Not only is this anime original so there’s is no source material, but also this is a movie. I believe the final one at that. It would be foolish not to handle it with care seeing that this is there only shot at ending the series on a good note that satisfies both Shaft, and the Madoka Magica Fanbase. This is one of my favorite Anime of all time, and Shaft only gets one shot to finish it right.

I believe it was because of Shaft’s staff shortage after Fate/Extra: Last Encore. After all, there have been rumors that the script of the movie had been finished since 2014, and I think that Shaft wanted to build themselves back up again before they tackled animating more main series Madoka Magica as they wanted their original to be the best possible.

Since this show is considered a masterpiece by many, the stakes were high. Coming up with a sequel that would meet the audience’s expectations needs time and patience.
