Special A! Or Mermaid melody pitchi pitchi pitch (but its two episodes over what she wanted)

I gotta say this was quite hard XD our taste are so similar! I also wanted to recommend Hayate the combat butler, NANA, tsukutomu moon phase, and the wallflower but they were on her list already XD

Ale-en-ciel

for Ale-en-ciel:
My gift to you is - Kara no Kyoukai #5: Paradox Spiral!
It's the holidays, so I thought I'd give you something short to enjoy. It's a movie in a series also known as the Garden of Sinners, based on a very popular set of light novels. Although this movie is number 5 in the series of 7, you don't need any of the information from previous movies to watch it.
Basically, the story is about a girl named Ryougi Shiki who has awesome fighting skills living in a world where supernatural forces are causing mysterious murder cases to occur. She has amnesia, and can't remember anything from her past. She also has a special ocular power that allows her to see the imperfections in objects and their breaking points.
The only warnings I have for you are that it might include some graphic violence, if you're not into that, and be a bit confusing at points because of the chronology of events is out of order.
I'll let you read the reviews for more about the plot. But I wanted to recommend this to you since the genres you listed included supernatural, psychological and mystery, which are all covered by this choice. This movie in particular unravels as you watch so you're trying to piece together the story throughout the viewing and even afterward. I certainly hope it gives you plenty to ponder about and perhaps interest you in the other movies!
I personally love this movie and the rest of the series because of the intricate plot line. The characters are well developed and have plenty of depth; their backgrounds are a mystery on their own, revealed only through glimpses in each movie. Another great point is the amazing animation and graphic quality of each movie. I also like how each can stand alone, or together as a whole when considering the overall plot.
I also wanted to recommend Mnemosyne, but it was already on your plan-to-watch list.
Now I have to go back and write college essays...hehe.
Happy Holidays!

AnimeAttack

Dear AnimeAttack,

A psychological comedy is really hard to find.

Noein has a really nice sci-fi, mysterious storyline that deals with a lot of thinking. I don't want to spoil too much.

Ergo Proxy is another mystery sci-fi. It's one of the only anime that I didn't understand, but many other people love it and you might.

Ghost in The Shell is about a certain police division that are mostly cybernetically enhanced in a time when much of the world are connected to the world with cyberbrains.
This anime involves a new idea of what the future could be like and has a lot ( one in particualar ) of mysterious cases to solve.

There's not much comedy at all in these anime though; maybe a joke here or there. Merry Christmas! ^^

cenatu

ive picked Queen's Blade: Rurou no Senshi because it fits Cenatu's ideal anime expectations.

CSpaz

genre: Comedy/mecha/action/adventure

1. Bakuretsu Tenshi - Action/Mechas Badass babes with a mech named Django and a pair of Desert Eagles
2. Full Metal : The Second Raid : You've already seen the others, this last one is more serious.
3. Sword of a Stranger - Action/Adventure/Samurai This one truly rocks. A masterpiece of action, swordplay with background music that fits the film.
4. Black Lagoon - This shouldn't be missed if you're into action. Watch both seasons and consider them as one. It is fairly violent but the humour is there and so is the drama. Some people may look at this and dismiss it as a primarily an over the top action series but the inner workings of underground organizations and the power struggle to achieve top dog status in this violent world is handled deftly. The cast (Main and secondary) is quite impressive.
5. Galaxy Angel - Sit back and laugh with this goofy gang of loveable incompetents as they try to recover Lost Technology artifacts.
6. High School Girls - Want to know what some girls think? This series delve unashamedly on a group of high school girls and their take on everything - mostly on the naughty side.
7. Voices of a Distant Star - This has mecha but the focus of the story is entirely different. It's 25 minutes long and worth it. Admittedly, a left-of-center rec but...it's one of the best - story-wise.

That's it. I hope you have a rocking great Holiday Season. Merry Christmas and a Happy NewYear.

Chacopal

Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun:Lots of fan service and of course comedy. Story is pretty average and they do try to focus on it at times.
Juuni Kokuki: Doesn't really fit into your requirements but I don't care. This anime is not popular which is a shame cause it is REALLY good.
sola: Romance. Still fairly new and a pretty unexpected twist towards the end. Not well known either despite its good ratings. I highly recommend this one.
Tonagura!: Still in watching for me but from what I've seen it's ecchi, harem, romcom, school AND drama =). Doesn't look awesome but doesn't look bad either.

Merry Christmas! Okay, it's in your On Hold list, but I'd really like to recommend continuing watching Clannad asap. My best friend (AkatsukigirlTy) said Toradora would be great for you. But my personal recommendations to you that aren't on your list would be Ah! My Goddess, for a more comedyish, romanticish side, and Shakugan no Shana for a more plottish, adventurish (these are totally words, by the way) series. This has been really hard for me, I go for the blood and gore, so I hope that's okay!
Hope you have a great Christmas, get lots of manga and otaku-related gifts, and enjoy whatever you choose to see!
Jyaane!

crochunterfan

First of all, I feel like apologizing beforehand for possible faults, I mean, I had no time for checking for sub/dub availability. I also have to mention that I didn't watch any of the recommended anime, so they might appear to be not that scary. Anyway, I tried and did my best. I picked a few, with short explanations.

I'll start with the most obvious, imo, recommendation: Jigoku Shoujo. Horror, supernatural, mystery, drama, a popular anime from DEEN (creators of Higurashi)2.

The one coming next is Ghost Hunt - same genre, pretty high-rated and popular. I'm not sure in it cause of the big-eyes reason. But Higurashi do also have unproportional eyes, imho, and it doesn't prevent it from being loved.

Another new and even more popular anime is Pandora Hearts, and it is recommended here in MAL within such anime like DtB, Higurashi, Kurishitsuji, Death Note, Blood+... a lot :)

Mouryou no Hako is not very popular, but it had such a scary description, plus produced by Madhouse, so I'd like to recommend it as well.

The last (and probably, the least obvious) - a personal recommendation from me - xxxHolic. Comparing to the others, it is more of a mystery and comedy.

I hope you will enjoy it, and Merry Christmas ^__^

DwChan

HTWA Secret Santa: To DwChan!
Hello! You have listed a good story as a must in any anime, so here are some of my top picks!:

List of "To-Watch!": (Listed genres in order of significance)
- Higashi no Eden (Mystery/Comedy/Romance)
One of the best mystery/thriller anime of 2009. Highly recommended.

- Seto no Hanayome (Comedy/Romance/Slice-of-life)
High-tempo comedy and romance throughout!

- Nodame Cantabile (Romance/Slice-of-life/Comedy)
It goes at its own pace, but is once again amongst the best romance anime in recent years.

- Shakugan no Shana (Romance/Magic/Comedy/Mystery)
Romance and Magic with drama in a mysterious setting. I see you have this in your list. It wouldn't hurt to move it up a few places on your list.

- Ai Yori Aoshi (Romance/Comedy/Slice-of-life)
An older,slower-paced anime, but with romance and comedy i'm sure you'd enjoy. Its slightly harder to find though.

I doubt u'd have time to watch all of em, so i placed them in tiers.
1. Higashi no Eden, Seto no Hanayome, Nodame Cantabile
2. Shakugan no Shana
3. Ai Yori Aoshi

Cheers and Merry Christmas!

ErickKing

i think this anime will be perfect for ErickKing. the anime is called Comic Party Revoution. The reason i choose this anime is because ErickKing wants an anime that has comedy, yuri, harem, or cute & CPR is a comedy anime. ^_^

GAY4ANIME

Recommendation for GAY4ANIME
Since you haven't seen much anime, it's best to start you off with some of the more great and popular anime that I believe you would like best. All of these have a nice English dub if you want to watch the dubs.

Cowboy Bebop
My personal favorite show, it has a great cast of characters, great sound for the background music and voice actors are phenominal, and amazing animation even though this series is a decade old. One of the classic anime you probably should at least take a look at.

Black Lagoon
Full of action and crazy characters, this one will probably give you the adrenaline rush if your looking for some action. Plenty of guns and bullets to go around, this anime couldn't be more insane than it already is. Also, a third season might be coming out so try to catch the prequels before it comes out.

Ghost in the Shell (series)
This one is for the sci-fi fix if you're craving any. Probably one of the best sci-fi themed anime, it has a great story, lots of action, and the sound is wonderful. With a couple of movies and full seasons, this one might last you a good while. Another must watch series.

GarLogan78

Secret Santa Present (Recommendation) for GarLogan78:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I brought you a the entire bag of presents!

The big ones front and center, underneath the tree

Ef - A Tale of Memories/Melodies: A great romance series, one of my favorites. Memories is Season 1 and Melodies is Season 2. This show has a viewing style similar to Baccano!, and you may not understand how everything is connected until the end of the 2nd season, that's part of the mystery! (12-12 ep)
Spice & Wolf: There are 2 seasons of this series. Horo is a Wolf Deity so there is a little similarity with Kannagi, by self though this series is one of those must see series for Romance Anime fans. (12-13 ep)

Your Stocking Stuffers

Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu: Romance anime filled with comedy, plot is driven by character who happens to be an otaku. In a setting where most aren't very accepting. The second season just finished airing last week. (12-12 ep)
Zero no Tsukaima: There are currently 3 seasons, this series has also been one of my Romance Anime favorites. This has a lot more fantasy in it has it takes place in a different world at a school that teaches magic. Female Lead Louise is voiced by Rie Kugimiya and has more in common with Taiga than that. (13-12-12 ep)

On the plate that use to carry cookies

Tayutama -Kiss on my Deity-: Not to say any of the others have bad animation. Since you hit my sweet spot for cookies, I'll hit yours for good animation. This series hits that and is very Kannagi-like. (12 ep)

Hidden in the back, far underneath the tree

Ga-Rei -Zero-: Great animation, Opening and Ending sequences very polished. This is a great mystery, although the 1st ep is the end and then it flashes back building up to that point and the ending shortly after that.

I hope that you enjoy these and get a few kicks, I had fun learning about you through your list and being your secret santa. I'm not done just yet though. Every year kids cry over the stuff that they don't get that wasn't on their list. Now you are into Romance, but next year you may like Sci-Fi, Action, or Mecha more. Since your list is not populated with very many of these, I've got three recommendations of series that have good animation.

Eureka Seven: Mecha, has romance elements. Got me into anime so is one of my favorites. (50 ep)
Gundam 00: My favorite Gundam series. Most recent and Gundam series have the very top-end animation and the character development of Celestial Being characters, is 2nd to none. 2 seasons. (25-25 ep)
Macross Frontier: My favorite series, is a mix of many genres. Has a love triangle and multiple layers of romance elements from main to supporting character cast. 3rd installment of Macross Franchise. (25 ep)

hinata_lover

Hi, since the genres you picked out were romance, comedy, shoujo, slice of life and drama i recommend you watch.

Kanon (2006) - I thought it was awesome just to put it simple. I loved how the story was told. A must watch, if i might say so.

5 Centimeters per Second - It's just the most beautiful anime i seen, like after you see this everything else will look bad. Its also romance genre.

Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu - its one of the funniest anime i've seen. plus there's a bit of romance there. If you like the characters then you could also go back and watch Full Metal Panic! and Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid. But be aware they have more mecha then Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu.

also Suzuka and Kimi ga Nozomu Eien are a good watch. but i think there a bit for a mature audience

Happy x-mas, and have fun watching!

HiNoNeko243

I´d reccomend the Dennou Coil. It has 26 episodes but once you start with it, you´ll gonna watch it in two days. The story is very unique and you´ll definitely cry while watching some episodes. It is really a beautifull anime with nice graphics and decent music.
Dennou Coil is a comedy, adventure & mystery.

Alternative anime:
Nyan Koi
Toradora!
Higashi no Eden

KokoroChan

Soul Eater, Tokimeki Memorial ~Only Love~

ikuto

Can we give 2 Recommendations? just in case he doesnt like it.

here are my 2

La Corda D'Oro ~primo passo~ 1st

Macross 2nd

ladycharlene_023

If you are into mafia animes i would really recommend "Katekyo Hitman Reborn" which is currently at 160+ episodes and many of my friends say its great. But if you are willing to watch something with about 26 episodes i would strongly recommend "Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom" because its new from this season and the picture looks amazing, it has a great opening and the suspense is great :] hope u like my picks

Little_Sparrow

Code Geass, Deathnote (Can't believe you haven't watched em)

LoveRose_x

Ai yori Aoshi
Ayashi no Ceres

Both of these are good plot driven romance animes, with a bit of comedy sprinkled in.

Even though it is on your Plan to Watch list, I still want to recomend that you watch Full Metal Panic!

It is mostly an action/comedy anime, with a bit of romance here and there. A very good watch if you are looking for something a bit different from the usual romantic animes.

MasterJfk

Okay my recommendation toMasterJfk is Kanokon, Mahoromatic or Golden Boy. Since I don't watch much ecchi animes it was little challenging to find one to recomend, but I hope your enjoy it! Well it looked like something you would like, I guess.. hehehe
Merry Christmas! :)

mikai47

Shugo Chara

mstrmnd48

My Recommendation:
Full Metal Panic

Why:
Mstrmnd48 specifically requested an anime that contains romance, mecha, school life and sci fi and I believe that Fullmetal Panic fits into the majority of those categories perfectly.
This anime contains hints of romance, school life and a whole load of mecha and action which I think would be perfect for Mstrmnd48.
It also fits into his episode requirement of 24 episodes which is another reason why I'm recommending it.
As far as I'm aware it contains no yaoi which is something Mstrmnd48 claims he'd rather avoid!

Other notes: I have not actually watched the anime myself but instead spent ages finding out about it so fingers crossed it meets Mstrmnd48's standards!

All set and ready to go! I hope I've done a good job! :' D
AkatsukigirlTy

mysticbento

Dear mysticbento, ^^

Recommendation: Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu
Based on the genre's you gave me I thought this anime would fulfil, romance, comedy, ecchi. It also isnt on your list so XD. It is more funny if you watched quite a bit of anime and you have so have fun watching, the second season isnt as good imo but yeah you can try that out too ^^

Have a very Merry Christmas~~ GBY ^^

From Ikuto~~ XD

NanoZero

Hey NanoZero! I, GarLogan78, am your secret Santa. After reading your request, I think you would really enjoy Dennou Coil. It is definitely worth watching. There are some great characters, and the mystery is very interesting. I liked it enough to put it on my favorites list, so I hope you can enjoy it as well.

Dennou Coil
Episodes: 26
Genre: Adventure, Comedy, Mystery, Drama, Sci-Fi

Here are other anime I thought you might like based on your request :)

Another one you might enjoy is Ichigo Mashimaro. It is a slice-of-life, and I thought it was hilarious. The characters make this show, so if you like their quirks or personalities you should enjoy it. However, there isn't much of a plot, just the daily antics of the characters. It is kind of like Lucky Star in that way, but you seem to enjoy that show, so this show could be right up your alley.

Ichigo Mashimaro
Episodes: 12
Genre: Comedy, Slice of Life

You might also like Kurenai. It is a slice-of-life, very cute, and there are some mysterious aspects in it as well. It is a short anime, so I feel it is worth a look-see.

Kurenai
Episodes: 12
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Seinen

The final anime I am going to recommend to you is Toradora! It is another slice-of-life, and the characters are amazing. As the series progresses, they all are shown to have several sides to their personalities, and there is a lot of character development. It is a romance, and the couples work really well. Also, the main character, Taiga, has the same seiyuu as Shana!

Toradora:
Episodes: 25
Genre: Comedy, Romance, School, Slice of Life

I hope you like at least one of the anime I recommended to you, and have a Merry Christmas!

Gar :D

nekonekogirl

I chose Cyberteam in Akihabara. i chose that because it meets ahh of her standards and doesn't have anything she doesn't like.

Nerva

Recommendation is School Rumble because it is about a love triangle of a girl, a school boy who is all work no play and a tough guy who wants the girl. It's very random and really funny and has some random spoofs from some random shows and things

NuttyNinja

Bokura ga Ita, Ef ~A tale of memories~, Ef ~A tale of melodies~, Shuffle!

Redhydoken7

I was assigned Redhydoken7, here is my reply:

"Inititally after looking at your application and having a quick flick through your anime list, both full metal panic! and the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya came to mind, after seeing you had already watched the latter, the choice was obvious. Then I discovered your currently watching list, and much to my dismay you are currently watching FMP!.

So my recommendations are as follows, I recommended 2 anime(s) because I could'nt decide between them but also because you requested 30 episodes and both are just shy of it, take your pic, or even watch both :)

Genshiken - 12 episodes (then theres an OVA and a 2nd season xD )

Welcome to the NHK! - 24 episodes

Both anime are "otaku themes" and remind me of the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya in some regards but are both less random (especially if you watched TMOHS in the origional aired order).

I hope you enjoy, and have a great xmas xD"

Rejuvination

To make a recommendation for you was hard because I don't really like these kind of anime but somehow I managed to decide and I hope you will like at least one of them. I have to say that I haven't seen any of them so if you will be disappointed I'm really sorry.
So first would be Prism Ark sorry it's not ecchi or harem but you might like it. It's magic, fantasy and comedy and I heard from my friend that it's quite good. The story sounds not to bad too.
Kimi ga Aruji de Shitsuji ga Ore de is second. Magic is not a gender of this anime but i think it can be funny and you may like it. Sorry I can't tell you anything more about it but i read in one forum good words about it.
The last would be Kure-nai it's nothing what you wanted but I saw it and it's a happy, warm anime that makes you feel fuzzy after watching it.

So I hope you'll find something you will like and merry Christmas

RinTestarossa

Here are my recommendations for RinTestarossa

Slice-of-life:
-Azumanga Daioh
If you liked Lucky star then you will also like Azumanga Daioh. They both revolve around the life of a group of high school friends, with a lot of comedy thrown in. Azumanga Daioh features a cast of really lovable characters, and the humor is also very unique, I can pretty much guarantee you'll be laughing throughout the entire show.

-Hyakko
This is also another slice of life comedy that revolves around the life of high school friends. Humor is pretty similar to lucky star, and also like in lucky star, Aya Hirano voices one the main characters.

-K-ON!
Similar humor and character design to that of Lucky star. Like Lucky Star and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, K-ON! also puts a lot of emphasis on the concept of moe.

Action:

-Code Geass
Just like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Code Geass is a mecha anime with a really good plot line. Both animes are action packed, but at the same time they are both really deep and meaningful.

sabrina19

My recommendations:
- Kurozuka: I think this may be exactly what you want ^^ This is a short story (12 episodes) about a man that falls in love with a vampire (though he does not know thatimportanta fact xD). This "woman" feeds him with her blood and dissapears, leaving him by his own with a soul that can live for a thousand years. When he awakes, can't remember much about his life, so he begins a journey through an post-apocalyptic Japan, seeking for the woman he loves.

- Vampire Princess Miyu: (26 episodes, just two more ^^U) This is like a mix of TRC and xXxHOLiC with vampires and another mythical creatures. It has action and invloves a journey as in TRC, and it leads you to reflex about the human race as in xXxHOLiC (since the protagonist is destinated between two world: the human world and the shinma world).

- Blood+: You have already met Saya from the movie ("The Last Vampire"), but this series has almost nothing to do with that movie. There are monsters (known as Chiropterans, instead of Teropterids) who can change their appearances into that of human beings and fed on their blood; our heroine, being one original vampire, is the only one that can beat those monsters. Lots of action, some mystery, differents kinds of love (but that's not essential part of the plot). It has 50 episodes =S but I thought you may like it, so I'm recommending it anyway.

If you like manga you could read "Millennium Snow" (from the author of Ouran Host Club), a shoujo pretty much like that book "Twilight" (a vampire, human, werewolf love-triangule), or "Vampire Kisses", another short story about a couple (a goth girl and a vampire) that have to deal with the trouble-maker cousin of the vampire. Both are adorable and interesting shoujo.

I really hope you like it ^^
Happy holidays!!

Saiz

My recommendations for Saiz are:

1. Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight!
Why: It is slice of life, slightly futuristic, very cute, has only minor fanservice, hence, why I chose this first!

2. Scrapped Princess
Why: Heck! I don't even have this show on my personal list yet. Anyway, nothing to worry about! I am certain it will be far more enjoyable than shows like 11eyes or ChäoS;HEAd that's why.

3. Mermaid Forest
Why: This is well, a creepy story. It is similar to Inuyasha (Mermaid Forest manga is older than Inuyasha and was made by the same person, btw) and is generally horror and dark like Monster, so I wanted to pick this one also.

I guess that's all, then! =D

samuraibunny

Recommendations for: samuraibunny

K-ON
I chose this because it's a very short anime and fits two genres the requester asked for: slice of life and comedy. The artwork is pretty nice to look at too and also it's finished airing :D

Clannad
Again, this one fits a lot of the requesters genres: comedy, drama, slice of life and romance and has also finished airing. If it leaves you wanting more, there is a sequel TV series, a movie and OVAs. There's no ecchi in this but just a warning, there's one perverted character :P

Seiba

Seiba Requirements:

username: Seiba

Eyeman reccomendation:

Sharkall

Hi NorthPole!
I've finally made up my mind about the recommendations.
Here they are:
*Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru
*Koi Kaze
*Shingetsutan Tsukihime
*Aria
*Canvas 2
*ChäoS;HEAd

Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru, Koi Kaze and Shingetsutan Tsukihime seem pretty good if you like Drama and Romance, though I haven't watched any of them yet, the reviews I've read are pretty positive.

ChäoS;HEAd is an anime that's more psychological and mysterious, it's really well-drawn and the plot is nice too.

As for Aria and Canvas 2, they lean more to the side of slice of life. Canvas2 also supports Drama, Romance and Comedy. Aria gives a romantic view of the world and is really relaxing to watch.
But note that Aria has several seasons and specials, be sure to watch it from the beginning >.< It's nicer that way... in my opinion at least.

That was about it, I think =D

shoxk

I'm going to recommend the original Macross series for shoxk. My reasoning behind this is the fact that he's seen two series already, yet still hasn't managed to watch the original Macross. Due to his ratings on the two series of it he has watched, this further makes my recommendation seem adequate.

sintra

My Recommendations for Sintra are:
Pandora Hearts

To begin with, Pandora Hearts is the darker version of Alice In Wonderland. It contains about existence of parallel worlds. From the moment you start watching it, you’ll get addicted to it. Each episode really gets you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next episode. There are multiple twists, which very well fit in the plot. The character design and music score is amazing as well. STRONGLY Recommend this anime.

Higashi No Eden

This anime tries to relate whats happening in the real world. The story is creative. The level of mystery and suspense will leave the viewer wanting more every episode. Definitely one of the most refreshing one. It has a reference to terrorism which will add to the psychological element as well.

DN Angel

This is one of the best anime with innocence and purity of a relatively original story. In short : its about an angel stealing artwork in hopes of preventing the world from destruction. It suits the genres of action, romance and supernatural. The unique twists prevent any dull moment. I can’t think of any other anime with this kind of idea.

Shakugan no Shana

This anime has a solid, meaningful story, animation and leaves you with a beautiful feel. It revolves around the theme –“Its not important whether you existed or not, but whether you are remembered or not.” The excellent switching between action, romance and comedy made me feel interested in the story. Hope you’ll feel the same way!

All these animes do everything it can to draw viewers in with its first episode and get them to want to keep watching and I hope you will. They have outstanding background art, appealing character designs, highly likeable lead characters.

Jigoku Shoujo
Why?: Seems to have an interest in horror anime.
2. Ghost Hunt
Why?: Another horror plus it seems good (plan to watch myself.)
3. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha
Why?: Likes magical girls too.
4. Blood+
Why?: One of the best.

suicideducky

For SuicideDucky I have selected the following:

As a slice of life, Lucky Star (which has many Haruhi references) and K-ON! are musts.
As for the THEME of Haruhi, try out Kannagi and Chaos;Head.

Teddy

Here's my recommendation for Teddy:

Recommendation(s): Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni (and 2nd season, Kai)

Why?: I saw Teddy's anime list and saw that a good majority of her list was filled with shows that are lighthearted/kid friendly. Higurashi was the first show to come to mind because it is far from being lighthearted, fulfills Teddy's preferences, and it is one of my favorite shows,

Other additional information: I recommended the second season, Kai, as well because where Ni leaves you with questions, Kai comes in to solve those questions. So basically Ni is called the question arc and Kai is called the answer arc. Each season complements the other and you can't watch one and completely understand what's going on without the other. You will need both seasons. Hope you will enjoy my recommendation and when (or if) you finish both seasons, feel free to chat me up about what you liked (or didn't like) about the series. Happy Holidays!!!

the_orange

It's a bit of a challenge to reccomend something I'm sure you'll like, as the details were not very specific, and in addition we only have 20 or so shared anime's. However, after some thinking I came up with a few ideas. Meeting all those genres is rather impossible, so I'll list them somehow grouped by categories.

First of all, Psychological. Here I finished quicly, because I could think of only one show. ONE OUTS is the one, and although it may seem a normal sports anime on the outside, it's all about mind games and strategy. Never boring, and the main character is Death-note-badass-type. Saw that you gave a 10 to that one, so definitely have to try this one. Pretty few episodes, also.

Next. The Action / Supernatural ones.
- MNEMOSYNE. Another short show, only 6 OVAs. A bit of ecchi, ( hope not to much to your taste ), a bit of horror. Rather original, and has an approach that somehow revolves around a central idea, bringing the episodes tight around the plot. There are some time-skips between the episodes, but presented in a way that only makes it feel cohesive.
-BASILISK. 24 eps, and Samurai-flavoured. Has Romance , and Drama, too. No ecchiness here, but it's rated R+ ( Mild nudity ) Nothing too violent, though, and certainly _less_ than elfen lied, which I saw with an 8 sticking around. It's one of those shows about forbidden love, and all the characters pretty much die along it. Exciting, and comes with a good end. Very good art.
-and the last, ANGEL SANCTUARY. Thats 3 OVAs only, and more Romance-Drama oriented. Fine art here also. It feels kind of short, as you dont get all the information that could be, and you end up wanting more of it. The story is very good, I wont give spoilers, but is mature enough, with a dark mood to it. Reccomended to read the manga after :P

And finally, the main dish. Comedy / Slice of life / ... .
- My pers fav in this category, HONEY & CLOVER. A good mix of comedy / romance / drama, the type that can make you laugh or cry minutes apart. The central topic, as you can guess, is love. It deals with it in every aspect, from confused, unshared, obsessive to just simple love. All kind of struggles, the type we all go through, helps you feel close to the characters. 2 series ( 24 + 12 ). Have to see this.
- Another good comedy is LOVELY COMPLEX. The story builds itself slowly, with each episode, and it's pretty well organised. Not the usual romance, pretty original, and the plot is not so linear, having enough twists.
- Then, CLANNAD. Supernatural, too, the downside is that it comes in two series. 23 + 24. 2 side stories episodes, too, but you can skip them. I was going to rec this earlier, if not for these facts. The characters are very well developed, and the slice-of-life part well described, as their personalities and emotions are beautifully portrayed. The story is organized in arcs about the heroines, may seem boring in the beginning, but it's all about how love bring people together , despite school problems, family problems, death and all that. The main storyline is also kind of mysterious, and the show is definitely much more than the ordinary slice of life comedy.
- Lastly, GOLDEN BOY. An action / comedy, a bit of ecchi, but only a bit, it's a classic. Only 6 episodes, but an anime that everyone has to see. Extremely funny, and I mean _extremely_, and you cand even watch the English dubbed one if you find it, it's very good. One of the best comedy out there.

That were all my ideas, as you have a lot of interesting stuff in your plan-to-watch list, that I could not rec. ( Baccano, Bakemonogatari, Beck, Detroit Metal City, Nana, Nodame Cantabile, Planetes, Serial experiments lain, Shigurui may be too bloody, Toradora ...) Hope you'll like most of them, and you'll receive many (more) useful presents from Santa ^_^

Merry Xmas from here, and have fun watching anime's during the holiday,
Sharkall ( actually Marius )

TsukikageRan

Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen(2hour OVA series) (kinda hard lol)

Tyranid5

First of all Merry Christmas Tyranid5.

Next I would like to say that i was very pleased after reading through your Anime list as I had crossed several Animes that i highly approve of (clannad, toradora, spice and wolf)
Next i would like to comment on your anime list. There are a couple of problems i had when looking through your list. You had some animes marked as plan to watch (Zoku natsume Yuujinchoo) that had already been started so i wasn't sure what to make of that. So i decided to make all my recomindations things that you haven't marked on your list.

Now for the recomindations =P
1. Honey and clover (art soceity, spice of life, romance)
2. 5 Centimeters per Second (romance, spice of life, movie)
3.The Place Promised in Our Early Days (romance, adventure, movie)
4. Ristorante Paradiso (pure spice of life but a little bit of a reverse harem) (*note* this is a reach for your discription but i have a feeling you would like this)
5. Welcome to the NHK! (otaku lifestyle, comedy, romance)
6. Kyou no Go no Ni TV (pure spice of life, childhood setting)
7. Genshiken (otaku lifestyle, spice of life, romance)

p.s. choose one of them to watch. I ordered them in the order that i think you would like but i could be wrong. so choose one to watch so that you can message me back to tell me what you thought of it ^_^.

Now the following list contains animes that you have on your list. These animes aren't my christmas recomindation but i highly recomend them. They aren't in any particular order but they are all good in my opinion.

1.Furi Kuri (comedy, spice of life, supernatural)
2.Hatsukoi Limited (romance, spice of life)
3.Love Hina (comedy, harem, romance)
4. Lucky ☆ Star (best spice of life anime but no romance)
5. Natsume Yuujinchou (simalar to spice and wolf minus the romance and the furries =P)
6. Nodame Cantabile (musical, romance, slight comedy)
7. Fullmetal alchemist (doesn't fit what you were asking for but its a masterpiece in my opinion)

Once again, Merry christmas and a happy new year.

ucandoit

Recommendation: Ga Rei Zero

It's a story about friendship, through demon fighting. It IS a prequel to the manga, Ga Rei, but that shouldn't stop you from watching this. Anyways, I watched it before reading the manga and it compelled me to go and read the manga.

You seem to like action anime, so this would be a great one to watch.

I don't know if there is a dubbed version of this out there, but don't let that stop you, it's a great anime. :)

PresSiT(unregistered)

1.Gasaraki
2.Amatsuki
3.Chrno Crusade

Vivene

Recommendation for Vivene:

Kuroshitsuji. It is a rather dark anime, though with quite some funny moments. Not really a vampire story, but it does have a bit of the vibe. At least demons are present! Action, darkness and some mystery, so I'm sure you'll like it.

I also think you might like Dennou Coil. It's not a very fast action anime, though I think it's quite exciting. The first half reminds a bit of a slice of life comedy, it gets darker and more psychological towards the end.

Wolveus

Hii Hii ^^
I'm coming back with a recommendation for Wolveus ^^

I recommend the following anime ;p

- Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Since he liked Elfen Lied & Paranoia Agent (based on animelist giving a rate of 10) , he maybe would like this one ^^
It's something like horror, psychological and so...

I think that would be all..?
Hope he likes this one ^^ Friends told me it's a good anime, I watched the first episode..

~ DwChan

XxxGoth-FreakxxX

My recommendation for my Secret Santa( XxxGoth-FreakxxX) is K-ON!
Link
Merry Christmas!

YamiValentine

For YamiValentine, I recommend "Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne".

Under her requests, I found that KKJ has only 44 episodes, it has the genres comedy, romance, adventure, and mystery that she asked for. And it's posted on YouTube, so it can be easily found on any streaming site.

I really loved this series and I actually feel like re-watching it again. It had a nice feeling to it and it was enjoyable.

recommendations:
this was tough because a lot of great anime are rated R but I'll try :)
1. Code Geass - Hangyaku no Lelouch; this is a great anime for it's storyline/plot & it's very enjoyable. I don't know if you're too into mecha anime though.

2. K-ON; this anime is sooo cute. It's a music anime that involves girls who make a band. the downside is that it's similar (but a loooot better if you ask me) to Lucky Star because it's lack of a storyline.

3. Toradora!; I looove this anime. It's a romantic/comedy and the characters are so lovable. it CAN be a tad ecchi at times, but it doesn't take your mind away from the storyline.

I hope that helped :) Happy Holidays:)

I remember finding it pretty well-done when i last watched it.While it doesn't compare to the 'great' 12ep series eg.Higashi no Eden, the general storyline and portrayal were decent if not good. =P

I completed all 13 episodes of Gantz last night; I believe I gave it 7/10

Despite the excessive nakedness of Kei Kishimoto I found it to be really enjoyable. I thought that the show’s portrayal of Death and the idea that there’s a perverse part inside of everyone that wishes Death upon another person just to see what it’s like was really clever. Overall, I found that the characters were likable and easy to form attachments to. I found that I was able to become attached to even the most generic of characters to the point where I’d feel great disappointment and frustration if they were to lose the game. The only character I found hard to like is Kuruno Kei. Kuruno is quite possibly the most perverted male anime character I’ve ever had the displeasure of coming across, as a girl I was deeply disgusted by his constantly sex-driven mind, but at least he’s a fairly accurate portrayal of a teenage boy, I’ll give him that much! The story itself was fast-paced and easy to follow, which is ideal for a 13 episode anime! I also really enjoyed the opening theme as its fast paced beat reflected the equally fast pace of the anime!

Thanks for the recommendation!

I just completed all Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and gave it a 9/10.

It was very enjoyable show that managed to mix comedy, action, and drama just right. I went into the show expecting excessive fan service, but didn't find it except for a single episode early in the series.

Overall, I loved the recommendation.
