The Problem With MHA in My Opinion

Let me start by saying I love MHA and it’s in my top 10 shounen of all time so far already , me saying this is just me wondering if it’s only me that feels this way . I honestly feel like MHA doesn’t do it’s side characters enough justice , yes they have their little moments but alot of their moments are so small that it’s like they don’t matter as much or to word it better it’s not really memorable and alot of the arcs are too short imo and while I think it’s a good thing it’s also a bad thing because it’s hienstky just point a to point b without alot of inbetween if that makes alot of sense . I feel like too many characters are just there to fill up slots and it sucks because I like alot of them . Yes I had read the manga but even then the same issue applies and I’m probably gonna get hate for saying this but the females really don’t do anything really besides Momo and she’s not even the heroine . She’s already had more memorable and meaningful moments than uraraka and while uraraka isn’t Sakura , she’s not that far from it at this point because even Sakura had her moments as well . She just feels like a love interest and that’s it right now and while she still gets development I just don’t think she’s had the same spotlight and character moments as Momo imo . These are the characters I feel like don’t get enough spotlight or just storytime in general

Kaminari has so much potential but is barely given spotlight his quirk can be op
Shoji
Twinkle boy
Invisible girl
Jirou
Sugar boy
kouda
Sero
Tokoyami for Christ sake has so much potential but he’s barely given spotlight

I know these characters have little moments and dialogue but their never the center or a pivotal component of arcs unless it’s a tournament or exam arc and even then their moments get shafted by deku and bakugo which is understandable because they are the two main characters but also Iida and todoroki have way more moments that stand out than the rest of the class . Like i said I read the manga so I’m aware of where the story is now but even then the most these characters do is have dialogue every so often and their moments aren’t as big as the others . Maybe I’m wrong but I just wanted to know if I was the only one that felt like a lot of these characters don’t get enough spotlight or huge moments .

I think so too. But MHA has so many characters that it would probably be too time consuming to develop all of them.
Though I think class 1-A will continue to get fleshed out more as the series goes on. For example, Kirishima and Aoyama have both recently recieved some fleshing out, albeit not very much.

Yea your post sums up my problems with almost every shounen anime ever epecially that about the female characters they don't even have the potential to become useful in the future because their quirks are so weak.

I meant that none of them have even the potential to beat any strong villains because their quirks are weak. They aren't sakuras but still don't do all that much.

One of the weaker parts of this series to me are the villains. They don't really feel threatening and that kind of hurts the intensity. There is one yet to come that satisfied me though so I'm excited for the events coming up promptly.

I think that we need to give the series time to give spotlight to the side characters. From the manga, we can clearly see the flow of the arc made. Big arc, small arc, and big arc. And from each of this arc, usually one side character will be given more development than the others. Like the sports festival arc, todoroki get the biggest development, stain arc is iida, school camp arc... well few got small but good development, the hideout raid arc we get more shigaraki and all might, the license arc is sort the same as the camp, the overhaul arc we get kirishima and few pro heroes, the latest arc we get jiro(not sure the right name). So just give time to this but i do agree the girls didnt get much attention. During the overhaul arc i thought we will get more ochako and tsuyu but they seem to be forgotten.

The girls are better than most shounen, but they still suffer from a lot of the same problems. Ochako's almost-win against Bakugo was honestly the best she's going to get in the series.
