I’m not referring to ‘bunny girl’, but buta yaro.

I’m not crazy thinking this does not actually translate to ‘rascal’ right? Buta yaro sounds A WHOLE LOT more offensive to me than rascal. When someone calls someone a rascal, it’s used in usually a playful manner. But to me, buta yaro sounds like ‘this fucking pig’

I think they've just diled it down a bit to make it less offensive and more enjoyable for viewers. Cos idk about you but I much prefer him being called a 'rascal' Every episode the being called a 'horny pig'.

Most titles dont have perfect translation japanese is very diverse and also kanji have different context soo

I think they just wanted to make it less offensive lmao. Japanese writers don’t hold back in their titles. Weather it be length or offensive…ness

The official translation for the kanji is « pig bastard », (which is more offensive then rascal), although another word could be pervert which is by the definition someone regarded as a person whose sexual behavior is regarded as abnormal and unacceptable. While, rascal means a mischievous or cheeky person, especially a child or man (typically used in an affectionate way). I think there’s nothing weird between Mai and Sakuta so I think rascal fits better

Common light and simple translation: « Rascal does not dream of a bunny girl senior »

Official translation would look like: « Youth pig bastard does not have a dream of a bunny girl senior »

Could look like: « Young pervert does not dream of a bunny girl senior »

All in all rascal is used to make it easier and more appropriate

Just because it uses the same words as a more offensive insult when directly translated doesn’t mean that the phrase in Japanese has the same connotation as it does in English

Buta yaro means "horny pig" . Seishun means "teenager". So I think you can piece together what the title sounds like

I don't actually understand japanese,
But They don't always translate the same title.
Just like "tenki no ko" movie,
It's translation is "A weather child"
But in English they've kept the title as "Weathering with you"
