from Mahiru, Amane returns the favor on White Day by giving her a bracelet. Those two continue to develop their relationship, and it says quite a lot about what kind of person Amane is as he keeps on giving those gifts. |

Episode 7 Itsuki and Chitose come in for a three-day stay, and then to have a meal cooked by Mahiru, and they were certainly impressed. And then Mahiru's mother Sayo makes a visit and after all those mean things she said to Mahiru, it's no wonder why Mahiru doesn't get along with her parents. As it turns out, Mahiru's parents didn't marry out of love and didn't want to become parents. So that's why Mahiru spent so much time studying and training in order to be accepted by them, but they just don't care. They are just waiting until she can be independent and say good riddance to a child they never wanted. It's a great thing she found someone who can make her happy, and Amane's parents will definitely make her feel part of the family unlike her own. |

Is the idea that corporate cooperation needs a marriage between families still actually believed in Japan, or is that just a trope contrivance used in a bunch of anime? We have another anime coming up with a girl disliked by her parent due to a loveless marriage. Even with the trope, you'd think the marriage would be expected to create heirs to those family corporations, so the fact that her parents never wanted kids or she would just go her own way after college doesn't really make sense when you consider their marriage was a business decision. |

That's it? That's it? The gir's parents didn't plan on having children and she was cast out to live on her own when she became old enough. And this is why she can't be in a relationship? So lame. This is the lowest-stakes romcom I've ever seen. Doesn't help that the MC turned from a potentially somewhat interesting antisocial type character to just your average "I'll always be there for you" potato-kun. Art and direction are flat as a board, too. |

Episode 8 It's the new school year, and Amane is in the same class as Mahiru, Itsuki, and Chitose. While it's good that everybody is together, Amane will need to be extra careful not to get too close while at school seeing that Yuta is also in the same class. Amane got himself a nice lap pillow, and some pudding. And then an accident nearly happens during cooking class as Yuta was being reckless and Mahiru would have gotten stuff splattered on her had Amane not protected her. Those two continue to develop their relationship, but it's coming to a point where they are falling in love, and are having a much harder time keeping their relationship a secret from the rest of the school. |

Episode 9 It's Golden Week, and Amane and Mahiru go out on a date. After playing with some cute cats at the cat cafe, shopping at the mall, and playing in the arcade, the two run into Yuta. They try to convince Yuta that there's nothing between them and they are just neighbors doing what friends do, but he isn't so convinced. Trouble is certainly brewing there as those two have gotten too close out in public, all while Yuta is making things complicated. Nevertheless, it was cute to see that side of Mahiru on the date, but there's definitely tough times ahead as there's no telling what Yuta might do. |
