Hi, I just noticed the following:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Kaze_Hikaru_chapters

According to wikipedia, this series has a total of 41 volumes as of june 2019.

English publishing started in 2006, in its peak there were 5 volumes released in one year. Then it died down in 2011 and since then, they release one volume per year.

The latest release was volume 27 in 2019. So it could take another 16 years to catch up with the japanese release. Maybe even longer, depending on how fast new japanese volumes will be released in the future.

Any guess why the demand for this series subsided roughly after volume 17?

Do you think there is a chance that it will increase again?

I'm guessing being historical shojo drama isn't the most popular choice for over here. I'm also guessing that there's some reason they can't outright abandon the series. If they could abandon both Reborn and Gintama due to low sales, there's no way this is anywhere near them in terms of sales. Perhaps with the series ending soon though, they might up the volumes per volume (if not per year) to try and pump more of it out

The series is confirmed to end next year, so for all we know, Viz might pump out more volumes to catch up to the Japanese releases.
