I realized the setting and how the game was described, and I remembered a pretty cool older fantasy 4x with a style, theme and feel that is very familiar.
The game is Warlock: Master of the Arcane and Warlock 2 The Exiled.

Thought I post this here for people that might be interested in the base game for the premise.

Thanks for sharing. Do you think there is a modern version of the game?

Actually, it's based on some of the oldest Online games there are: Colony & Empire, but you really have to be an Old Fart like me to remember those. Still most games can trace some DNA or RNA back to those, if they are Strategy/turn-based.

@Sunnya05 Warlock 2 is from 2014 and the complete edition of Warlock: Master of the Arcane is from 2012, both can be easily bought on steam for around 20€/$ each and given that the graphic is somewhat timeless it can be a fun ride for a few days.
I just checked I played the first game for around 30 hours and the second for around 60 and as far as I remember that was just me trying out the game, so you probably will get a good amount of hours out of these games (or you just buy them in a sale someday).

If I remember correctly you can play them in multiplayer, but, similar to what is described in the anime, the balance is a bit whacky, they didn't try to make an eSports title fun is the main thing and if that means giving you some OP stuff they do that if they find it fun.
I remember very hazily that I got some Werewolfs through some event and because you can level up each unit through fighting they basically became unkillable because they got so much regeneration through leveling that nothing could deal enough damage to kill them. :D

It reminds me most of Age of Wonders, including the old school ones (1, 2, shadow magic). But I'd be interested in knowing the Author's exact influences aside from it being broadly fantasy 4x.
ow + nw = 90-2000s
