"Well I am being used as a scapegoat for a higher up family member. We have been taken by a rival group. I was going to leave the city but......I wanted to see you one more time" Mizuki explained, thinking it was a mistake to see Kayo since she is now caught up in all this.
"I..." Kayo felt wordless, looking down and trying to understand everthing that was happening and was being explained to her. "Mizuki... I'm happy you came to see me" she said, having wanted to see her at least a last time.
Mizuki smiled then the car stopped and the back was opened. They pulled them out and took them to a prison like cell and threw them in. "The boss will be with you soon" a man said then shut the door.
Kayo backed against a wall, scared of anything that might happen to them. She didn't want to see Mizuki hurt, and neither herself. "I'm scared..." she said.
"Yes I will make sure they don't harm you" Mizuki said however she was quite sure they would not harm Kayo. It was her they wanted. A short time later the boss arrived with four other men.
Mizuki stood infront of Kayo. The boss just chuckled "No worries Mizuki. We will not harm the girl." he said then motioned to his men who grabbed Mizuki and took her out of the cell, leaving Kayo alone.
Kayo moved her hand to try and grab Mizuki but she of course didn't reach her. After being left alone, Kayo simple folded her legs and grabbed them with her hands as she was sitting. She sighed and put her face against them.
Kayo was left alone for several hours. They finally returned with Mizuki who was battered and beaten. She was thrown into the cell and just laid there barely moving.
Mizuki hugged back "....I know...." she said but was't sure she could do anything. Over the past few days Mizuki was subjected to beatings and torture. Kayo remained unharmed. They fed her and gave her water but they made sure she didn't save any for Mizuki who was also being deprived of food and water. She get weaker by the day. They open the cell and throw her back in when they were done for the day.
Kayo cried more and more as the days passed. Even if she was fed, she felt so weak, seeing Mizuki suffer like that. She was becoming so desperate, only being able to cry and hug Mizuki...
Kayo said nothing since she slowly dozed off. She got weaker and weaker over night and it seemed like if she wouldn't make it another day. When the sun came up the men came in and this time with the boss.
"Look like you will have to say your last goodbye's to Mizuki" he said coldly.
Mizuki said nothing then with all the strength she she had she leaned over and kissed Kayo. "I...love ...you Kayo" she said on her ear so only she would hear then was just dragged off."
"Mizuki!!!" Kayo said as Mizuki was dragged out. Kayo pummeled on the floor, breaking in a torrent of tears against the floor. "No... please no..." she kept repeating.
Some time had past before a commotion can be heard. The cell door flew open and a group of people stood there then grabbed Kayo "Follow us" a man said as they ran out. Men started shooting at them and they fired back until they made their way to a van and drove off.
"What do you think Hibiki" a woman driving said to the man who led Kayo out.
"Not sure. We need to get her some medical attention right away" he said, referring to Mizuki who was laying in front of him unresponsive.
Kayo looked at everyone, hoping, at least once they let her see the person she loved. "Could I see her please? I need to see her..." she asked the medic.
Kayo walked towards Mizuki and stood beside her for a moment. "Mizuki..." she said with a weak voice as she kneeled beside her. She slowly caressed Mizuki's hand and saw the tears that fell on it from her eyes. "I'm sorry... I am so weak... And I couldn't do anything for you... I'm sorry Mizuki... But I love you... I do" she told her, crying on her hand for a moment.
Mizuki lightly squeezed Kayo's hand. A sign that she could hear her.....
.....a few weeks past and Mizuki was taken off life support and was breathing on her own but still comatose. The other explained that they were Mizuki's closes family members and they were angered that she was used as a scapegoat for the higher up member.
"So we worked night and day to find her" Hibiki said "Another day and we would have been too late."
"I understand..." Kayo said, still worried for Mizuki. "I am sorry I couldn't do anything to help her. I feel really weak. But I want to thank her when she wakes up. Thank her for protecting me."
"I think you gave her strength just being there. Giving her something to live for" Hibiki said then the other came in.
"Is it done?" he asked
"Yup. As far as they know Mizuki died from the injuries they gave her." the girl said. "We even provided a death certificate and a viewing of a body." she said. "Of course the body wasn't Mizuki but it looked just like her."
The news made Kayo so glad. For once she felt a ray of hope that Mizuki would finally live peacefully. That is what she hoped at least, that she would choose her as the person to live with.
Mizuki smiled then took Kayo's hand and kissed it before dozing off again to sleep.....
......a few weeks past and Mizuki was able to leave the hospital. They had a fake funeral for Mizuki to make sure she was safe. They sat in a black car across the street watching the service.
"Kinda strange to watch your own funeral" Mizuki pointed out.
Mizuki smiled back then leaned in for a kiss before starting the car down the road and away from that life and onto her new one with the one she loved.
