Try Kotonoha no Niwa, Byousoku 5 Centimeter or Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki. :D

Kotonoha no Niwa -- instant delete after watching for around 30 mins, and then read the summary in wiki.. just too dumb for me.
5 cm/s -- nothing new here bro, the guy who made that movie is just dumb. I'll try Ookami Kodomo. :)

I think you just don't have an open mind. Not meaning to offend but it's pretty evident in your responses. Basing an anime off of a wiki or any source that doesn't include watching is a bad way to view anime.

I've said this before but I was the same way with anime when I got into. Would read an anime's summary and ignore it. Then just started watching randomly the ones I didn't like and found that I liked them.

Nah, no offence taken. :D
I lost interest in anime a long time back. I'm into other stuffs now and I still watch them just to have a good laugh.
Kimi ni Todoke (KnT) is one anime which I had watched and enjoyed a lot. Suki-tte Ii na yo (I regret completing this show), which came later was copied point-to-point from KnT. Chihayafuru (both the seasons included) is another rubbish that I watched and the card game was just terrible.. I prefer Cardfight Vanguard over this thing. For such things, wiki and other sources are good enough for me.. watch/read the original a bit and if it's not to my liking then, just read the wiki article and put that in my dropped list or better forget about it completely. Good plot, character development etc etc.. I'm not after them anymore.
Lucky Star, Seitokai no Ichizon (& Yakuindomo) and others which can make me laugh or some thing epic like To aru Majustu no Index, Welcome to the N.H.K (in TV series) and Akira (in movies) and the plenty of good manga and LNs are what I consider good and worth spending my time on.. that's how I define anime and manga right now.

Nope, not yet.

Watched the 1st Pokemon movie again after a long time, was excellent! (Keep in mind that the movie is 15 years old) :D

I've seen some new animes from this season.
Nisekoi reminds me of Bakemonogatari somehow ("dramatic character movement" thing).
D-Frag!'s good as well, but it's all about weirdos making (trying to make) games. :D
Pupa's somehow disappointing - too short. I'll go for manga.

I had seen them movie a while back and liked it. The movie is not related to the main storyline, so guys who haven't seen FT much can also watch the movie.

Exactly my thought. It felt a lot like some stand-alone movie.

It's similar to all the One Piece, Pokemon and DBZ movies out there. You just need to have the basic info about the characters and don't really need to have the knowledge about the actual storyline.

have been in a strange "let's watch several anime at the same time" mood.
- finished Ga-Rei Zero, which I liked, but honestly can only rate a 7 as there was barely any backstory for the major characters and almost NO story at all for the rest of the characters. while it was nice to look at and the premise seemed really promising, I feel it was more of a "Cliff Notes" version of a story than a real story. plus, the ridiculously egregious fanservice made me sad.

-am still watching xxxHOLiC Kei on my laptop and trying to adjust the subs to my liking before I burn to dvd. dang these folks and their weirdly special fonts and colors. ggggrrr

-started Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and it is really freaky in a good way! if they maintained the potential of the first 7 episodes all the way through, I can see me rating this a 10.

-still have the dvds of Michiko & Hatchin on top of the player and will be re-watching it soon cause I'm weird like that.

Did someone mention the old Spy Kids movies? :P
I got a friend of mine into subbed anime on Sunday with Attack on Titan. I then recommended Sword Art Online and Great Teacher Onizuka (he prefers dubs if available: I enjoyed GTO's dubs but, again, subs are much better). Now wondering if SAO was a mistake because I haven't seen it and Aniki's words are haunting me.... :O :P

Yes. And it was me who mentioned that old Spy Kids movie :P
Your friend's gonna love SAO, if he's still new to anime and assuming that he's a 14/15 year old too.
Let him try Bleach/ Fairy Tail (The English dub sucks though, except for Natsu and a few others.. Levy, Gajeel and others' English was horrible).... or Sket Dance (only Japanese dub available)... it's a wonderful anime.

And yeah, he'll turn 14 on Valentine's Day. XD
...
He's seen Bleach before. Liked it at first but lost interest really quickly. He was the one who lent me Vol 7 of Bleach about a month ago. :P He won't watch FT because it has 'Fairy' in the title and won't take my word for how good it is. :S
What's Sket Dance about anyway? I've heard about it but that's pretty much it.

Sket Dance is about three friends who run a club in school and their job is to help people. It's incredibly hilarious at the same time the stories and some of the themes on what the episodes are based on is very heart warming.. it's a wonderful anime. :P

I don't know what you people really find good in SAO..? A few of the people who are hardcore LN readers that I know have dropped the LN just like me. Heard that Gun Gale arc's gonna be animated... that's where I dropped the series at.
You guys must really try LMS. It's about a guy named Weed (not the smoking one) who starts playing a MMORPG called RoyalRoad to earn money by taking the profession of a sculptor.. there are not much girls in it, but this one is really awesome. There are more than 40+ volumes published, just google it for the translations or head to baka-tsuki.
Also you can try 1/2 Prince and Sun Knight.. even though they are shoujo, they're very well written. Don't restrict yourselves to SAO and keep exploring for the nicer stuff. ;)
.........
ps: Haven't watched any anime at all.. for the past two years. Just some movies and Nichijou was the last serialized.

People like what they like. I think most people don't give it enough of a chance and judge from what others say. I've never liked the mindset to not wait until a series is fully done to judge. I used to do that then I stopped and would wait til a series was completely over and realized that it was a good series.
