Here I am, making a very mundane, non-controversial, and non-satirical thread for y’all. I hope this is more to your liking!

So, it’s actually recommended to wipe your phone screen daily to minimize the spread of germs and bacteria. But do you actually do it? Or maybe you do it, but on a less frequent basis? Or do you never do it at all!? (is your screen a disgusting mess of fingerprints and old finger oil??)

I wipe it with my t-shirt when I can't read shit, or when I got food on it.

@Deathko Are you the kind of guy who wash their hand to eat their food but use his phone while eating? 🤔

@MYZIC I'm not sure if you should give advice about cleaning, you seem like the kinda guy who doesn't shower regularly.

@fleurbleue I only shower if absolutely necessary because showering is a psyop to sell soap from the soap companies

@fleurbleue Opposite. I don't use my phone while eating, but I'm also unlikely to wash my hands before eating, unless I'm eating a sandwich after handling some shit phytosanitary products. I wash my hands before cooking tho 🤔
Hygiene, like many other things, can be harmful when it's overdone, so I'm not too paranoid about eating some germs here and there.

Food on screen is because i tend to put it screen down on my table, so shit happens. God help you if you got mayo on it T_T

I drop my phone in a large body of water every couple of years, if that counts. But it's all overrated anyway. I'd rather just wash my hands after touching my phone because there's no way I can keep it clean. Like, I keep it inside my pockets, which is where I also keep my wallet, keys, and everything, so cross-contamination is inevitable no matter how often I wipe it.

I also wash my hands like 15 times per day. Maybe even more depending on the day.

Is that somewhat cultural and your parents never asked you to? Or do you just not bother with it anymore now that you're an adult? 🙃

Is this about the farmers who got Parkinson from eating their sandwiches with hands still coated in pesticide?

Don’t your hands get too dry if you wash them too often? Or do you maybe always carry a bottle of hand cream with you?

Eh, I always carry hand cream with me, but no, my hands don't get dry from just being washed with soap and water. My skin is pristine despite all these years of working out and everything. Like, my hands are so soft and smooth, they look like they belong to an underaged Disney princess that has never broken a nail in her life.

I remember over a decade ago I was inspecting some pneumatic installations at that production facility in my area and there was this girl washing one of the machines with bare hands, and the stuff she was using to clean it was so powerful, her hands were actually bleeding as she was doing that. Like, it was so bad, I felt like I was witnessing some war crime taking place. Like, I can't tell why she wasn't wearing gloves or something, but the moral of the story is... no, just using regular soap would not ruin your hands.

Washing and wiping are very different. I never wash my phone. I wipe it with a screen cleaner maybve twice a year. I put care into making sure I don't use my phone if my fingers are dirty. And certainly not if I'm eating.

I know a girl with some bad case of OCD who would wash her hands so often and so frenetically that they would get all dry and cracked, and blood would start to leak from the crevices of her hands.

I feel like frenchies aren't particularly obsessed with germs. We wash hands after going to the toilet, or when they're dirty. Uncle was a surgeon, he kept telling everybody in the family to not be too hygienist with kids, because that's plain bad for their immune system.
I don't really get why washing hands before eating is seen as mandatory if you're going to use a fork or chopsticks, tbh... Just don't rub your fingers all over the fork, if really germs are a massive concern ^_-

Could be copper (common fungicide, allowed in organic farming too). My current boss had the audacity to tell a newbie that "copper is not toxic, it's a metal". Yeah sure bro, lead, mercury, copper, totally not toxic... We absolutely cooked him with my coworker 😂

I have OCD too, and I've worked in a restaurant where washing your hands every 30 minutes + every time you touch raw products was mandatory, and I've had to wash 2000+ plates on average at the end of the day. I've never experienced anything remotely close to it. (The worst was the tips of my nails getting slightly cracked but that was because I was always in a hurry and would often hit them on something while trying to reach for the next plate). She just didn't win from the genetic lottery when it comes to skin/hands.

I give it a wipe every now and then if it ends up getting greasy, not super often though I would say since I have a proper leather case for it.

Pretty regularly, I hate it when it feels like its dirty so i try to keep the screen as clean as possible all the time. I touch my face a lot and read somewhere that the bacteria and dirt on your phone screen causes massive breakouts when you touch your face

Every time I come back from going outside anywhere I clean it with Clorox wipes. I used to not but then I started getting into the habit of it because of the pandemic now i can’t stop because the feeling of having public touch on my phone and then it spreading from my hand to my face and body while I laze in the house is just nasty to me idk it’s like wearing shoes in the house.
