I've seen a LOT of people with After Story in their favorites, but I have NEVER seen one with normal Clannad. I know you're suppose to watch Clannad first to watch AS but is it worth investing my time with? I have a lot of time in the summer to watch anime but I wanna have a good time but I don't want to watch weird stuff like cheesy shojo-romances or weird shonens with no plotline

You can’t watch After Story without the setup that the first season provides. It won’t have the same impact. The first season is still good, it’s just a slightly slow but entertaining romance show, it’s just not the reason that people praise the series so much

In my opinion the first season of Clannad is so boring and hard to watch at times, but it is necessary to fully understand the depth of Clannad AS. In the first season everything builds up to where the story takes the viewers on AS. If you think about it, it’s kinda like skipping to the action/climax of a movie without watching the first part, if that makes any sense.

If the point of your question is "should I watch both seasons?", then yes, you should if you decide that watching the series is worth your time.

Also, the fact that After Story is in more people's favourites does not mean that most people seen After Story without seeing the first season at all. That's a false equivalent. It's just that After Story is the best part of the story that season 1 builds up to.

Yes, it is worth your time, Clannad After Story is better, but Clannad is still great. Furthermore, you can't skip the first season and expect to still get the same enjoyment out of the second season.

bro Normal clannad don't have favorite because S2 WAS BETTER and also all ppl aren't MAL SUPPORTERS, they have limited 10 places so After story fits in.

Clannad s1 and s2 both are amazing. S2 is thr best 10/10 but s1 was 8.5/10, not bad and 100% worth time. After watching tell me how much you laughed and how muched you felt sad

yes CLANNAD IS SAD, both s1 and s2 but s1 was little funny in the beginning, try watching it, I'll recommend it 100% if u like romance and SOL

You can watch it in like 4 hours if you just watch the dub on x2 ...its how I watch everything nowadays..I know right shocking people actually do this ...season 1 world builds from what I remember...season 2 makes ya cry like a baby haha...Its a romance story thats very good 😂😂

Imo Clannad was an amazing show with or without After Story (though After Story is one of the best shows I’ve ever watched). Like legit it doesn’t slow down has great characters and has the best mixture of drama and comedy. Defs worth a watch

This isn't Naruto. In order to appreciate the characters you need to watch both seasons. People say Clannad was boring but it wasn't that bad to me personally. I watched it without even knowing that there was a after story in 2920. Obviously After Story is one of the most emotionally engaging things you'll ever watch so make your choice. But the pay off to suffer through around 21 episodes of it's boring to suffer through 8 enjoy yourself for 9 and kill yourself 4 is worth it

You need to watch Clannad to get to After Story. It's called that for a reason. Be thankful you aren't reading the visual novel, which is like 300 hours long. (I'm reading it)

In my opinion if you’re thinking about checking out After Story then I would say check out the first part as well. It builds up to the sequel. Although After Story is definitely where the story gets great, the first part of clannad is decent.

Clannad is a lot more than "cheesy shojo-romances", and if you don't like it, it just means it wasn't made for you. The show is worth watching specifically because of the sequel, After Story.
