Idk. There’s been just less new manga series the past couple of years. A LOT of light novels and quite a bit of “web manga” series. I’m only 16 but I’m on team boomer here. I prefer the physical book. (The below part you can skip)

It’s just super nostalgic (like going to the library for diary of a wimpy kid books when I was younger) and doesn’t feel the same to me. I’m also quite stubborn to change and enjoy having the collection. Same deal with video games. I like the physical because I can do what I want with it! Give it to a friend to borrow, sell it in a few years, play “dodge-disc video game edition (:”

Basically I KNOW why not every series gets a physical release and WHY more and more light novels come out over manga: It’s easier to make and it costs less time and money. But I wanna hear opinions from other people (especially people who prefer digital books)

I strongly prefer physical rather than digital even if I have read more manga digitally. Imo it's way easier on the eyes and more convenient. Also that smell of a newly opened book is a plus.

When i was in highschool i'd only read physical because they had a library with it and i had a cultured teacher who'd bring his collection to rent to students , but these days its always digital , i'd so both if i could but alas its quite pricy and space consuming.

Both have their strengths. Reading physical manga is a more unique experience + it's cool in general to have a physical collection.

Digital is great for basically just consuming more overall, since you can't really expect to fill up your entire house with physical volumes. + for me at least it tends to read quicker

Depends. I read digital more though.

I prefer physical for just reading or having something to flip through. But if the text is small I find it awkward (more so than actual novels with small text weirdly enough) but with others it can be much bigger and not so bad.

I read manga on my phone when digital rather than a PC/Laptop and when I find for physical it can be just as awkward in an actual book I do get a bit annoyed. With series with later panels it's fine but with smaller it can be annoying on the size of the text and speech bubbles.

With digital its either easy to find something to read (and the translations are caught up more, and depending on the app/website I may not need to rescale it to be readable.

Reading the text is more a priority for me. I enjoy having a physical book with the few series I have picked up a handful of volumes for (started getting into physical that I know I'm going to read) but mostly reading digital as I've picked up more niche series I want to read that way which I'm more into than the popular physical that have come out that I have no interest in reading.

Physical manga feels better, well yes maybe they're sometimes expensive but it's worth the money and experience. Also I would much likely absorbed to the story when reading physical manga.

I own both.

I love reading physical at home and will never bring it out of my house. I like to read it in bed when I want to relax.

I love reading digital when I'm away from home. I'll visit a relative and stay over and it's nice to have manga to read digitally. But I also read it when I'm online, I'll play Netflix or music while I read.

I also read online, but only if it's not translated into English or French yet.

I own around 250 physical manga and around 1,000 digital manga. I like that digital is cheaper, but also I've been collecting these for ten years so it was and is a slow and steady race to reading and owning all my favourite manga!

Digital because that way I have everything in one place which I can read anywhere and it doesn't occupy physical space.

I actually prefer digital, as I prefer to read a screen, and physical manga is too expensive in my country.

I've read both physical and digital manga. Digital manga is much more convenient since it doesn't cost an eye and a leg like physical manga volumes do.

My biggest regret: Reading all 200+ chapters of Kanojo, Okarishimasu

Yeah it costs a bit, but I also use my manga (and light novels) as decorations (the Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid books go on the left side of my Bearded Dragon’s desk. His name is “Milk :D” ) but when (IF) I get a girlfriend it’s gonna be hard to explain why the heck my room has books scattered all over

Physical is better imo but often times they are quite a bit more expensive and it can be a space issue.

Hilariously enough I didn’t think to buy a bookshelf till a few weeks ago. I also store my Blu-ray’s and collector’s items in it. Plus the top of the bookshelf makes great storage for consoles and things.

But no mater how much compact storage I’ve got it doesn’t lower the price of books :/

Physical because that's how I like to read books. Though, I don't mind reading manga online and might even pay for it too. I guess you could say both.

I am more inclined to reading a physical light novel tho.
