Since we’re bringin’ these five into the mix:

Your Name > Pancreas > Weathering > Garden > Silent Voice

I really think A Silent Voice should have been done as a TV series rather than a movie. 13 episodes would have been perfect for a full adaptation. Making it a movie only serves to hurt the overall product by removing a bunch of character arcs and the uh actual ending.

Well both of them are below average but I think I will choose garden of words.

And after reading this thread all the replies looks like there are 4 users who have 200 IQ they are comparing 5 different movies.

ehhh. If garden of words was longer then it would be close but for me it weathering with you (your name is on the same level as garden to words btw) but a silent voice is no.1

I'm surprised these two are being said in the same sentence. Weathering with You is very forgettable. like, I didn't like Your Name too much but at least it is memorable despite its faults. Weathering with You didn't/couldn't do too much with its weather manipulation so then they did that big crazy thing at the end and it was all stunning visually but pretty meh for portraying an emotional or satisfying story conclusion.

they are very different movies, drama vs a supernatural, SoL. there were some kind of big drama moments in Weathering with You, but it obviously wanted to go out of its way to wow you before bringing up the emotional finale. Garden of Words is all killer no filler. sure, most people might not understand either character's situation, but it focuses on the two character's issues and doesn't get distracted by any other part of the story to be addressed. it's pretty damn close to perfect.

Vs Weathering with You feeling like at a minimum it could be improved by cutting down some parts and adding some more important scenes or scene transitions.

Garden of Words is better, hands down. It’s air tight, flows well, and highly emotional. Weathering with You is good but it’s pacing isn’t very good, and I personally do not like the ending. Tried to go for a Your Name ending, but more fucked up with how the world ends up.
