Among the regulars here it's pretty obvious who our #1 picks will be. But I am interested to see how you rank Witches 2-11. Discuss with everyone why your Witches landed their spot or rank. Lets make this fun people and no bitching about why Sanya is or is not a #1 pick. LOL I made this list as a request from Chibuki for my 30K celebration thread: #1 Charlotte Yeager ![]() A Big Bewbed Speed Demon, what's not to like? She breaks the sound barrier in episode 5, you get to see her swimsuit disintegrate, as well as learn about her fascination with speed. She has a friendly personality, has no need to hid her modesty and her Striker Unit is based off of my favorite WWII fighter; the P-51 Mustang. I just wish Francesca wouldn't have been around her so often. #2 Eila Juutilainen ![]() I liked "Solidarity" but not for Sanya. I like how she is so protective of Sanya and is somewhat mischievous, plus her her voice is just...awesome. #3 Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke ![]() Rei Tanaka <3! One of my fav VA's that is the Wing Commander of the 501st Fighter Wing, which makes her totally cool. Plus she be a hawty. #4 Lynette Bishop ![]() My little amazing moe sniper. Watching her hit a target that isn't even visible by the naked eye was simply badass. Cute girls + Anti-Tank Rifle = <3. #5 Mio Sakamoto ![]() I love her laugh and how she smacks Yoshika on the back all the time. Shes always so hardcore on the training and has no fear when it comes to battle. Though the "I'll give my life for my country" attitude wasn't really needed considering the circumstances. #6 Gertrud Barkhorn ![]() Wasn't really in the series all that much after her episode introduction. I do like her seriousness and toughness when it comes to battling the Neuroi with her dual MG42's. I guess I sense a bit of tsundere which is why she landed this spot. #7 Sanya Litvyak ![]() Ok, I guess I am a hypocrite. I do like the quiet characters but it seems like this type of personality is used a bit too much. I do like the moments when she and Eila are together. #8 Franscesca Lucchini ![]() Grabbing boobs and sleeping. Other than that Francesca really doesn't do much and we know nothing about her. #9 Erica Hartmann ![]() A character that really didn't "pop up on my radar". Other than her "Sexy Girl" pose she really didn't have much of a spotlight in the series. #10 Perrine Clostermann ![]() Perrine had her moments, mainly ones that made me lol. #11 Yoshika Miyafuji ![]() The main character yet ranked last. The whole "lets make friends with the enemy" bit at the end irritated me. |

This is just like the lists we all made and posted in the comments section. Quick notice, don't take this personally. It's just an opinion. Here we go: 1.) Lynette Bishop: For me she was one of the more interesting characters. She's caring and always doing her best for the rest of the squad. She has a range of emotions throughout the show and from her first major kill to the final battle, she grows from an insecure pilot to a very accurate and efficient sniper who is always doing her best to protect her friends and homeland. Something that just won her a special place in my heart. 2.) Perrine Clostermann: WTF? This bitch? She's just one of those misunderstood characters in my opinion that doesn't get enough attention. In the end, she showed how she is one of the most loyal and dependable characters in the show. Plus, electric frizzle hair is adorable. Plus that little dog growl she does is awesome. I always saw her potential as a character from the beginning and she was necessary in the show to have some strife amongst members at times. Otherwise it would have just been "We're all friends fighting the Neuroi! Spread flowers! Joy! Joy!" 3.) Eila Juutilainen: First, her voice is awesome. Second, she is what made Sanya moments bearable for me. She had personality, the voice and was just an awesome character. 4.) Erica Hartmann: First off, the pilot she is based on was a beast who made the Russian Air Force look like a joke, so you already have a foundation for an awesome character. Second, the hat episode and near the end the attempt to get the truck to give them a ride was priceless. The sloppy living, efficient pilot who clears out the skies. Beyond greatness. 5.) Charlotte Yeager: Would it be a show without a carefree rabbit Yank with huge boobs and an addiction to speed? I think not. If only she had more scenes without Lucchini. 6.) Yoshika Miyafuji: She's the main character, sweet and also dependable. But her "the Neuroi want to be friends" bit near the end was beyond annoying. She also seemed pointlessly careless at many points. 7.) Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke: We're getting near the bottom. But this character doesn't belong there. She is only 7 because I can't tie the characters I have from 5 to 7 in one spot. She is by far one of the coolest characters in the show. Pity she didn't get more screen time. 8.) Mio Sakamoto: Now we're in the bottom characters. Mio.... *does a ladylike covering of the mouth* Oh ho ho ho ho ho..... no, really, I'd like to exchange this character with one of the characters from the novels please. What? No? Damn. 9.) Gertrud Barkhorn: Nothing wrong with her, but it just didn't feel like she was really in the show. Every character left an impression, either good or bad but she was just... there... however, she wasn't annoying so she secured herself as not in the bottom two. 10.) Franscesca Lucchini: Grab boobs... annoying laugh... grab boobs... annoying laugh... prank... prank... grab boobs... annoying laugh... At least she is moderately a three trick pony, unlike the last of the list. She has a few good moments, I admit. But I just couldn't grow to like this character. 11.) Sanya Litvyak: And now we have the one trick pony. A character who is always sleepy who can barely fire her own weapon without assistance... well I have something in common with her because when she has the spotlight I'm pretty damn sleepy too. The monotone, emotionless character worked for Rei Ayanami. And sorry Sanya, but you're not Rei Ayanami. |

I'm still not sure I'm completely satisfied with it, but spending any more time trying to fine-tune it wouldn't change too much, so here's mine. 1) Sanya V. Litvyak – I know lots of people see her as just the quiet girl, and honestly, she pretty much is, but it’s because of that that I connected with her so much. I’m typically rather shy and quiet myself, no matter how I might come off to people. In school, I was the guy that’d just be sitting in the back of the room that people don’t really take much notice of. I guess I just like her so much because I see her in me a little. 2) Eila Juutilainen – She and Sanya could probably be interchangeable, but I’ll leave her at 2. I like her because she’s a deeply loyal friend, willing to look out for Sanya even at the cost of somewhat removing herself away from everyone else at times. 3) Lynette Bishop – The always sweet and considerate character, she just had to be in the top 5. I think over all the characters she grew the most over the course of the show. She gained the self-confidence she needed to become a great asset to the team, as well as the resolve to protect the people important to her. 4) Minna-Dietlinde Wilke – She’s just too cool. She’s intelligent, composed, and at the same time still has that silly side to her. It really is a shame that she didn’t get more screentime, because she was one of my favorites. 5) Erica Hartmann – She’s basically the better version of Lucchini, same energy, just more focused I think. She’s got spunk, loves to compete (based on episode 8 at least) and I’ve got to admit that attempted hitchhiking was hilarious. 6) Perrine Clostermann – She was a cool character, she had a lot of personality to work with. Her obsession over Mio proved to be very entertaining at times, namely her growl. Also, she’s just the character the show ordered to try and balance out the naïve Yoshika, because she doesn’t hold back. 7) Charlotte Yeager – She’s a speed demon, has big breasts, and personality to boot. You can’t really hate her now, can you. She’s also one of those cooler characters that kinda suffered from lack of real screentime aside from her awesome episode. 8) Mio Sakamoto – Mio is one of those important characters that I can’t make myself put further down the list. Not that I’d want to though. She’s always more worried about others than herself, as you can see when she’s still wanting to fly even after she knew it was very dangerous for her to do so. Beyond that though, there’s not much I can say about her. 9) Yoshika Miyafuji – She’s kind, sweet, and always wants to help. Sounds good until I noticed how naïve she is about a lot of things. I can’t say I know the true intentions behind that one humanform Neuroi, but even so, it’s hard to believe they just want to be friends when they come in shooting. Anyone should be able to tell that much. 10) Gertrude Barkhorn – Not that I don’t like her, but I can’t make myself move one of the other characters down. Her love for her sister was so much that it actually ended up hurting her in the end, because she threw all the blame on herself for not being able to protect her. That deep care in and of itself is an admirable trait, though. All the same, she seemed like a background character sometimes. 11) Francesca Lucchini – Provided a few good laughs, and snuggled lots of boob, but I didn’t really connect with her that much. We also didn’t really get a whole lot of her story either, so that might be why. |

My list has remained the same for over a month. ^^; http://myanimelist.net/blog.php?eid=17003 (P.S. If you guys really wanna see who the best Witch is, I had this idea about keeping score: Rank #1 = 11 pts & Rank #11 = 1 pts. Someone can keep score and add 'em up, and the Witch with the highest total wins.) |

Going off of the last character poll, she would already have 110 points. Considering most people who voted for Lucchini have her in her top 3 or 4, the lead only expands. In my opinion, it's more entertaining to just see how people ranked them personally than to throw in total score systems for who will be the "ultimate witch." |

Yeah Miku, Sakuko hit the nail on the head. It would be a nice idea maybe if we had more active users, though we don't know how many of them would have Sanya as their favorite. I guess making your idea a reality would be predicated upon how diverse their #1 character choices are. |

Ken-san said: It would be a nice idea maybe if we had more active users.... It is rather funny though. We have 181 members and at best we've had 44 people vote on a single poll and maybe half of that, at best (probably much lower), who actually comment or post regularly. |

Yeah, it is kinda funny. I belong to several clubs and only visit a handful of them, which is most likely the same case with most of the inactive users here. You're up awfully late. lol |

ChiBuki said: I have never thought about having them in order from least to most favorite. :P When the time comes, I'll be sure to post them here. For now it's nice to see what everyone have to say critically about each Witches. After making Vert and I go through the anguish, the least you could do is make a list like we all posted above. I mean I love all the characters, there is no hate for Yoshika just because I gave her the #11 spot. Although I blame the shortness of the series for not being able to rank these characters more accurately. |

So it would seem this needs to come with a spoiler tag. 1. Yoshika Miyafuji Believe me I don't choose favorite characters because they're main characters. Miyafuji just has so much spunk. And...what's that French word? Anyway I liked her personality least at the beginning of the show when she said she wouldn't fight. But man...I'm pretty appreciative that she's the main character. She's like the bright sunny sky itself. I wish I could find all the words to say why I like her the best. 2. Erica Hartmann She's got that loose cannon attitude spunk, which is actually more pure spunk in a way than Miyafuji. Yet..different. She's got all the attitude and fun...while...being fun instead of a jerk. She makes you feel like you life would brighten up just by being around her. Even if she ruins it. 3. Lynette Bishop I think I'm sorta feeling the main crush Miyafuji was feeling on Lynette here as I saw her, minus the boobs. I think seeing her with Miyafuji all the time, getting to see her personality, she was just plain moe. And by moe I mean she just looks so huggable. 4. Sanya V. Litvyak Ah, the silent girls. I'd lie if I said I didn't love them as well. And to add on to this, she's sleepy all the time when we see her. She looks mysterious. She acts mysterious. And it all adds to her being a massive moe. Personally, I want to get lost in her own little dreamworld. 5. Eila Ilmatar Juutilainen Well who knew the Finnish character would be so low on my list. Just goes to show...I mean hey, just because I have a Finnish username doesn't mean I'm gonna liker her because of her nationality. I think at least half of her appeal is her relationship with Sanya. Really, I don't know in the end, but she is kinda fun. 6. Francesca Lucchini She's got all the personality of Erica, although with twice the clumsy, and half of the deviousness, and about an eighth of the authority. She's a lot of fun. But there's really nothing to her that sticks with me, so she gets a six. 7. Mio Sakamoto Ahhh...you know it's surprising how low she is on this list. She's for certain my favorite non-loli character of this show. Wait does she even have smaller chests than Minna. Seemed like it but looking back on the profile list in bras, it actually seems like she might have bigger chest than Minna. So that rules that out. My flat chested preference. But in any case, what is it? For one, she's got that whole Samurai honor thing going on. Which means she's tough. And yet it's all so inviting. But you know I can't really label it that either because it's so subconscious. Sometimes a strong, independent character is all so inviting, and at other times a less dominant or even downright weak and cowering character who acts submissively character, can be equally inviting or uninviting and standoffish. I really wish I could explain all my conscious and subconscious attractions to characters. But it's mostly a subconscious thing and I can't say very easily. But I will say...the things about her that make her a strong, dominant character, with authority, is very attractive, a long with her character design. Hartmann is strong and dominant without the formality....and what's the word. Structure. That's what the difference is, structured, physical, authority. And yet without ever being brittle. She's very warm. In the way that such a personality needs to come to be attractive. She is and sounds like a military commander who loves her troops. And that somehow firm warmth is very appealing to me. 8. Charlotte E Yeager She's one of the more interesting of "adult" characters. She's got the sort of fun loving attitude I see in the other fun loving characters than I like. She's real exciting and I look forward to seeing her in the series, and yet somehow...less so that the other characters that I have above her. And the thought of spending the rest of my life with her in comparison to the other characters up there make me go :/. I more enjoy her for the needed element of character interaction she brings. Than herself as a dreamgirl. 9. Gertrud Barkhorn She kinda reminds me of why Minna isn't that high on my list. She's just kinda blah all around. She's got plenty of attitude, appearingly, but it doesn't amount to anything interesting. And I doubt she'd be anymore interesting if she got a decent amount of screen time. 10. Perrin-H. Clostermann Too prissy and tsundere. Then again that only applies to girls/guys she doesn't like. Eh, just in overall personality, which hers is the only one like it in the show, has never appealed to me. It reminds me of watching Shinku and Suiseiseki in Rozen Maiden and going "bleck". And whatever other anime shows that applies to. But it does grow on you after a while. 11. Minna Dietlinde Wilke I dunno how to say it,...but she was kind of boring. I hate to say it that way too. She had the whole mother figure of the whole thing. And while I sort of liked her whole smiling, nicer personality, it never really amounted to anything. And as for the "non-loli" girls of Strike Witches, I much rather like and have them flat chested and GAR like Mio Sakamoto. Now THAT'S a woman! Now that's not to say I dislike any of the characters. You know...just someone has to come in last place. As well as first. I'm actually quite fond of the whole cast. Just as I am with Lucky Star. |

I just joined and I have only finished season 1, but here are mine: 1. Charlotte E. Yeager- I am not entirely sure why she is my favorite. But I am always eager to find out more about her and for her to have more screentime. She is adorable and fits her role of the American/Liberion girl perfectly. I enjoy that despite being a bit tomboyish and an excellent mechanic, she still displays many feminine traits as well. She seems loveable but not to the point of being annoying. 2. Mio Sakamoto- She was my favorite of the more developed characters. She seems to be the ideal leader and I enjoyed her backstory as well as the fact that her fate with the Witches can already be determined, yet she is going to keep going until the end. She is a confident yet kind woman and her relationship with each girl is different, but there is something special about each one. 3. Francesca Lucchini- I'll admit that she wasn't the deepest or most developed character, but I found her to be the main source of comic relief in the series. It seems like she should just be an annoying character but I find her to be adorable and a laugh riot. She is the youngest and her personality humorously enhances that fact. 4. Erica Hartmann- I saw her as the "maverick" of the group and with a pretty unique personality. She was great at telling it like it is and saying out loud what you know everyone is thinking. The sad part is what very little screentime and characterization she was given. With that she would probably be higher on the list. Maybe more in season 2? 5. Lynette Bishop- She was kind of the stereotypical faithful sidekick. But she is one of the cutest sidekicks I've ever seen! And she always stands by her best friend even if she seems to be a bit jealous of her. She is also one of the characters who seemed to change the most as time went on. She and Yoshika complement each other perfectly and she is a perfect love interest for the protagonist (if that's how it's going to end up, anyway). 6. Perrine H. Clostermann- She was definately the most irritating of the 11 but the series would not have been complete without a character like her. She is the one you "love to hate" and the rival of the protagonist. She will naturally be hated by a majority of the audience but she actually plays a vital role. She is there to challenge the protagonist and create some tension with the rest of the cast. She does this pretty well and, additionally, is a great comic relief character due to her snobbiness and doting attitude towards Mio. And the fact that she is "troubled" makes the audience a little more sympathetic. 7. Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke- Like Mio, she is a good leader but she is also a great foil character for Mio. She could be annoying but was still respectable and a mature leader, especially for her age. She stuck strictly to the rules even when it was obvious she was struggling with it. Interestingly, she also seemed to be the only Witch with an apparent interest in the opposite sex... 8. Yoshika Miyafuji- She was exactly like every anime heroine I've seen so far. She is likable, although her naivete becomes ridiculous at times. She is fun to root for but a less stereotypical protagonist may have been more entertaining. 9. Gertrud Barkhorn- She came off sort of bland and a bit of a jerk, but she was also a necessary character in that she seemed the most serious about the situation at hand. The story with her sister was kind of predictable but still interesting enough. It is also enjoyable to watch her try and hide her true colors towards the end of the season. 10.Sanya V. Litvyak- She is a sweet and cute character. She is likable enough but otherwise bland. There doesn't seem to be much to her... 11. Eila Ilmatar Juutilainen- At first, I thought she would be another rival for Yoshika as she seemed kind of hostile towards her. I would have rather seen that but it seems like, after one episode, she went back to just being the weird, bipolar girl that was in the backround most of the time. Now, I don't dislike any of the characters but I feel it almost would have been better to "blend" some of them into one, more developed character and have 2-4 less characters. Pretty neat show though XD Helped you out there with the spoiler tag Shoujo-k! :D |

Back when I first became a fan, I used to rank them 1-11 like this. But eventually I grew to love them all. First Sanya was my favorite, then Mio, Lynne…well, you get the idea. Instead I’ll give pros and cons for each character in alphabetical order, and why I like them. Gertrud Barkhorn: Trude is one badass soldier girl, yet still maintains a certain beauty (I love her twin-tails). Her toughness comes at the cost of being stubborn, which can often create friction between her teammates. But when her friends are in danger, she's willing to risk her life for them (as seen in 2.4) IMO she also has the best physique/body, without being too muscular. Not that I drool over any of them, but I am a guy after all ;) Lynette Bishop: Lynette is sweet, kind, and incredibly friendly. Like many of the Witches, what's not to like about her? She does have trouble in certain combat situations, and feels helpless sometimes. But even she pulls through, especially when Yoshika's around. That's partly why I love Lynne/Yoshika, they're such great friends! Perrine Clostermann: When we first meet Perrine, she comes off as snobbish and rude. But she isn't like that on purpose; she's just jealous. Sometimes, even afraid. Afraid of losing everything that's important to her, particularly Gallia and Major Sakamoto. Although she comes off as the most tsundere and doesn't always get along with the younger Witches, Perrine always tries her best to get the job done. Erica Hartmann: Definitely one of the more popular characters of the 501st JFW, Erica has a smile that is as charming as it is infectious. Her laid-back tendencies help balance out Trude's more serious attitude. The one minor flaw I see is that Erica lacks a lot of motivation. But while it seems like she's completely care-free, Erica cares enough that she'd do anything for Trude (2.10). Eila Ilmatar Juutilainen: Eila's mischievous (hence the fox ears and tail) behavior is often overshadowed by her desires to take care of and protect Sanya. What makes her so much fun to watch is that she tends to get underneath others' skin, without going too far. She's playful and funny - especially with Perrine - but still shows vulnerabillity, mainly when around Sanya. Sanya V. Litvyak: Shy, quiet, and plays the piano. We all know Eila loves Sanya, but who doesn't? While she's very sleepy most of the time, Sanya actually hides something inside: a longing to be reunited with her family again. She might be the most moé of the group, but that's not entirely why she's popular. There's just something about her that stirs your maternal instincts (or if you're into lolis, she can stir other instincts.) Francesca Lucchini: She might like grabbing boobs a little too much, but it's still easy to love Francesca, and I could state all of the obvious reasons why. Oddly enough, I find her appealing simply because of her nationality. Romagna (Italy) is the most beautiful country in the world, wouldn't you agree? But it's not just that, of course. I think out of all the Witches, Francesca loves her country the most, to the point where she sobs at just the thought of losing it to the Neuroi (2.11). Yoshika Miyafui: The leading lady of Strike Witches! If there's one thing that best describes Yoshika, it's her love of helping others. The opening theme in Season 1 "That Which I Can Do" is pretty self-explanatory of who Yoshika is. She might be kind of a pervert (dreams about Lynne's breasts in 1.5) but like Lynne, she is very friendly. While initially turned down by some of the Witches early in Season 1, she gradually mends relations and makes everyone around her better, despite being a little on the naïve side. Mio Sakamoto: First of all, the laugh. It's how I described Erica's smile: infectious. I prefer Saeko Chiba's a tad more, but I won't discuss seiyuu here. In any case, Major Sakamoto is strict and tough, however it all comes from love. Sometimes her pride as a warrior gets the better of her, and as a result she recklessly puts her life in danger (1.9). Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke: I'll admit, it was a little difficult for me to enjoy Minna as a character in the beginning. Usually the authoritarian figures aren't very popular. But over time, I saw her less of what she had to be - a strict leader - and more of what she wanted to be: an older sister. Balancing duties and love can be a complicated job, but if there's anyone who knows how to do it, it's Minna. She's also very attractive, I might add. Charlotte E. Yeager: Shirley is just really fun to be around. Her easygoing lifestyle certainly fits the Ameri - er, Liberion mold. Understandably, it's difficult to put in words why we love her. She just seems like your typical red-headed, big-breasted Liberion girl. But if I could put it into words, I think Shirley herself just reminds us of why we watch Strike Witches in the first place: to have fun and not take things too seriously. |

Just wanted to update my ranks. #1 Gertrud Barkhorn I love a women who can kick ass and fight to the bitter end. Plus I like how she act's so tough but is kind on the inside. #2 Eila Juutiainen, Now this one was quite different from the rest. A pilot that was never shot down quite amazing if I do say so myself. plus she's had a few lol moments. #3 Minna Wilck I love her voice and she had a interesting background story. Out of all the characters her's was different. A lost love that was never forgotten I felt sorry for her. #4 Charlotte Yeager miss fast, big, and soft. Even though she didn't get much of a background story I thought she was a care free badass. #5 Lynette Bishop, Now what a sweet heart she's so kind and always trying to better herself. Reminds me of me.lol #6 Mio sakamoto, I've found new respect after seeing her use her blade as a shield in S2 quite the bad ass. #7 Yoshika Miyafuji, #8 Erica Hartmann #9 Sanya Litvyak #10 Francesca Lucchini #11 Perrine-H Clostermann |

I could never rate them! I Love them all so much! I guess though if I had to pick my favorite it would be Erica Hartmann. So many different reasons, but still, how can I not love any of them? This anime is the only anime to change my life to such a large degree - seriously. So yea, cool and all to see all you guys' opinions, but I just love them all! ^^ |
