Manhattan Love Story! It's so good! Quirky, funny, romantic... I love it!

Also about halfway through Joudan Janai, but it's pretty tame and I'm already a bit bored by it.

I actually really enjoyed it. It gets a bit...whiney in the middle (right around 12 or so) but then picks up in the end. It has some really good twists to the characters that you usually don't see in a K-drama. Definitely suggest it.

Just finished up 5 of You're Beautiful. I definitely agree to it being my favorite drama of the season. But its strange, I was looking at the stats on DramaWiki, it was ranked 18th for the last ep. that seems really really low to me ^^ its such a good drama.

Ohitorisama- best jdrama of the Fall 2009 season? Looks like it me.
You're Beautiful - Most addictve (and cheesy) kdrama I have seen in a looong time. Perhaps the new sensation everyone's been waiting for!

Also Soul, Hancho, Kamen Rider w, and Kamen Rider Amazon.

I thought this season would be pretty boring but not only have I found good dramas, subbers have been fast lately.
Currently watching:

- You're Beautiful
- JIN
- Ohitorisama
- Shokojo Seira

"You're Beautiful" is loads of fun. Ridiculously funny and cute.
"Jin" is awesome, about a modern doctor that's transported 800 years into the past. Since healthcare is my field of study, I'm enjoying this immensely!
"Ohitorisama" is a more down-to-earth drama, but still funny. Reminds me a bit of "Love Revolution" and "Around 40".
"Shokojo Seira" is based on one of my favourite children's stories... "A Little Princess", but it doesn't have the same feeling. It has potential for romance, though I'm sure it won't be explored. So far so good, let's see the other episodes.

Now watching:
JIN - a slow begining of the first episode, but it gradually catched me. Awesome mix of medical and hitorical theme and much more. *TOTALLY EXCITED*
My Girl (2009) - Aiba + an ultimate cute little girl, a touching story and somehow...well, maybe it reminds me Koizora for some reason
Tokyo Dogs - an action story, which seems to turning into being much more like popular comedy with tons of Hiro+Oguri fanservice than police action. Although I enjoy the first episode, it´s a bit disappointing, becauce I have been looking forward it soooo long.
Atsu-hime - very nice romance / costume historical series with Miyazaki Aoi as lead. Oh, my kimono mania...

Hey, there is such a strong feeling of enthusiasm about You're Beautiful. *listening A.N.JELL music at the moment* Now I want to watch it too....

to algelic: Jin jumped only 150 years back. So...

Just watched first episode of Ohitorisama. It´s really good and very enjoyable. Elite woman and cute good-for-nothing Koike Teppei? Yes! It is a romantic comedy with the exactly the same sense of humour just like my favourite Kimi wa petto, but its setting is school and teachers.

I´m interested in Gyne (theme) and Untouchable too (because of leading actors), but I will propably have no time to go to watch it and check it. My watching list is getting longer and longer with dangerous speed...

Did you download the English subtitles or Japanese subtitles, first of all? There are, so far, only English subs for the first 2 episodes of Otomen.

Assuming you downloaded the English subs, you may be missing the codec necessary to display subtitles. Uninstall whatever you have on your computer (including VLC and similar all-in-one programs) and switch to using CCCP, which can be obtained here: http://cccp-project.net/

CCCP comes bundled with Media Player Classic, which is the perfect player for playing soft subs like those for Otomen.

Once you have CCCP installed, or if you're already using it (or if you're just too lazy/don't care), you must make sure the subtitle file and the video file have the same file name, and are located in the same folder on your computer. For example:

Video: Otomen episode 1.avi
Subs: Otomen episode 1.srt (the file extension might be .ass but I don't remember and I'm not going to check for you)

If you have completed all of the above, the subtitles should display automatically when you open the video file. If not, and you have DirectVobSub installed (which you would if you installed CCCP), locate the little green arrow on your taskbar, right-click it and select the subtitle stream from the menu.

Ta Da!

For future reference:
1) "They don't work" is not enough information. Remember to share what kind of player your using, codecs you have installed, etc.
2) If you downloaded them at D-Addicts, you should ask for technical help at D-Addicts.
3) On D-Addicts, for example, I know they have a forum for technical problems, and they probably also have a FAQ or guide that explains how to gets subs to work. However, these kinds of guides exist everywhere, thus we do not have one here.

Besides watching "You're Beautiful", "Jin", "Shokojo Seira" and "Ohitorisama"... I've recently tried these dramas:

- "Real Clothes" - The concept is interesting but the actors lack the charisma to make it shine. In the end it's just a mediocre drama and I wonder if I should waste my time.

- "Gyne" - YES! Another medical drama! NO! What kind of characters are those? -__- The subject is fascinating, but the supposedly main character is like a rock. I wonder if it's bad acting from the actress or just badly developed writing. I'm giving it another 2 or 3 episodes to decide wether I should continue.

lol. You're Beautiful is AWESOME. It's a comedy so it's not meant to be serious. I think the acting is quite good. And her character is supposed to be totally dense!

If YB is awful, what do you consider to be a good drama? =P

lol I know it's not supposed to be serious, I watch a lot of dramas for fun, good romances or comedy, my favorites are Coffee prince, My Girl, Dal ja's spring, my lovely sam soon... so I don't think I'mhard to please ! But this one....
I really do not understand its hype, i really liked the plot at first, but after 4 episodes i can't. I can't stand the girl's acting, she runs and acts like a baby, she is so stupid, everything is over-acted. I know, asian dramas can be very childish sometimes, and I like it most of the time, but here I think It crosses the line.

Just started the first season of Liar Game, just as I am about to finish with Satorare.

Also watching JIN, Ohitorisama, Untouchable, Tokyo Dogs and You're Beautiful on a weekly basis.

Plus 2 Kamen Rider series that I'm sure you guys don't care about.

There is interesting discussion about My Girl, so I would like to add my thoughts as well. My Girl is actually very cute. I´m watching it too, not because of aim to watching "super good high-quality" series but beacause of its heartwarming atmosphere. During watching My Girl, I can have a rest whenever I start to fee tol be tired by that famous blockbusters. (They are doing massive BIG BANG boom exciting news all the time, so I gladly welcome switching to something more "average" but still cute and quite watchable.)
It definetely worth to see as side-watching series at the moment, I think, in case you have enough free time. It is a typicall series, which you can choose in order to spend some nice time while you are waiting for next subbed episodes of your most desired dramas.
And yes, I was made Aiba fan too. His "father good-for-nothing" portrayal is not based on "professional" acting skills but rather on a honest effort to take care about the five years old princess in proper way. It prefectly fits to his character. The little princess is usually dressed in pink clothes and she sometimes seems to have more wisdom than her sudden-discovered adult father.
So what we mean by saing "it is really cute, worth to see"? I give you an example: Can you imagine Aiba (in his "father good-for-nothing"mode) putting a hairpin into hair of THAT princess? Of course, the final hairstyle is going to be absolute mess, but she is patiently waiting in silence to the end of that terrible process and then she goes to the kindergarten proudly with her father´s ultimate haistyling...

For those of you watching "My Girl"... I think there's a similar but much better Jdrama: "Bara no nai Hanaya". Really touching!

I just started another drama... the taiwanese "Autumn's Concerto". I already watched (though somewhat fast-forwarding) all 7 subbed episodes!

It's pretty good for a taiwanese drama! The girl is likeable and the plot moves quickly. Now I'm just sad that I'll have to wait weeks to finish it! =(
