| Yup, I think the older version was better than the newer one (well, from the episodes I saw of the newer version). It may of adapted some other stories, but the ones it went over again weren't adapted as strongly as before in my opinion. I prefer the atmosphere and tone of the 2003 version as well (that being said I don't absolutely love the original adaptation either). I know some people would say to judge something on its own merit, but this is a case where I feel it's difficult not to compare. The changes make sense though given there's a different director (Nakamura passed away in 2013) and the changing of studio, etc, but yeah just some thoughts. The Story of Saiunkoku? |

| I really enjoyed it, or at least the first 10 episodes since I put it on hold over a year back. I honestly don't know why I haven't finished it, reckon there's something more difficult about returning to a show that you've already started than trying something new and exciting. | Yup, I've watched it a few times. I like that the characters aren't perfect and that they have flaws. The manga has been hiatus for a long time now, I don't know if they'll ever be a conclusion to it but it's worth watching/reading anyway I think. Beck |

| Considering I had no interest in it at all until a certain @Renn recommended it to me, I really liked it. Kamina (and most of the main cast) really worked their way into my heart, I thought the OST was fantastic, and I loved the character development too. Some of the fight scenes did go on a bit too long for my liking, but overall I just found it good fun. Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushi |
