| I don't think video games are an inherently bad way to spend time free time. Obviously there are things that you could be doing that are more enlightening or of value to society but who cares. I'd rather level up my little anime girl or burly yakuza man more than i want to volunteer at a food bank. Monetisation tactics in free to play games ranges from meh to pretty scummy. I personally don't mind Genshin Impact's, it's a single player game and a pure free to play users still complete all of the content pretty easily. Obviously they use all the tricks in the book to get you to spend, there's a reason these games look and sound like casinos. Less keen on monetisation in multiplayer games where you can get an advantage over other players. That being said if the free to play game game with shitty monetisation is good I'll still play it. I just won't spend money on it - like Lost Ark. |

Yeah, it's absolutely subjective. Don't quite understand the question. What is good for me? If you're asking what a game would have to do for me to consider it good/enjoyable then I guess the simplest answer to that would be for it to evoke emotions. Obviously not just any emotions but the right ones for whatever sort of game it is. |

| Sure, mostly arousal. I like games where you wander around and explore pretty landscapes whilst collecting things and doing puzzles. Curiosity, awe and occasionally perplexed would be emotions there. Whilst they're not spectacular I'm content with the combat and storyline. The lore of the game world is surprisingly interesting too. Typical hyperborean asian game stuff. Don't take that as a recommendation though, I haven't had real world positive emotions to compare it to in about 2 decades. |

| Haven't played loads of BOTW because the Switch framerate was killing me and I've been too lazy to set up an emulator. My Switch is pretty much just my pokemon machine these days. MMOs are always better in theory than reality. One day I'll give ESO and FF14 a real go though. |
