Hello good folks. I've been reading To Your Eternity and Land of the Lustrous and it put me in the mood to find more manga series that are somewhat similar to that. Problem is it's kinda hard to specifically nail down what exactly I enjoy about these types of series... An unusual premise with a melancholic and philosophical tone? With a dash of violence? And good character writing as well?

Other series that would fit that bill that I have read & enjoyed are:

Berserk, Blame!, Dorohedoro & Maken X, Yorukumo, Children of the Sea, Saturn Apartments, Made in Abyss, Narutaru (and anything by Mohiro Kitoh), Loveless, Mermaid Saga, SHE The Ultimate Weapon, Lucifer & Biscuit Hammer.

Plus a bunch that have aspects of what I want but I did not enjoy them quite as much for various reasons: Frankenfran, Übelblatt, Claymore, Gantz, Ajin, Tokyo Ghoul, Dead Dead Demon Dedededestruction, Elfenlied & Brynhildr in Darkness, Gleipnir. (EDIT) More: Eden it's an Endless World, Fire Punch, Tokyo Ghoul, Dragonhead, King of Thorns, Blade of the Immortal, Attack on Titan, Magical Girl of the End, Promised Neverland, Mirai Nikki, MW & Black Jack by Ozamu Tekzuka.

I'll gladly take anime recommendations as well, though they are even harder to come by than manga. The only examples I can think of are:

Kaiba, Tenshi no Tamago, Kino's Journey, Mushishi, Haibane Renmei, Lain, Texhnolyze, Malice@Doll, Mankind has declined, Alien 9, Madoka Magica, Simoun, Wolf's Rain.

In any case, thank you for your time.

Ghost in the Shell: Man-Machine interface is one of the most difficult manga I've read. Feels closer to reading a book. I'd recommend it for philosophical scifi manga

Ah I've actually read some of Hiroki Endo's work, forgot to add that to the list. Eden definitely fits what I want as well.
