I'm sure that a lot of people, just like myself, are confused about the episode counts and the number of seasons. The thing is that the Japanese episodes are twice the length of the Chinese episodes and also combines several seasons into one season.

At first I started marking episodes I'd watched wrong. I'm now gonna try to help others not do the same mistake. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Season #, episode count, episodes in JP, name:
1, 13, 1-7, Huyao Xiao Hongniang.
2, 14, 7-14, Huyao Xiao Hongniang: Wangquan Fugui.
3, 13, 14-20, Huyao Xiao Hongniang: Yue Hong.
4, 8, 21-24, Huyao Xiao Hongniang: Beishan Yaodi.
5, 10, 25-29, Huyao Xiao Hongniang: Qian Yan.
6, unknown, 30-unkown, Huyao Xiao Hongniang: Nan Guo.

At the time of writing this the Japanese dub is on episode 20. That means that it has covered the first three seasons of the original and the next episode will be starting the fourth season.

The last season hasn't been aired in China yet. It will begin airing on 24 Nov. The Japanese adaption has 9 more episodes (season 4 and 5) before it has caught up to season 6, so there's plenty of time and if that season is long enough the Chinese and Japanese versions might end at the same time.

That is of course if the Japanese version will be longer than 24 episodes. I saw one place claim that this season will only be 24 episodes, but that place if sometimes wrong about these things.

------

I'll do some "math".
Next week the first season of season 6 will air. In the same week the Japanese dub will air episode 21. When the Japanese version airs the first episode of season 6 the Chinese version will air episode 10. The Japanese version will cover the story at twice the rate.

C:J (#)
10:2 (30)
11:4 (31)
12:6 (32)
13:8 (33)
14:10 (34)
15:12 (35)
16:14 (35)
17:16 (36)
18:18 (37)

The sixth season needs to be 18 episodes long to end at the same time in both versions. Considering the length of previous seasons that seems unlikely to happen.

Bravo!

I'm fairly certain that Enmusubi no Youko-chan only has two cours, 24 episodes. The end of the Beishan Yaodi arc is a very good stopping point, bringing the main storyline to a temporary closure. The Japanese dub of the following seasons may come out after season 6 airs in China.

The upcoming season 6 is a hefty one. It addresses one of the fundamental problems of reincarnation matchmaking: Are reincarnations considered different individuals with free wills? There will be more world building, character development, and relationship development for both our main couples and secondary couples.

Nitpicking here.
Season 5 has 15 episodes: 49-63.
Season 6 starts from episode 64.

Well, I can only go by what MAL says and MAL says 10 episodes.

MAL is wrong. I hope mods fix it when they get around to it.

Sounds very much like something you SHOULD have made a new post about as it is indeed off-topic for this thread.

Kiss anime has episodes up to 87 ep 24 are about where the japanese version ends

edited:
9anime has the seasons separated. I found it easiest to use the information above to watch it. I suggest watching ep 1-24 on the jap side simply because it takes 2 10 minute episodes and condenses it so less loading times. ep 1-24 can be found on crunchyroll. Around ep 48 in the Chinese version is where it will pickup from. From now on the episodes will be about 12 minutes long (of actual episode) lots of feels.

POTENTIAL SPOILER**
Each season focuses on a different "side" character. If you in the past found the different "filler" arcs boring then you are missing out on the entire point/substance of this show.

Not surprising they didn't go further. After the Japanese version they basically deleted the main characters, and constantly focus on other destined couples. pretty messy imo as the writing just isn't good enough for that so every episode is basically mc waiting room.
