| I mean, it's Korean, not Japanese. Anime is just "Japanese animation". That's what the word means when it's used as a loanword in English (otherwise, it makes no sense to use the Japanese word at all). It's a bit insulting to another culture to refer to them by the Japanese word just because (from a western perspective) they "feel similar". If we want to use the original Japanese word's definition that encompasses all animation, then we might as well add Spongebob and Tom and Jerry if we're adding Korean, Chinese and other countries' animation/comics to MAL. |
