I am thinking about paying the for package that gets sent to you. If anyone else has done this and gotten a positive or negative experience from it, please share!!

I personally wouldn't do it. If you have some artistic talent, then it might be better to just practice on your own by looking off of a variety of manga. People tend to develop their own styles this way rather than following a set of directions on "How to" draw. The way you perceive manga is going to be different than say, the guy in the videos at that site. There are so many possibilities. This site may be a good reference, but think before you spend money on them especially when they provide free tutorials. If you need the art pens and such, it would be better to get them from an art store, since they have higher quality.

Hmm, thanks! I have drawn people before and animals such as horses. I'm pretty good but have never tried manga & I imagine it's pretty different. I think I may just buy some "how to" books for reference, and see how it all works out.

Good points.

I agree with Chidashi, there's a ton of free tutorials, guides, and other such material online if you want to learn how to draw anime.
Personally, I'm a firm believer that you have to learn realism before you learn stylization. Not only will it help you develop your own style easier, but you also learn the fundamental basics of anatomy, which will help greatly when you have to draw things without a reference.
You have to learn the rules before you break them, right?
Although this isn't something that should be forced on anyone, since it takes years to learn how to properly draw the human figure.
It's a lot of work you know.
But, if you draw for fun then by all means, go at it in whatever way you want to.
Deviantart usually has great tutorials on how to draw anime and manga, so I think that's a good place to look. Doing some searches on Youtube also brings up some video tutorials on drawing anime as well.
But no matter what, if you want to be good at something you have to practice, so be patient and have fun with it.

I agree with Chidasi. If you just followed the tutorials. I think you'll get their drawing styles. Not ours. So, I guess it's better to learn it by yourself..

I do draw realistic human figures as well as landscapes and some fancy lettering. I have just never tried my hand at manga, and would very greatly like to. Didn't know quite where to start but I think I'll do more research, thanks!

What type of computer do you use? Do you have a scanner/printer combo? There are programs out there that help you skip steps like cutting out tones, setting up pages (lines, words, effects, etc), organizing names, and even fix semi-nice looking names into an actual manga-like layout if you practice hard enough and have some skill with photoshop-like programs. Otherwise, just drawing out a whole script, scanning the pages, and then uploading to do minor edits and adds might be a lot easier for you if you lack in that department.

Hmm, let me clear something up. I only use my hand as my art tool. No mouse or computer :p

You shouldn't need to buy anything. The other month my sister picked up a guide book to drawing manga at our local library. If our library has something, then I wouldn't doubt yours does too. That is, if you can't find anything satisfactory enough online.

I sifted through the book a bit but it doesn't interest me as much as actual artists. I was never able to draw people. I haven't drawn anything in years and when I did, it was always cities and random architectural plans that came into my head.

Just take figure drawing classes they are cheap as fuck and you will learn more from that then anything.
It doesn't think, it doesn't feel, it doesn't laugh or cry..... All it does from dusk till dawn is make the soldiers die.
