It was emotional but not enough to make me cry. I wasn’t too attached to Ai but i understand her character and her desires. Maybe if they were more in depth with her backstory instead of just saying that she was lonely and had no parents it could have been more emotional(being as in a 10 minute or so flashback on her up bring). Either way it i didn’t tear up at all but i can definitely say it was sad.

3 times I cried in episode 1. The first being the sequence of Ruby dancing in the studio, with her thoughts being of her mom picking her up, and ending with both of them doing the exact same pose. Cried more in the manga when Ruby's reflection in the mirror became her mother's, Ai's final moments, and the video log that was shown in the end of the episode.

Was a pretty touching scene tbh. Showed that Ai really DID want to change herself for the better. Unfortunately she died tho 😩

Definitely threw me for a loop as I was completely not expecting it. A little disappointing though cause I really liked her character and was excited to see her grow more as a mother.

I fully knew what was going to happen and still cried at the end cause I just find it sad whenever a “positive” character dies.

I saw it coming, but what broke me to tears was seeing Aqua's perception of the only star in his life going out then flicks to Ai with a smile on her face and lifeless eyes.

I was spoiled about her death. So, I didn't drip any tears. But there were a few tears in my eyes even when I knew it was coming. It still hit harder. I think maybe it would've hit even more harder if I wasn't spoiled. It was truly amazing.

The only Anime that has been able to do it to me is Clannad.

I never saw it coming, like I thought it was the father, I could not believe it. I myself am a guy who doesn't cry easily, but holy shit, I hadn't cried that hard since I parted ways with my mom and dad. P.S they are not dead, I just live alone now.

It was exaggerated, they tried to make it sad but it happened to be more edgy then emotional.

considering that everyone already spoiled it and already hyped it up like the best thing ever and how Ai's death makes the story 10x times less interesting, lol no

Nope. Her character was quite unrealistic and was merely a quite explicit device to comment on the entertainment industry. She had no personality and whatever was shown was wholly unlikeable. No one talks like she did. Dialogue wasn't organic and was meant as a manipulative device to bring about emotions in the viewer, like that monologue or that video message. Honestly was disgusted by such blatant attempts to evoke sadness.

Same, I really liked the episode and I wanted them to live more together. However I think it was sad :’(

I didn't really invest enough time to like Ai that much and bcs it was only 80 minutes.

I didn't cry, but it made me shake a little tho. And the fact that Ai still wanted to love his fans and she even remembered the stalkers name it just made me touched.

If I had invest more time to see Ai and like her character, maybe I would cry

Regardless of whether I saw her death coming or not, I still cried no matter how many times I watched it. The aftermath of her death affects not only those close to her but also the fans who loved her. As someone who likes idols myself, I once witnessed how an idol's death affected so many fans who depended on them. A hypothetical situation: If Sarina was still alive by the time Ai died, Sarina would've lost her own will to live too.

I had been spoiled and I still cried.
I'm 50, and I have two sons.
I thought about what it would be like to have to tell my small ones goodbye, and miss them growing up. Would I be able to tell them in such a short time what I would need to help them grow to be good people? Could I fit a lifetime of affection, guidance, and support into my last few moments?
Ai didn't just lose the rest of her life, but also the shared lives with her kids, and their kids.

the answer is no
but it open my eyes that how much they look happy, rich and delightful but the reality is really harsh that all what I see.
And it is also painful to see a gir who is a mother also at a age of 19 died infront of her children.
I feel a little sad about her death but more because her children unable to get enough touch of her. The reason is mother is the most precious person to anyone's life she love you for nothing and she stay alive only for you. But they lost her in their early age. It is really very sad.

There needs to be another option:

No I didn’t cry but I also didn’t see it coming. I almost did though! I was definitely shook but it takes a bit more for me to cry. If that happened on the last episode after watching a whole season of her I for sure might have bawled my eye out lol

I enjoyed the episode, but I feel that the emotional buildup leading to her death wasn't strong enough to move me to tears. The scene had potential, but I think it was a little over the top with all the monologue, it gives me like gut punch but not as much I cried on let's say Clannad After Story. Nevertheless, I'm definitely saddened by Ai's departure from the story and I'm more intrigued by Aqua's potential for revenge in the aftermath. [/font]
