Elfen Lied was the first for me, too. Actually, it was the series that pushed me off the edge, head-first into the sea of anime and manga :3 Some might call me a late bloomer, but I'm loving it!

Berserk was my first dark anime. Although I had no idea how dark it was going to get! Then read the manga and became obsessed.

I remember reading Death Note and talking about it with a friend at the time thinking it was enough for me... then he recommended Monster to really push me over the edge. :]
