Subs or Dubs?

I was just wondering if people preferred their anime subtitled or dubbed.

Myself, I personally like subtitled anime with the original Japanese voices retained. I can't stand dubs since the English voice cast can't seem to get the character's voices quite right. I know this doesn't apply to all of the dubs, but a good lot of them just aren't cutting it for me.

i like subtitles better than dubs in the majority of what i've watched. It just feels more real with the japanese voice actors cause they can express their emotions waaay better. but when i watch anime in english before watching it in japanese, it doesnt sound to bad for me, like inuyasha in english sounds better to me, probably because i got use to it.

I prefer subs mostly, but it really depends on the show.

ex: Cowboy Bebop. Excellent dub.
Fruits Basket - Excellent dub.
Baccano - Excellent dub, shitty japanese dub because of all of the 2000s pop references even though the show takes place in the 1930s. >_>;
DB/Z - Dub voices are better, IMO. They fit the characters better, however the Japanese uncut scripts are awesome. XD

I think those are the only ones I can think of. Although Trigun has a good dub too.

Subs for me, emotions are expressed way better.

But yeah some dubs are good too, eg. Fruits Baskets. However, something like Naruto which i started off dubbed i prefered the subbed version afterwards, so it depends on the dubbed quality.

subs. I cannot stand subs at all. I had the misfortune of giving dubs a chance again recently. So I decided to watch an episode of Lucky star dubbed. BIG MISTAKE. I didn't think it was possible but my ears were actually raped from the horridness. Almost as bad as the azumanga Daioh dub.

I think the only dub that was ever decent was cowboy bebop. the dub voices actually match up pretty well to the japanese voices. However that is the exception.

As I see it, it shouldn't really matter. I mean in the end, if i had to watch it in a dub I wouldn't say no (unless it's steel angel kurumi) Really though, it doesn't really matter all that much, as long as you get the content int he end, right? Sometimes a dub is done very poorly and makes you wanna rip your ears out, but sometime it ain't so bad and every once in a while, it's actually closer to what they writers envisioned.

Give dubs a chance, what's the worst that can happen? You have your ears raped by 1000 thorny phalluses. Not too bad right? xD

Subs are fine only if I can't find a dubbed version. Reading small text at the bottom of the screen while trying to concentrate on the action onscreen is a daunting text.

Don't forget, all you you people who refuse to watch it 1 way or another, be glad you don't have to use SCRIPTS anymore. Old people ;P actually had to read a piece of paper while watching 4th gen vhs tapes of dubious quality. I had to use a script a while ago an it's a pain. After that, Id be glad for any method, dub or sub that takes less effort.
I love modern conveniences like mkv containers!

I don't want to be bleeding from the ears each time I watch anime, thank you very much...

Are you serious? SCRIPTS!? Geez, you're one dedicated fan. I can imagine a lot of pausing, since you have to look back and forth between the script and the screen.

I'm in the middle, but I voted for dubbing. I enjoy either, but I find myself watching dubbed versions when the dubbing ends up really good. There are some anime that I like the dub, but the Japanese voices are better, but I still like to watch them dubbed. I find it less distracted when I'm watching something in my native tongue. I'm sure this will change after I take my required Foreign Language in college.

I like the voice for Kenshin Himura in dub better than sub. But I liked the dub and sub voices in Ouran High School Host Club equally.

For me, it all depends which I watch first. If I watch it in dub first, the sub version just seems wierd and vice versa.

Besides just getting used to a voice, I don't really see what is so bad with either. I'll watch an anime in either style, but I have to stick with it throughout the whole series.

Subs, definitely.
I don't know English so well to watch anime with dubbing... (fine, my English is just terrible -_-)
Honestly, your pronunciation, accent, deglution endings (eh, I hope you understand me... -_-') is really hard to understand.
Subs are more easier. Because when you can see how is that word written, you easily find it in dictionary... and understand :)

Besides, japanese is really amazing language :) Seiyuu like Takeuchi Junko, Paku Romi, etc. ... It's a pity to not listen them, don't you think?

Sorry for my English ^^
