1. CSM didn't flop, it's incredibly popular and makes huge profit in all aspects.
2. sounds like you just don't like Seinens or shonens that try to balance comedy and drama. if you dont like occasional overly emotional backstories mixed with drama/comedy then I don't think those genres are for you.

short answer: yes, those themes will continue.

the problem with Chainsaw Man is not that it took itself too seriously, it's more like the opposite. That, and the author cannot write a story or develop any element of it for more than 5 pages to save his life.

Chainsaw Man and Dandadan are the two brightest in a sea of shounen slop. I don't even care for shounen too much but those two shows are in my top 10.
