I don't watch a lot of anime actually and I did start hxh few days back but during the 1st episode got bored.
So I would be happy if someone can explain why it's worth watching and main features of show WITHOUT SPOILERS!!.

Welp...Hunter X Hunter is a pretty damn good series easily on my top 5 of all time, I will try to explain the main features from this show

+2011 version is animated for Madhouse, that means high quality action scenes and good production values

+There is a lot of strategy concerning battles I mean, in a regular shonen battles are almost every time mindless will duels, but in HXH the winner is not usually the stronger, or the fastest but the smartess who can achieve victory, the main cast is usually a lot weaker that the enemies and they need to be creative and flexible to overcome every encounter

+For a shonen anime, it gets a lot darker and violent as the series progress, BUT it does not have gore at all, so is safe to watch if you dont like that sort of things...

+There are alot of likeable characters, maybe the MC is kinda cliché but you will end up liking them a lot

+The Kimera Ant ark is pretty damn good!!!

YES HOLY FRICK

there's really so much to hxh like, I very clearly remember being bored with the first episode but as the series progressed, it increasingly got better and better

words can't really explain how good the series; it's really once in a blue moon that you could find a series this good

You know for the longest time I had delayed watching it. I didn't like character design, they were too young even for Shonen anime (I maen Rakudan had 16 yo proposing, almost having sex but it's 16 years old nothing unusual).

Decided to give it a try.

Was bored for the first few episodes. But there had to be a reason why people liked it so much, so I stuck around, why not. I mean I prefer romance/drama with some action (again Rakudan just went to one of my favorites despite me not liking fanservice) or just romance/drama, but I was in the mood for good old kid fun where all I cared about are action sequences and adrenaline. Then Hisoka appeared. That scene made me stick with the show. And it got so good. So much story for an action show, fights were great albeit not as explosive as lets say Naruto, characters are fleshed out, not just forgotten like in other shows. And no fillers. I absolutely enjoyed it, and then I saw that manga was constantly on hiatus. I kept reading and read everything up until now. Story just keeps branching out. But waiting for new chapter is just ughghghgh. But I stuck with Berserk through year long waits I'll do this too.

So yes it's well worth watching, just stick out until exam starts and it gets better.

-Best anime fights

-Well written characters

-The final arc will make you cry (probably)

-The main villain literally gets a boner while fighting

-no fillers (except 2 recap eps, but that hardly counts)

Hell yes! I came to the show thinking that it was a silly kids show but I was wrong! The chimera ant arc was my favorite arc. It takes commited to the show.
Go back to being a naked monkey, sweetie!

Oh right then my bad. Wid all the sex things I figured it could be a spoiler.
Nonetheless I had the exact same thoughts.
The kid who does fishing in the first episode he looks weird like some sort of rip off of goku.
But after seeing your perspective I am definitely gonna give it a go.
Sad thing is my mid term exams start this week so can't start hxh for atleast 2 weeks

Hunter x Hunter (2011) is my top number 1 favorite shonen anime ever. at first I thought is there any fighting shonen super power anime that is long episode but at least go up to 9/10. I watched bleach, naruto series, one piece, fairy tails but none of them is worth 9/10 on myanimelist rating. after that, I saw hunter x hunter got 9/10 and just 3 episodes I watched and it is so damn good. my choosen is HXH 2011. gintama is a screwdriver to me. man, people love to high rating parody including comedy and fighting stupid huh? but HXH is suit for me and just exactly what I'm looking for at age of 18

Alright lets start with the story.
+ There is actually a story behind everything happening....
+ As they already mentioned above, freaking MADHOUSE BRO!!!!!
+ Great character development and backstory, especially some of the characters *cough* killua *cough*
+ Freaking amazing fights.

its an anime worth wasting 1 week 24/7 in front of your screen XD

just here to say that Gon isnt a typical shounen protagonist, if you look into it he's actually a sociopath, check some videos on YT about his morality and you'll get what im saying

Hxh has some of the greatest villains in anime and probably the best ones among battle shounen.

I've noticed this is a pretty unpopular opinion, but i didn't like hunter x hunter at all. I made it 15 episodes in before i finally gave up. If hxh was one of the first shonen anime i'd seen i might have loved it, but i honestly greatly preferred Naruto's and One piece's first 15 episodes compared to hxh's. It was just so generic and boring to me.

Again, most people adore this anime, so i'd recommend watching it. Chances are you'll love it too~

HxH is older than Naruto so the Hunter exam can't be considered generic imo
and the story gets better around episode 40 or so for me. Phantom Troupe is my favorite arc.

Older stuff can't be considered generic? Okay, I guess...?
And HxH also only had just one good arc. After that it becomes more and more terrible so she doesn't miss much. This show is extremely overrated.

It's well worth watching opening is good+ending the character development and villians and etc it's a anime that's worth the tremendous arcs in the anime and it's worth the 148 episodes + the 2 movies.

It has been quite a while since I made this post, now in retrospect, and after recommending this show to a lot of people, I say, YES! absolutely worth watching, what this show manages in 148 eps is much better than anything else i've seen so far, like dbz, bleach, naruto, one piece. The only close rival to it could be BNHA, speaking strictly in terms of progression ( in all apsects ) with number of episodes.

It does take a while to catch on, for some, but it is a damn good show,it wouldn't be rated so highly otherwise.

Yes someone did say popular opinion is shit, but when its this popular, it is usually not.
