I recently just bought Calamity Trigger and liked it so much that I also went and bought Continuum Shift. I have to say I was slightly disappointed with Continuum shift. I was wondering how other people felt about it?

I think it depends on whether your favorites got nerfed or not and whether you care about the DLC or not. If your characters didn't get nerfed and you don't care about the DLC, then CS loses its significance.

To answer the question (being a Ragna/Litchi): I'm perfectly fine with CS as a whole. The only thing that literally bugged the hell out of me was Bang in Challenge Mode. His teching and instant blocking "skills" are beyond ungodly...to the point where I can't even do some of the basic combos.

I would say if you are strapped for cash, Calamity Trigger is the way to go, but if you want the most the series has to offer, then Continuum Shift is the better choice.

Some of the characters from the original Blazblue got the boot, and the series now has new characters, along with others that will be added via PSN and XBL. There have also been tweaks and rebalances to the existing characters of course. Since I am too lazy to type out all the gameplay changes, I'll just copy it from wiki.

Copy and pasted from wiki:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Guard Libra system which utilizes a tug-of-war gauge has been replaced with the new Guard Primer point system. Each character has a certain amount of points (e.g. Tager has a maximum of 10 primer points while characters like Carl or Ragna have 4 and 5 respectively). These points are depleted whenever moves with "Guard Break" properties (e.g. Jin's "Gale" or Hakumen's "Forward C") are blocked. Upon depletion of all points, the character is immobilized for a certain period of time known as Guard Crush. Barrier blocking can be used at critical times to prevent a Guard Crush by consuming 50% of the Barrier gauge instead. Primer points regenerate over time or after all points are depleted.

Barrier Burst has been replaced with Break Burst, a similar ability but with different penalties. Break Burst can only be performed twice in a single match, and its second use can only become available if you lose a round. It no longer permanently drains your Barrier Gauge or gives you the "DANGER" penalty. A free unused burst is required for Astral Heats. Bursts have different properties depending on when they are used, as the offensive "Gold Burst" has high bounce and combo-ability and the combos initiated by it can kill while the defensive "Green Burst" will provide invincibility for the entire burst motion at the cost of permanently halving your maximum primer points. All lost primer points due to Green Bursts will never recover.

Astral Heat conditions have been changed. Instead of requiring it to be the final round and the opponent being within 20% health, it now only requires it to be your match point round and your opponent being below 35% health. It still requires 100% heat and now has the additional requirement of a freely available unused Burst.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personally, I prefer "Continuum Shift" over the first game, as I love all the extras we are getting.

My problem with CS is the new controller configuration ie the new easy mode. Personally I'm a lazy player and any short cut for not having to remember input commands for specials and Distortions is welcome but in CS they don't offer that unless you are in easy mode and then it takes all the real fun out of it since your character just randomly does specials when you don't really want them to and you really have little control over them. I like how Calamity Trigger on the 360 allows you to set some of your specials and distortions to the RS button but still maintain control of what your character does otherwise. I guess I'm saying I wish normal mode allowed for easy distortion and specials like in the past game.

Then there is the fact that I don't think a few new characters and extras warranted a new game price tag. I guess I was just expecting more.

New moves, rebalancing, new characters, new story, challenge mode, legion mode, tutorial mode, better (questionable) online stability, and new options online isn't worth 40$? There's something wrong here.

Also, it really isn't that hard to do 214B for your Ice Cars or w/e the moves for your favorite characters are. I pretty much memorized everyone's special moves from 3 days of playing when I first got CT. So it's either you're extremely lazy, or you just don't care enough about the game. There's no need for easy specials, because if you don't input everything you're still letting the game play for you. Where is the fun in that?

P.S. - This wasn't ment to call you out or anything and it wasn't written outta hate or anger. I'm just saying my opinion on the matter. So, no offense intended.

No offense taken at all.

And your opinion is correct I guess easy specials are just about the same as playing in easy mode. I guess over all my problem may not be with the lack of easy specials in normal mode, since in calamity trigger after a few hours I was able to pretty much get the moves for my favorites Litchi and Noel memorized in CT, but with easy mode it self and how people who have never picked up the game before are able to pick up moves that took me hours to memorize and continuously spam me with them. Though thinking about it thats not really an issue with the game but more with the people I play against, since the lack of availability in the dead zone area I call home of a fast enough internet connection to allow online play through xbox live really ilimits my opponent choices to people I actually know.

As for the new challenge and legion modes I haven't gotten into them fully yet. I jumped right into story and versus modes and I just bought the game night before last and only really got into playing it yesterday. So my opinion is more of a first look opinion of the game I'm hoping once I get more time to really sit and play the game I'll begin to love it as much as I do calamity trigger.

Online is stable but worse. (Doesn't screw up as much but everything just seems more laggier..)
BBCS is better in every way barring that. The only reason why you'd want to get BBCT is for the story.

And i kinda miss easy specials.. While I don't use them, for some people it was nice having it there since not everbody can do 632146's easily (half-circle back>foward).

Hakumen main here. CS is pretty good, even if the online isn't as good as CT's. I expect ASW to fix that soon though.

Bang being S-Tier is more fun than Nu-13 being S-tier anyway, cause of ninja shenanigans.

Also, on the topic of easy mode: They can't barrier burst, which is a HUGE part of the game's mechanics. It's a double edged sword.

I also just kick people using it from my room anyway.

CS has a lot of new features which is nice. The story mode was also much better which is also nice. But for me the online isn't half as fun as it used to be in CT and that's where a 2D fighting game should try to shine.

Fighting Ragna/Jin all the time in CT got kind of boring but it could also be amusing at times and whenever you had the rare opportunity to fight a less common character like Hakumen or Rachel it was really fun. But fighting the now buffed Ragna and Tager all the time in CS is just annoying as hell.

CT > CS for me.

Yep, older and less popular, but a far better game with more depth and style to it.

Like CS a lot more better even though my main got nerfed to hell. Bye-bye awesome zoning T-T. The changes they did to barrier burst was something that was needed. I didn't like getting punished with taking more damage for breaking out of a long combos to just only get killed by the next short combo. Also being able to play arcade/training while waiting for someone to fight online is very nice.

i think the games are basically the same. sure CS has new characters and some new modes, but the fighting aspect is the same. Some move sets were redone and the guard break thing is different, but that really has no real impact on the game itself. The online is better in the first one, but with the new characters and such in CS there is no reason to buy the first one.

Nothing wrong with that man, heck, I still buy Genesis and SNES games to this very day. :)
