So much exposition.... so, so much.

I'm left a bit confused. It sounded like George's family was the illegitimate branch based on the way he spoke of keeping it a secret. And the black dragon spoke of waiting hundreds of years for the Dragon Emperor with the egg responding to Hadis' capture. It seems to me that Hadis is of the true imperial line and George wants to kill him to keep the secret and his hold on power.

Even the dragon queen knows the age gap is super fucked up. Granted she isn't one to talk as she's pining after an egg.

What exactly did stabbing herself with the egg shell do? It didn't unseal her powers but it gave her one super punch because...magic?

I believe that it's not an illegitimate "branch" but that the entire royal family has been illegitimate for some time.

It either temporarily broke the seal or Jill might have absorbed the magic from the eggshell and used that power to give the dragon a nuggie.

If being 'dragon emperor' isn't hereditary, then there's no need for a royal family to be in charge of things.

EDIT: Though uncle burning the scroll and pretending he never saw it, or choosing to believe it was false would have been the much easier option. So I can only assume whatever BS caused the goddess spear to turn into a sword is also warping his mind.

Episode 12 (Finale)

Actions speak louder than bloodlines here, and after Jill stops Hadis from going on a rampage in light of him learning the truth about his bloodline by promising him to make one big happy family, Elentzia and Riestard decide to trust Hadis over George as they are none too pleased with the way George handled the situation. So George transforms into a one-eyed dragon after the fake Heavenly Sword consumes him and Hadis puts his uncle out of his misery. As it turns out, Faris is the one who orchestrated this as she's the reincarnation of the goddess and is the one who made that fake Heavenly Sword using the spear, and is aware that Jill went back in time. She made the spear, then had Gerald give it to George to set things into motion. And after that, the parade in which Hadis declares his emperorship and his marriage to Jill, and to think that Hadis nearly resigned because he couldn't celebrate Jill's birthday with the parade happening the same day. So with that, this show ends with the False Emperor's War being stopped before it starts and Jill figuring out that Faris was pulling all the strings, and while the immediate threat was vanquished, there's still a bigger threat out there as indicate with the dragon egg hatching there at the end.

Final Thoughts

While this is another cliched show involving time travel in a fantasy setting, this one had its charm with great characters, amusing antics, and a solid plot to carry the show. These things along make this show fulfilling to watch. That said, this show's story writing is held back by its need to overcomplicate things as I feel that the flow of the show was continuously impeded by its need to be overly comprehensive. In all, it was a fun time to be had even if the show becomes needlessly complex.

The show had a great combination of action and humor. I really liked the main characters and their interactions... even though their relationship is a bit cringeworthy. This is the right way to finish up a season that suggests more to follow. They defeat the villain, regain the empire, and re-introduce the bigger threat.

I'll go with a 6/10. It was above average but Hadis was so cringe worthy and immature.

The plot was kind of all over the place and went weirder at the end.

That felt like the waste of a good character. I really like Jill, but making her ten was just unnecessary cringe.

I'm wondering if the ending was rushed because it was anime-original or were they racing to get to the end of whatever chapter they were working on.

I went with a 6/10 because I gave Villainess a 7/10 and I didn't want to give this show the same score since I thought the other one deserved to be a full point higher.

Ehhh anyone want to draw a flow chart of what went on there at the end? I couldn't really follow, especially wheelchair girl. Otherwise it was a little interesting with kind of a weird premise. Maybe it would have been better with more episodes, but it didn't so it wasn't. Animation took a LOT of shortcuts there at the end too.

I took the ending to be the one in a wheelchair was either some early reincarnation of the goddess, or a very devoted follower. And the wheelchair was for show.

@marklebid

So what was the deal with her brother? She acted like she had to sneak away from him, and yet we were lead to believe he was obsessed with her, and yeah why did he want to have a fake marriage with Jill? It made sense in this world if his sister had something to do with the goddess and he was trying to stop the dragon bride but all of that was after the fact and didn't even happen in her original life.

In the earlier episodes they said prince Gerard's (I don't know why I remember his name) reasoning to marry Jill was to act as camouflage for his being a sis-con, was also politically expedient, and in fact worked out really well militarily because she was a war god. Unclear if they knew that when planning the marriage but they just dropped casually the final episode that part of the goddess' purview was the future/fate.

The Kratos princess also knew they were all in some kind of timeloop, which goes along with her being at any rate closely linked to the goddess. Maybe the more rational and spiteful part of the goddess, since the essence trapped in the spear is batshit in love with the idea of the dragon emperor.

We can then extrapolate also that since she brought a piece of the spear and made it into a sword for the uncle (still unclear what the end-game was) her story about having snuck away to broker peace between the countries was a lie the whole time. It was her idea because she's a schemer. The transformed uncle recognized her as a servant of Kratos and went to try and kill her.

Felt like all the plotlines included in this should have been spread out over 24 episodes rather than 12.
