"Little conclusive information has been made public regarding the brunette in glasses who made an appearance in the trailer. However the marketers have given one small piece of information in the newly released Nintendo DS game, Petit Eva: Evangelion@Game (ぷちえう゛ぁ～EVANGELION@GAME～, Puchi Eva ~Evangelion@Game~?). In the super-deformed Evangelion game, the player collects prizes by passing levels. The final prize in the game received from the last level is a character picture of a brunette girl with red-framed glasses named Mari (マリ, Mari?). The description for the item simply reads "Mysterious girl.""

Anyone know anything more about her?

This is the new girl for the movie. I saw from the report that Maaya Sakamoto is voicing her. Full name is 真希波・マリ・イラストリアス.

Which is the same reason as to why I was so disappointed with the movie. We are not supposed to know anything about her. She is a marketing stunt, material for merchandise, fanfics and porn.

She actually managed to be pretty awesome in the movie, and helped move about the plot near the end. The preview would indicate that she's going to be more important in 3.0.

Do you think her name is supposed to be Romanized as "Mary" since she is British-Japanese and all that? "Mary Illustrious" Makinami?

Also, the religious significance of Mary, since this is EVA and all...
