Anyone watched Elfen Lied and read the manga for it? How do they compare?

I look forward to watch Vampire Knight anime. I read the manga, and I enjoyed it so far. I wait for volume four release by VIZ next month.

I will post my thoughts on currently watching on anime.

BTW, I'm living near Sacramento.

The ending on anime is different to manga because the manga is going-on. I don't read the manga yet, but I plan to read it someday.

The manga must be better if its still ongoing as the anime was only 13 episodes long. Just think on how much must have been left out.

Also nice matching avatars guys!

It ended in November of 2005.

Yeah it finished a while ago, it's still getting translated online though, chapter 84 just got released a few days ago and it finishes at 107 IIRC. I'll probably watch all of the anime this weekend and get a start on the manga anyway.

Not anymore! I got work mode on for those forums anyway when ever my internet is capped.

Episode 21 of Shakugan no Shana II is all kinds of awesome, epic and was the make-up sex after the horrible first half of the series or so.

That is all.

My anime viewing has just plummeted since the end of February. I've only watched a total of 7 episodes of anime this month. Of course, Chrono Trigger and Super Smash Bros. Brawl are mostly to blame for that.

Watching fansubs on a 60" tv is so much easier and better, especially if you don't have glasses to read subs like me :P Who needs em when your subs are large as highway signs :P

I just erased TTGL off my HD.

I watched the first couple episodes and it was all right, but I was waiting for the whole series to be completed before watching any more. AFAIK, it was never fansubbed past ep 18 or 19, and there have been no new fansub releases for months now, so I gave up on it. I don't watch RAWs and to me an unfinished series isn't worth bothering with, so it was just taking up space on my computer.

If anyone ever finishes fansubbing it, or it actually gets an R1 release, I may watch the whole thing, but its not that high on my wish list.

Gurren Lagann has been subbed for months, and it's been licensed since about halfway(I think?) through its broadcast. I have Black Order subs for 1-18ish, and then BSS Anon subs for the rest.

IIRC Baka-updates for some reason didn't add BBS releases to their updates back than for some reason. But they do now for Kimikiss and Spice and Wolf. The BSS Anon releases were nice, were some of the first HD fansubs I watched.

Anyway dope Macross Frontier fanmade OP using the 2nd Aquarion OP tune.

Well, for some reason, none of the fansub update sites I check has anything listed past 18 or so and to tell the truth I wasn't *that* interested in it to search any further than that.

and it's been licensed since about halfway(I think?) through its broadcast.

I know it's *licenced*, but these days licenced unfortunatly does not mean released, especially since it was ADV that licenced it. Even though they seem to have mostly recoverd from the recent unpleasantness, I still don't see any pre-order announcement for the series on the ADV website.

Anyway, like I said, I wasn't that excited about the series, anyway. I have a lot of other things I want to watch more than TTGL. Maybe I will revist it at some point down the line, if I get hard up for something new to watch.

It took me forever to find a good place to get the episodes. Most of the torrents I found were either missing a few episodes or poorly seeded, and the one I finally got it from was really slow and my client kept banning people for sending bad data. Then you have episodes 5.5 and DVD 6 which made my head explode trying to find them. This anime wasn't easy to get a few months ago. I don't know what it's like now though.

I know it's *licenced*, but these days licenced unfortunatly does not mean released, especially since it was ADV that licenced it.

There is a 0% chance that Gurren Lagann will be released on DVD. >.o

If you want some TTGL, go on IRC and download the first 19 episodes from Black-Order, then get the rest, also from IRC, from the group called "BSS".

So I'd say it's fairly easy to get ahold of them if you happen upon the right information. Myself, I only learned where to get the rest of this series from the above conversation, so much thanks for that. :P

Hmm actually NANA was great for a while but it is starting to build irritation in me. How can the pink haired Nana be so stupid and annoying? Getting a little repetitive how she keeps going from dude to dude with disastrous results (she is kind of a slut)...and as soon as she gets with one the same pattern emerges and you know it wont work out. Even her narration is getting annoying, it makes her sound seriously gay for Nana O half the time, while at the same time referring to her like she is dead or (more likely) separated from her at some point. The show has an ominous enough feeling from the moment that ditz 'falls in love' but that increases the feeling even more, and its a long way (im guessing) before we find out why she is narrating in that manner. I think i really enjoyed this up to the point where
If they stopped then this show would be great but its slipping down my scale with every episode. Think i might put this one down for a while.

So at the end of the 23rd episode of Shana II it has actual scenes instead of the ending credits, maybe if they didn't fuck around for the first 12 episodes they wouldn't have to rush the story at the end.

Episode 13 should've been episode 9 or 10 at the latest, the amusement park episode is one filler episode that should've been cut for sure.

So I take it Shana II hasn't been as good as season 1? I imagine I'll get around to it, but like Nanoha StrikerS, it may be put on the back burner for a while instead.

Anyway, I'm 8 volumes into the To Love-Ru manga, and all the fanservice aside, it's a fun and enjoyable read.

I'll probably end up rating it the same, its best is better than the first season but it just drags horribly in the first half.

To Love Ru is nice fun, hopefully they don't butcher the anime version. You should check out Mx0 which also runs in Shonen Jump with To Love Ru.

Shana II is pretty bad compared to the first season of Shana...

not quite as bad as Gunslinger Girl II compared to GG 1 but its not too far off lol

Maybe if you watch like the first 2 eps then skip to the episode with margary's past(12-13 i think) then skip again to 19, you'd be better off lol

I was actually considering MxO as well. I'm not expecting too much from the TLR anime, but since I generally know what to expect from it now, I can say I'll be watching it.

Have subs for Minami-ke ~Okawari~ 11 been released and the sites I'm using just not uploaded it yet? Though I admit, Okawari has been a bit of a disappointment lately. While season 1 may not have been my favorite slice-of-life comedy, it did provide a constant and consistent level of comedy and laughs that I'm just not getting from Okawari.

I'm also thinking maybe I SHOULD go back to marathoning non-action shows, because while weekly doses of Gundam 00 always satisfies, watching Spice and Wolf and True Tears on a weekly basis hasn't been as enjoyable as when I was playing catch-up. (I'm considering giving True Tears a 7/8 and Spice & Wolf an 8/9, but endings always play a big part in my final ratings. Gundam 00 is a solid 9 at this point though.)

Manga is just more convenient for me atm since I don't like watching an anime episode if I'm going to be interrupted at any stage. A manga chapter is 5-7 mins tops (those being the monthly manga stuff that is 30-60 pages long) and I have no problem talking to someone while reading it.

Also there is a lot of awesome manga around currently being released (Mirai Nikki, Mx0, Superior) and if possible I've been reading the manga version of upcoming anime shows this spring like Soul Eater, Special A, Kure-nai etc.

Btw for Kenshin after the Aoshi mini arc which I think you're either in or about to start Kenshin is pretty ehh for about 10 episodes, but once the Kyoto Arc starts you're in for one of the finest arcs made in SJ history.

Now that I've finally finished it, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is made of Win, Epic and Awesome.

I wonder what kind of series will surpass this. Frankly, I don't think we will be seeing something this consistently Epic for a good while.
