| It's very obviously a deconstruction of the highschool/harem genre, but "very obviously" apparently wasn't obvious enough. I don't know if I'd call it a masterpiece because there still is some clumsy storytelling involved (for example the video thing with the girls' basketball club), but its score is an absolute joke compared to how good it is. |

| After over a decade of hearing about School Days and now finally watching it, it's nowhere near as bad as everyone says, sure most of the side characters don't make any sense, but the main trio are legitimately well written. Makoto is a narcissist PoS that becomes sex obsessed really really fast, if any of the girls starts holding it away from him, he'll right away jump to another one, he deserved what happened to him, whenever someone would tell him how shitty he was, even though he's able to understand and internalize it, he was able to brush those thoughts off his mind almost instantly, no sense of guilt, responsibility or regret, nothing is ever his fault. Seiko is a jealous and scheming character that will betray her friends to get what she wants, even going as far as hijacking her best friend's crush in the first opportunity she gets, pretend to be a cupid to get closer to the guy and then try to soothe him when he gets frustrated. poor Kotonoha, the rich and sheltered shy girl, trapped in a fantasy romance novel, fearing everything and being just too good and naive for this world, kind of funny how she's the only one to not the fuck the MC, but then lets the loser friend do her, even if it's just once and clearly being forced to, when she was devastated and betrayed by the MC and her only friend, she's also constantly bullied by her classmates, has no friends, she didn't deserve any of this, she never lost her hope, even by the end. I don't get how people hate this |
