Season 1 was one of the better, fun isekeis hopefully this season is more of the same. This was more of a reintroduction/reacquaintance episode but I look forward to many more new cute girls.
Also I know she didn't really get out much but really this is the first time she noticed this world had rice and azuki beans?
Oh well, hopefully this season prompts Crunchyroll to put this and season 1 out on Blu-ray, it's a crime they never released season 1 on disc.

I remember spending most of the first season wondering why I was wasting my time on fluff with clunky animation. But I watched the whole thing. This second season, I watched half the episode and just decided: Nah. It's harmless, but... nah.

Episode 2

So after an episode to get reacquainted with everybody, this episode introduces two more monster girls who are older than they look. There's Yufufu, who is a droplet spirit woman who Azusa meets at the special summit. And then there's the undead catgirl Pondeli. Yufufu sure has a nice sense of humor there. And then there's Pondeli, a cute catgirl who somehow forgot to feed herself and ended up in her current state where she spends her day like a hikikomori, playing games in her cute pajamas. But after Azusa makes a visit, she convinces her to use her gaming skills for something useful. The cast just keeps on growing going to show what Azusa can do.

Episode 3

Pondeli has opened up a TGC shop that brings in a lot of revenue. While business is booming, Beelzebub has been really busy as of late to the point where Azusa ends up sneaking into her workplace to see what she's been up to. The merladies who brought her in did a rather poor job of trying to hide her presence as they should have emphasized the point where she needs to remain quiet, and she was given away when they brought one too many boxed lunches. After being discovered, the family is taken to Beelzebub's mansion that hasn't been maintained seeing that her mansion is way too big that she only needed to use the first floor, while leaving the upper floors to fall into disrepair. And even bigger than the house itself is the garden, which is more like a forest as Falfa and Shalsha get lost in it. So Laika and Flatorte decide to have a contest, and it was declared a draw as Laika only cleaned two rooms, and while Flatorte dealt with the entire third floor, she did a sloppy job. This goes to show that bigger is not always better, and Beelzebub's place is just way too big seeing that she was born a commoner, and knows how to make due with far less.

@MenchiK1 Not just once, but twice. First, they uploaded what appears to be subs for next week's episode. And then the right subs were used, but mistimed. They are all fixed now.

Had a feeling from the OP that the new plant girl was a Mandrake and judging from her reaction to a witch I'm probably right
Little sister for Shalsha and Falfa maybe?

Episode 4

And another girl who doesn't look her actual age joins the family. There are rumors of a 300-year-old mandragora and when Eno gets the word about it, she tells all the girls and they invade Beelzebub's garden to find it. After searching the place, it was Azusa who found it, and it just so happens to be a girl who they name Sandra. Pretty crazy stuff that went down as it became a big problem when so many people are after somebody who's afraid of witches.

@HOOfan_1 I also recognized that. She said it should make the soil slightly acidic. That's either an author error, or terrible phrasing and that she meant "it's too acid right now, make it only slightly acid".

Ha, I noticed that too, I was like "No".

Anyway, this season just isn't as ...fun... as season 1. Season 1 wasn't ecchi per se but was surprisingly not afraid to "have fun" with nudity. Blue dragon girl would just spontaneously strip, etc. this ep has 2 jokes about the elf's clothes dissolving and it's 2 little spots and she immediately fixes it with magic :/ Oh well

Episode 5

Shalsha and Falfa enroll in school, but they are having a tough time fitting in. And then Azusa has some gnome mushrooms that cause her to shrink to being a kid for a day, which excites Yufufu as the mother of this family can't help it. They go shopping for clothes where Azusa and Sandra dress up like girls from a noble family. That causes them to get kidnapped by human traffickers, but because Azusa is much stronger than she looks that they were quickly dealt with. And then Azusa returns to her normal self overnight. Pretty cute that was seeing that there's no reason to think she's over 300 years old, but she is.

Well I guess adding Sandra wasn't enough, now Azusa has to be a little girl too. Weird all these women who want to be moms but just skip the whole hooking up with a man and being pregnant part. Yufufu seems like a redundant Azusa if all she cares about are little girls, I thought her and Azusa who have a more normal relationship.

Episode 6

Laika and Fightie really get into it with their martial arts sparring match, but Fightie ends up turning back into a slime just before a martial arts tournament. So Laika ends up entering and despite being in slime form, Fightie still packs quite the punch. Fightie dominates the tournament to win the prize money. Then Azusa and Laika head to Flatorte's homeland in the mountains where they are welcomed by her parents with open arms. And afterwards, their fierce rivalry continues. This goes to show that Laika has a lot of fighting spirit in her, whether it be in martial arts or something like ping pong.

Wait, marital arts girl is a slime too? I don't remember much from the first season. Exactly how many slime girls are there? -.-

This was the appropriate length for a tournament arc.

Show really doesn't seem to be going anywhere though.

Yeah I'd forgotten that too, in fact I forgot her character entirely.

Pretty much.

Eh I don't think it ever was supposed to just SOL, in another world.

That was one of the more entertaining episodes this season (which is admittedly a low bar), back to its roots.

Episode 7

Here comes the pine spirit Misjantie, and she asks to have a sister wedding, so Falfa and Shalsha decide to get married. Not to be husband and wife or even a yuri couple, but as sisters for life. All the girls Azusa met come attend the wedding as the slime twins show up in groom tuxedos, and then wedding dresses. After that, Azusa is gifted with a pine sapling, and seeing how it grew in just three days that something was definitely amiss there as it turns out that Misjantie has built a temple on it in Azusa's backyard seeing that the temple was in a town that was shuttered with only old humans remaining, not exactly good for business.

That was just straight up weird. Even as a joke it would be straight up weird but the show took it completely seriously so its even more weird.

The author just sat down one day and thought "You know what this needs? Incestuous twin child brides.". Then somehow his editor agreed.

@MenchiK1 Even if you wanted to make a sister wedding joke like this wouldn't it be better to pick like her and Beezlebub for comedic effect where you could imply a whacky one sided romance? Instead of the slime twins reading earnest vows to each other.

I meam from the beginning I thought for sure it would be some whacky yuri wedding just to help the goddess or Natalie. I mean I could of thought of any number of whacky scenarios, but who wants this? And what was with the crying?

Episode 8

What started off as a winter vacation getaway to a tropical paradise ends up turning into a horror story. Azusa meets yet another supernatural being in the jellyfish spirit Curalina. She's a horror artist who paints occult things and scary stuff. She's holding an art exhibition at a museum on the island, where she shows off horror paintings, which includes the girls drowning. And then Azusa and company stumble across an ancient civilization that has been living in isolation for several millennia as ghosts ever since the kingdom was wiped out by an epidemic. While they would like to establish diplomatic relationships, the ruler has been a long-time shut-in. The people that Azusa are meeting just keep on getting more bizarre as while Azusa has lived for over 300 years, she hasn't seen anything like this.

Wow a real episode for once, a beach episode (this is a show that surprises me they actually animate a little Gainax bounce) and some new creepy girls. And of course blue dragon takes her clothes off only in the super deformed short this season. Never took Jellyfish for being so dark and depressed, they live such a laid back life. And a hikikomori Egyptian type ghost, well if you're going to be a hikikomori a ghost stuck in a pyramid is probably a good place to be one. No guys lived there?

Episode 9

Azusa and company navigate through several traps in the labyrinth before getting to Queen Muum, who has been unwilling to go outside seeing that there's nothing really to see according to her. But she formed a friendship with Rosalie, and that got her to form an alliance with the demon race as she just needed somebody to reach out to her in order to get out of hiding. And then some special fertilizer comes that turns Sandra from a little girl to a busty grown-up for a day. While she had a fun time being an adult, she feels much more at ease as a kid. So another cute girl shows up as Muum needed some outreach in order to finally get out of hiding, while Sandra shows what a babe she can be when she's grown up.

Episodes finally getting good, too bad it took until the show was half over. :/ Always like a girl with a Kansai-ben (though it's annoying on guys like that white-haired dude on Kowloon Romance), she just wanted someone to appreciate her bad jokes, relatable. I liked grown up sassy adult Sandra (are hot plant girls a new thing? what was that show with the tree spirits last season?), hard to find a girl who likes trees, why did it wear off? It was fertilizer not magic. Since when do adult plants shrink back down to juvenile plants? A backtalking teen is just what her little clan needed not another loli.

Episode 10

It's Pecora's birthday, and she goes all-out for the birthday party as she puts on an idol concert. As Yukari Tamura is a professional singer that she totally nailed it, and I had a feeling she was cast as Pecora with that in mind. But what came after was pretty wild as Pecora had prepared a fancy steak dish with mushrooms that transformed Azusa into a fox. As her fox instincts take over, she goes scrambling to find some abura-age causing damage all over the castle and not even the four generals stood a chance seeing that her level is maxed out after all from killing a bazillion or so slimes for three centuries. But Beelzebub puts a stop to this madness as she knows all her moves, and then has Falta feed her the abura-age she had been looking for. Pretty cute stuff there as foxy Azusa is cute, but her hunger is a different story entirely.

Episode 11

A new temple is being built to worship the frog goddess Nintan, which has Mega-mega on edge as she brings Azusa to confront her. Nintan is somebody who refuses change as Mega-mega attempts to bribe her, but she's not falling for it. So Mega-mega challenges Nintan to a duel, and gets turned into a frog. But Azusa steps in to stop her from bullying somebody who can't fight anymore, and Azusa is given the gold stamp card to get even more powerful despite already maxing out her level. And in the end, Azusa manages to convince Nintan to adapt to the times. That was rather silly with the way things went down, but it goes to show anything is possible when Azusa is around.

Episode 12 (Finale)

It's only fitting for things to end with an event to bring back all the girls Azusa met. And that is for a town festival. The first day has Azusa turning her humble abode into a coffee shop that is so popular that she ended up using a numbered system to ensure that there's no fighting. The first few customers are some familiar faces, which includes Mega-mega and Nintan, who are sitting on a table that's invisible to humans. And then it's the festival with the other girls running their own booths from Pondeli's card game tournament to Fighty's test of strength and Curalina's art exhibit. And to end the festival, Pecora puts on an idol concert like she did for her birthday, and it ends with Azusa singing a song as even though she's reluctant to sing, she's a pretty good singer herself. So with that, this show comes to an end in the only way it possibly could.

Final Thoughts

Pretty much, everything that was great and not so great about the first season applies to this season as well in that it's a show about the relaxing lifestyle, the meeting of new characters, and the comedy with this season being even more lighthearted than the first. This formula works for what this show wants to be about and doesn't do anything overly flashy or extraordinary. So in the grand scheme of things, it's cliched and there's even less of a story this time around as it takes an even more episodic approach to the show than the first season, but it gets the job done, which is more than I can reasonably ask for in this show, so it's on par with the first season.

Grade: C+ (7/10)

Oh wow.
I accidentally watched a seasonal show.
I thought this had finished airing ages ago.
Finished it this morning.

Cute girls doing cute things, so at least it was a relatively harmless watch.
And some moments caused me to smile a little.
But the ending annoyed me being almost a carbon copy of the ending of the first season.
I really wish they did something different.
