Tsuchiura's backstory is closely tied to the Kijin Gentoushou lore, as he used to be the pupil of Kaneomi the swordsmith, who forged the four demonic blades with his wife's blood. Said wife, Yato (aka Nanashi), also makes yet another appearance.

The parallels between Jinya and Tsuchiura are starting to show, as coincidentally, both hail from Kadono, albeit centuries apart.

It is important to note that at the time, Tsuchiura was not a demon yet, despite being ostracized and called "demon kid" due to his big stature.

Although Jinya used Assimilation at the end of the episode, things are not that quite easy

Feel free to ask anything

Oh, so he wasn't a demon back then, wish they would insult him in a different way then :<

Can you explain about the "humans conflict" that demons should stay away from, and what does Tsuchiura's master wants? That part was confusing to me

@Hirugiku Well, we are in 1867, the Bakumatsu period. Japan is currently in a big inner turmoil, people are rebelling against the shogunate, conflicts in Kyoto are daily occurence (Edo is somewhat more peaceful). In a month, the shogunate is going to be abolished, in 1868 January, the Boshin war is going to break out. This is all because of the 1853 arrival of the "black ships" and Japan being forced to open up for trade, which they talked about in some earlier episodes (first cour)

Yasuhide is trying to maintain the status quo by strengthening the shogunate's authority with demons in Kyoto, to which Jinya basically says "fuck you, don't interfere with history"

Has he always been able to steal abilities at will? I thought (or I guess have assumed, rather) it was from defeated/dead demons.
Or has he only been doing it after defeating them by choice rather than assimilation ability requirement?

Thanks for the Q&A's you've done throughout the season, haha

I'm glad I could help, questions like this are also a great opportunity for me to reread some details I had already forgotten

I really need to rewatch this season when it ends. I know Kaneomi and Nanashi have been recurring characters but only after reading your comment I understood better that they lived centuries in the past. With so many seasonals I'm watching it's been hard to keep up with all the lore of Kijin Gentoushou. To Be Hero X is using up all my neurons already lol.

Thanks a lot for these, they make me want to read the novels someday. Can I ask, how much of the whole story is this season going to adapt?

Roughly 1/3, 5 novels out of 14

@Szabesz Now i get it why you said this is your holy bible, Tsuchiura is a well written antagonist that you just can't hate. I still don't get how so many people mistakes Kaoru for Ofuu though lol. Where was she again in the modern timeline? I forgot if you ever explained it before in the past polls
