| By now you all know that I'm a Zenitsu hater but this thing made me dislike Zenitsu even more, the way Zenitsu got his powerup was pretty lame and lazy, he got hit by lightning and suddenly he has yellow hair and lightning abilities? meh, I would prefer if his training consisted in absorbing a lightning strike on a rainy day or something with some breathing move to get that ability and yellow hair but the way it got presented in the anime/manga was extremely lazy and uninteresting. Sure, maybe his lightning ability is not an ability at all, that's just Ufotable flexing their muscles to make his breathing style flashy but it doesn't change the fact that it was lame, lazy, and uninteresting the way he suddenly got yellow hair just for getting struck by lightning, this would get a pass from me if getting yellow hair was part of his training when getting struck with a lightning bolt, like, he could absorb some lightning properties with his breathing style which allows him to change his DNA somehow and hence, his hair color change or something, this could have been presented in a much better way. Also, why is Zenitsu able to fight with his eyes closed? why the sudden change of personality when he closes his eyes? again, in my opinion this is lazy writing, and sure, you may disagree with it but it's an opinion nonetheless. |

Anyway, I agree that Zenitsu is still powerful when he's awake but why does Zenitsu have a double personality when he's asleep? why on earth does it happen without any backstory explaining it? that's just lazy writing to me. |

| If you are watching this show for a amazing writing or a solid plot, drop it. It ain't a seinen which will focus on each character and backstory. The sole purpose of the show is fun, thrill and amazement. It doesn't matter if the last ranking protagonist defeats a top ranking opponent, it is really normal for a shonen. Unexplained development is really fine if you don't expect an explanation xD. There is no need for the writer to go deep if shallow is what the reader/viewer enjoy. Call it lazy writing but that's what helped the show reach great heights. |

| I don't think it's lazy writing, (this is just an assumption of mine) the author tried to show that Zenitsu has the ability to be great and his only hindrance is his own confidence in himself which is realistic and does happen in real life to pessimistic people. With Zenitsu, the author tries to send a message to the audience to believe and have confident in themself. This is a Shōnen, so the message is very much inline. The thunder just makes his hair blonde. 雷の呼吸(Kaminari no Kokyū) or Thunder Breathing is one of the breathing styles in KnY, it's real and not something that Zenitsu made up. |

| This isn't lazy writing, but this isn't super sophisticated either. This show isn't meant for a specific type of audience, and unfortunately, you seem to be the apex specimen of said audience. I fancy myself a well written, subtle and deep/mature show just as much as the next guy, but I don't get how you can go Nazi mode over something that isn't even aiming to be any of the aforementioned things. |

I agree, it was lazy writing. The whole show has lazy writing tbh, if the animation was like "normal quality" then i can bet it wouldn't have been 50% this popular, nobody would have cared to watch such a generic show. Only thing going for it is the animation and soundtracks |

It's like having Tanjiro getting hit by a waterfall and suddenly his fingernails grow larger, like, sure... why on earth did that happen? I know a shounen story doesn't need to be complex but I will need an explanation on why Tanjiro's nail grows larger with the waterfall, it just doesn't make sense, sure it's a dumb example but it's the same crap that happened with Zenitsu, his hair suddenly turning super-saiyan didn't make sense either. I guess I'm just nitpicking on Zenitsu here but if something like that happened to Tanjiro (which is a character that I don't hate) then I would create the same thread too as I did here. I mean, I would understand if Tanjiro's nail grows larger once he became a demon but if he's a normal human and his nails grow larger because he got hit by a waterfall then I will need an explanation for it. |

I also don’t see how it’s lazy. Lazy would be not including an explanation for his hair color at all (not that it needed one), or saying that he bleaches it every 6 months. This is actually something extra that was thought of that added something unique to his character. I think that’s the opposite of lazy.certifiedbinger said: I fancy myself a well written, subtle and deep/mature show just as much as the next guy, but I don't get how you can go Nazi mode over something that isn't even aiming to be any of the aforementioned things. Did you even understand what that scene was about? Because it really had nothing to do with explaining Zenitsu's hair color, which like I said, didn't require an explanation in the first place. You are literally creating an issue with the "writing" where one simply doesn't exist. And I notice how it's always the people who don't understand the writing, even aspects of it that are clearly explained or just common sense, that have a problem with it, lol. Your reply didn't address anything, here, I will make it easier: Tanjiro gets hit by a waterfall and suddenly his hair turns blue. Now, what's your argument about it? |

Are you going to now tell me that this thread isn't about Zenitsu's hair color changing after being struck by lightning? If it is, then I already addressed your argument. In fact, I even addressed your analogy: "Obviously I'm going to ignore the Tanjiro analogy when it's based on an argument equally as useless." But if you want an actual answer: no argument needs to be made about it. You seem to dislike the fact that supernatural things happen in supernatural worlds. The laws and rules of our world and our reality don't apply in a fantasy world. Maybe find a different genre? If you're going to continue to ignore everything I say because it invalidates your argument, then I'll ignore any answer that doesn't respond to this question. |

The laws and rules of our world and our reality don't apply in a fantasy world. Maybe find a different genre? Yeah it's indeed a supernatural world but I won't roll with the silly things that happens in it just because it's "supernatural", Zenitsu's hair turning yellow is equally as silly as the boar guy getting hit by a rock and suddenly getting pink hair out of it but hey, apparently you won't have any issues with it, good for you I guess. Doesn't matter and frankly, I really don't care about that argument, answering that argument won't change the fact that what happened with the hair color change was silly so meh. Anyway, thanks for taking your time to respond, at least you tried and I respect that. |

I questioned it more how did he survive the lightning strike. No explanation LMAO and please dont give me with "its shounen he has plot armor" BS also i wont be surprise if theres a tiktok challenge where mfs will let themselves get hit by lightning to become like zenitsu because yknow? its TIKTOK and yes it is a lazy writing but at this point people will defend THE lazy story writing because they got manipulated by ufotable's tax evasion animations xZabuzax said: My reply 100% addressed the useless and irrelevant issue that you fabricated. That scene could’ve never been included and you wouldn’t have been able to make an issue out of it. You also seem to have completely misunderstood the reasoning for that scene. Are you going to complain about Mitsuri’s or Rengoku’s unnatural hair colors not being explained next? lol. I don't need an extremely deep, complex story from this, just something that makes a bit more sense, that's all I'm asking. I expected a better answer from this, I even gave an example with Tanjiro's nail growing larger with a waterfall hit and you ignored that and went further with your explanation which didn't address the issue in the first place. And no, I won't complain about Mitsuri’s or Rengoku’s unnatural hair colors not being explained either because it doesn't matter, they were simply born like that, however, if I see that a freaking fireball hits them and their hair suddenly turns like that then yeah, I will need an explanation from the sudden hair color change with the freaking fireball. Yeah, it is lazy story writing to me, you may disagree with it but it's my opinion, I obviously disagree with yours too. Assume you said is true then did he get any side effects from it other than color hair change? No nothing. After he got hit hes there like "oh okay i got hit by a lightning and my hair changed, time to do some training again". Thats pure bs zenitsu was fragile not to mention a kid people at his age would die or simply paralyzed but for him neither of those happened.Thats why its a bs scenario since theres no story behind of how he actually survived it |
