anime that meet these conditions..

Hey guys i'm looking for an anime where like there is a character that is good at something and then a new character makes an appearance and people think he's crap but he turns out be skilled/powerful or w.e. For example like in prince of tennis, when they first mention echizen people thought he an amateur but turns out he was pretty pro.
So is there any anime like that to do with fighting or w.e or like if they have powers or something...
I know its pretty vague but yeah i was jus lookin for something like this :p

Maybe it is just me but you use "like" a lot, other than that maybe "one outs" would fit the criteria you were asking for.
It isn't about fighting but rather about mind games in sports. Especially the first episodes meet your requirements.

try the following:

Berserk - Gutz is pretty well looked down on at the beginning

Full Metal Panic! - pretty much has what you described(won't spoil it for you)

Hayate the Combat Butler! - while its parody comedy, does fit the bill in terms of main lead being looked down upon

Hunter x Hunter - a classic oldie where the main prot is very talented and the people he's around with are always surprised with his skills

One Piece - main character/s involved are looked down on till they actually get into fights

I swear, people who looked down on him are idiots. The dude was buff, has a huge ass sword, and scars to go. And eyes like it would kill.

Another would be Needless. Bad guys keep dissing the main for being a loser, when his muscles are so disproportionately ridiculous and have a ridiculous power to boot.

comparing guts to when he was younger(buff as he was), he was pretty much a toothpick when they had scouted him

as for Adam being looked down on, well yeah that was just plain stupid as he was buff from the beginning...but i think all shonen are like that to give young boys dreams
