I mean the characters cry over little stuff, like in season 2 Hachiman gets in between and proposes that girl (I forgor her name), and even though they knew what was going on, everyone decides to get over-emotional. I just want clarification whether it's just me who thinks this way or did they actually overdo the emotions and crying. |

I think it's probably because they're experiencing stuff that are much more personal and their boundaries between themselves thin down and they are much more than friends. Plus also, both the girls have suffered emotionally in the past. And as far I feel, i think the "genuine" thing is something even they care and long for, even if it means it's a tough path to travel. |

CreepHazard said: Some people get attached really easily, even in real life, so it’s still pretty understandable. As for Yui, she does cry a lot, but there are girls at my high school that cry over being told no. I don’t understand them, but I know that people can be like that. That’s why it didn’t stand out to me very much.DRACO238 said: I mean they haven't even known each other for over one year, if it were like they were friends since they were four and their relationship was crumbling it would've been more understandable. CreepHazard said: 8man always made himself look an asshole so that he can solve other's problems. Yui and yukino are hurt seeing him self sacrifice himself. Sitting in the club room for namesake but when their relationships are crippling away, it was hurting all three of them since what they're having is just an obligatory relationship when they wanted something more. After sensei knocked done sense into 8man, he realised how much he craved for companionship under the mask of the guy who doesn't care even if he has no one to support him. This is the first time 8man and yukino experienced what camaraderie feels like, they were trying desperately to stop it from breaking. And this is the only thing Yui wants and has for a long time now. And when you see the only thing that's supporting you on life crippling away, you usually tend to feel depressed. Moreover, for an ordinary person, this might look like over reacting to small stuff but trust me my friend, what seems small and dumb to you might be something too serious to some people. People with overthinking, anxiety, depression, or any similar mental health issues always get too emotional over things that normal people might call ridiculous. But that doesn't mean it should naturally be less painful to everyone. And when the issue they're trying to face is solved, they usually look back and cringe at themselves for being such a wimp. Even 8man did that. "why did I say something that cheesy?_", is what hachiman thought. It's just that people have varying levels of emotional indices.I mean the characters cry over little stuff, like in season 2 Hachiman gets in between and proposes that girl (I forgor her name), and even though they knew what was going on, everyone decides to get over-emotional. I just want clarification whether it's just me who thinks this way or did they actually overdo the emotions and crying. About the proposal, you're wrong. The only people who completely knew what was going on were hachiman, hayama and the girl. Yui and yukino themselves weren't aware of what's happening untill hachiman made his move. And even after that, the other boys had completely wrong idea. They don't know what actually happened there. Lemme break it down. The girl didn't want any relationship but she was aware of the guy trying to propose. Hayama and the girl didn't want to make it awkward between their group since after rejection that's what usually happens. It'll most likely break the group. So hayama approached hachiman to stop that from happening. Now, the other guys think the gurl has no idea about the guy trying to propose. So when hachiman proposed in advance as got the answer"I don't want any relationship right now", they thought like "thank god, if we were rejected it'd have been an awkward situation, thank god she didn't knew we were trying to". So naturally, things go smoothly from their side without it being awkward. And they'd assume that since the girl doesn't know about them trying to propose, it won't be awkward from her side either. Now the girl knows they think like that and thinks that's for the better since it'll no longer complicate things as long as there is something that'll restrain them. Now, behind all this were hayama, hachiman and the girl. Three people with complete grasp on what's happening. The girl played the master game alongside hachiman through hayama. Now the main point to why they reacted that way is, the fact that hachiman, despite helping people or should I say being used, is taking the insulting position always. Back at the school fest, he made hayama hero by making himself look like an asshole so that it'll help the then girl, hayama and school. And now he looked like a stupid mf who doesn't even know that girl but straight up proposed and got rejected. He would've been looked at Like he was in middle school. And the fact that the whole class hates hachiman already doesn't help it. And this is something that is genuinely hurting Yui and yukino since hachiman even though willingly, is being used and then insulted. Adding to that, hachiman even proposed the idea of becoming the guy who'll participate in school prez elections and take the humiliation of not getting votes at all just to make Iroha the president. That's why Yui and Yukino were genuinely concerned and got hurt by hachimans actions. Ever since that incident, their conversations Haven't been going normally. They were being complete strangers in the same room. Yui was desperately trying to take the things back to the normal. But it's not working. All that remained were three people, crippling relationships. And after sensei showed him what he should do after the ride, hachiman started realising what kind of thing he want. Not the three strangers in one room. But something genuine. A genuine relationship with Yui and Yukino. This was the first time Hachiman felt what it's like to stay in a true friendship. Neither him nor the girls couldn't stand that relationship breaking away. That's why there was so much emotional drama. And Idk if you know this, that part is arguably the best arc in entire series. I think anyone would tell you that. |

TanakaTarou24 said: the crying still feels like too much tho. If they wanted it to atleast make sense they should've given more depth to their relationship but sadly there wasn't any such thing. And the entire thing just looks like Hachiman just tried to commit suicide, then the crying would make sense. The dialogues and the facial expressions during these moments feels cheesy and overdone too. I .ean of they just walked off without saying anything it would have been insanely betterCreepHazard said: 8man always made himself look an asshole so that he can solve other's problems. Well except that what you said makes sense I guess. But it still feels kinda unnecessary |

I'm just as confused as you are. Nothing about the way characters in this series react to things makes any sense. Fans say it's realistic but I don't see it, this is the way I expect people to react to things in cheesy coming-of-age movies, not in real life. |

ik this is kinda aside the point of this post but am i the only one who didn’t think the show was all that good. Out of the massive amount of romance/slice of life anime i’ve watched it ranks amongst the bottom. I don’t remember what i rated it but now i’ve realised it’s just alright and i cba changing it now. I could list of 15 romance anime that smash SNAFU. |
