| Episode 1 It begins with Ike being raised by the famous demon mage Romberg, who instructs Ike to never reveal his human identity to anybody. But a human maid in Satie found out about his secret and at the very least she's not the type of person to spread word about it. The only other person who knows his secret is the witch Cefiro. Ike is summoned by the demon lord and to his surprise, it's a young girl rather than an old man. She names him the ruler of a small town and nearly finds out about his secret identity. So with that, Ike begins his duties as the newly-appointed demon lord. As expected, A-Cat does yet another terrible job with the animation as they are infamous for their awful CG usage. At least their previous work Highspeed Etoile was fully CGI, which is preferred over their usual style of introducing random bits of CG like in Tamayomi and She Professed Herself, Pupil of the Wise Man. Given the expectations I had for this show, it wasn't the worst thing, but it's far from being good as it's yet another fantasy involving an OP MC with the twist being he's a human leading the demons. |
| Well...this already seems kind of like a "I'm Quitting Heroing" knock off. We have the female demon lord with horns and pink hair. We have the human working with the demons, but he really doesn't want to hurt humans...we have a mysterious lost civilization that was apparently much more advanced than the current civilization. @Astral_Iguana I read at least 20 chapters of the manga for this, but I can barely remember anything that happens in it. The only thing that I recall is that Ike's commander looks very much like a human so I couldn't really work out why Ike bothers to wear a mask to disguise himself. Right, her ears aren't even pointy, and her eyes aren't even slits or red.... |
| At first, I was getting the vibes of I was kicked out of the Demon's Army, but it has me intrigued. I can afford to give it more episodes. I just hope this isn't a show to get me intrigued, then peter out at the end. If I had to rate the first show; I'd give it a 5/10. Decent enough to not be dropped on the premier. |

| Episode 2 After the first episode focuses on the demon side of things, this one is about the humans as they have plenty of issues of their own, just like with demons. Ike and Satie settle in and are gathering intel about their next attack, all while Alistair is introduced. Ike asks her a question about the assassination plot, all while Alistair appears to be onto Ike's secret that he's a human posing as a demon lord. It will be interesting to see where things go, but it's clear that Ike and Alistair are building some sort of relationship as the humans don't seem to like her, all while Ike sees her as somebody with a role in his schemes. |
| What's up with his reflexes? He took the arrow in the back but dodged the surprise knife attack to the back but then got caught with the knife to his throat. Does have he have good perception/reflexes or not? Also did her army really think no one would notice them building siege equipment at the edge of the woods? Heck, you could see them from the walls. |

| @marklebid That's what you get when it's being done by one of the worst studios out there. This studio is notorious for having random bits of CGI, and it's happening in this show as well. At least with the show before this it's all in CGI, but not this. |
| Oof, this is turning into a major dud. If they have enough spies amongst the humans to find out what happened with that general then why would he have needed to go spy in person? The way that city he's in is set up is laughably bad. You could easily sneak a small army of people into it from behind. How does mister super wizard have such bad defenses that a single bowshot could almost take him out? runec said: That was some really awful directing. At first they're in the woods hundreds of feet from the city, then somehow they're running away right beneath the walls.Heck, you could see them from the walls. |

| Episode 3 After all that, Ike simply used his mind-reading ability to tell that Alstair didn't order the assassination, and that the arrow was ordered by a traitor, the one-eyed goblin Jace. So Ike goes in to eliminate him, though destroying the whole town along with him was going to far. He got away, but Ike had a familiar follow him and he was totally helpless against Ike. And then one of his own conspirators poisons him. Ike has quite a big problem on his hands as one of his own is out to get him. |
| This show I swear. He proves, again, that he can block or evade surprise attacks from behind but still took that arrow. Then he's trying to find out who the traitors are and he doesn't use mind reading on Jace. You know, the thing he literally just used to uncover traitors. Then we have a cliff hanger with the entrance of some new unnamed character like we're suppose to know why this is such a big deal. This show's op hypes you up like you're about to watch a show much cooler than what it actually is. |

On the other hand; The Demon Lord's intelligence apparatus must be terrible if he was not only able to rig the entire arena to blow but also have a skeleton army in the back ready to go. |
| I always find stories like this interesting, when they try to make nonhuman entities (such as demons, demihumans, aliens, etc.) seem like just another society that humans are at odds with until some aspiring hero pulls an MLK and inspires both races to work together. The problem being that the nonhumans in question almost always lack some of the basic levels of empathy. Like, yeah, it sounds nice and all that the MC wants to reduce the bloodshed in the war and help the Ubermensch Demon Lord take the throne....but we're talking about a race of beings that not only seem to kill and eat humans just for fun, and barely even understand the concept of empathy when it applies to each other. I also question this "transcendent wisdom" of the Demon Lord whose reaction to finding out one of her generals is a traitor is "Yeah, you found out he's a traitor, but you're just as bad because he paid off your subordinates. So I'll have you both fight to the death"....but I'm gonna hold back on judging that too harshly for now since it's implied that this was all some combination of a test and long-term 4D chess. |

| @MenchiK1 I'm surprised he didn't argue it pragmatically like he did earlier. That it's simply more efficient and profitable if they have people and demons get along in a newly conquered town. Or that if they treat the humans well and words get around then towns might voluntarily surrender. I'd take him more seriously if he argued based on practicality rather than oh I am a human and want everyone to be buddies. Him wanting demons and humans to get along should be his hidden goal that he works towards within the confines of the demon lord's army. He shouldn't come right out and say it to the demon lord. Especially not this early in the show. |

@runec I'm pretty sure the demon lord is supposed to be a love interest. They have as much chemistry as everyone else does.

| Oof, I'm not even sure where to start to list all the problems with this episode. His brilliant plan was shift work? Why bust another hole in your own castle wall? Why wait till after your castle is trashed to destroy the siege weapons? Why send Cefiro after the "reserve force" if the reserve force was only 8 dudes? Her magic would have decimated enemy formations. It's not like the enemy mages could have stopped her seeing as how they were somehow magically captured off screen despite being by the main army. Even just from shot to shot this episode was a mess. Did they not have a storyboard to go by? |

Wouldn't some one showing up that looks like your twin/daughter be noteworthy to you? The marriage thing really came out of left field and just seems like a bad plot excuse to expand the harem. |

| @HOOfan_1 That too. In fact her delaying him basically led to the pirates getting away. It's also a good thing that she just IMMEDIATELY knew he was part of the demon lord's army somehow so he didn't have to explain anything or get in character. On that note isn't his identity a secret from most his allies? How do they think he's going to be able to just waltz into a human city and negotiate a trade deal when they think he looks like a dread lich? Did he actually ride out in full robes and skull face on the horse till they got far enough away? Would anyone actually really care if he came out as human? Even the Demon Lord doesn't seem to have a problem with it. I doubt the succubus would stop lusting after him if she learned he wasn't a lich and actually had flesh and dangling bits. |
| You'd think looking for her would take a back seat to the entire ship burning down around them. What was with that fight? Ike can't stand up to some random pirate wizard despite being the most powerful mage in the demon lord's army? But he suddenly uses water magic too and it's the pirate who is overwhelmed? He just stood there and let Ike sink the ship. You'd think the demon lord would just send a messenger. |
