Add a "finished" category for animes on your list, and a new way to calculate rewatch.

Some people who watch anime with filler will skip that filler, but still count their anime as completed, which is incorrect (I believe at least). So, therefore, I suggest that we add a "finished" category for animes where you have watched the anime from beginning to end, but without having watched the entirety of it (Skipping filler episodes). It's like playing a game but skipping the side missions. That's what the finished category will represent. In this way, we can have more accurate stats, without having to worry about whether or not the anime we just watched counts as completed or not, since if you count an anime as completed on MAL, it'll count in every single episode of that entry, even if you didn't watch all of them.

Now, why the word finished? Well, the difference between completed and finished is that completed means you have done everything there is to do, which means it has been perfected 100%, whereas finished simply means that you have ended something. You don't have to have done everything, heck, you don't even need to have reached the literal end. This means that for an anime to count as finished, you will simply need to have watched the first episode, and the last episode (Even though I said earlier that finished is meant to represent the removal of filler, but MAL doesn't have a "filter" system that sorts filler from canon, and there are also mixed canon/filler episodes, so it'll end up being a mess if you counted those as well). I know I just said that you don't even need to have reached the end of something for it to be counted as finished, but the thing is, dropped already exists for animes that you didn't watch from beginning to end. If you stop midway through, you have dropped it. Therefore, to make sure that finished isn't just a complicated version of Dropped, you will have to have watched the first and last episode of the anime. Of course, this would mean that you can't use this category for stuff like a movie, or any other entry on MAL that only has 1 thing to count.

For this to work, it would require a system where you have to checkmark which episodes you watched specifically, so that MAL actually knows if you watched the first and last episode or not. This would mean that the number that currently represents the progress of the anime you've watched/are watching, will with this change, represent the amount of episodes you've watched instead.

Now, the purpose of my rewatching idea is for the same purpose as the finished suggestion. Creating better stats. Right now, when you choose to rewatch an entry, and you finish it, it will count every single episode of that anime, even if you might've only wanted to rewatch a few episodes. So I suggest that we create three different categories of rewatching. Completed episodes, completed series, and finished series (This means that my finished idea will be entangled into this one, which is why these two ideas are being posted under one topic). When you choose to rewatch a series, you will have the ability to choose what you rewatch, whether that be a single episode, a few episodes, or the entire series. This will also mean that when you finish rewatching, you will have the ability to choose whether or not your anime is completed or finished, or you can choose neither of these (Which means that you only watched some episodes). When that has been done, you can click the submit button.

I hope I explained myself well, and that you understand.
