Well that is the basic idea. And please no harem/ecchi. That stuff just destroys the show for me.

The most anime like Avatar would have to be Magi which is one of my all time favorite series ever. You'll like it I think! : )

Well stuff like controlling the elements, action, fantasy, adventure. Saving the world is fine to, but that part isn't required.

I was told that Landlock is similar to Avatar: The Last Airbender. Maybe you will like it.

While some seems intresting, i don't know how you got them from "anime that is like avatar the last airbender. For example how did you get the idea with eureka seven or code geass? I don't think anyone in avatar used mechas or so on.

Both are worlds with dictadorships like the Fire Nation in Avatar and has military and warfare themes. Also, Eureka Seven is influenced by budism, and a religious group is based on buddist priests, like the airbenders in Avatar.

In Code Geass, the Britannian Empire kinda feels like the Fire Nation, but if you want shows with aesthetics more similar to Avatar, 12 Kingdoms and Kemono no Souja Erin would fit more. Another one could be Seirei no Moribito.

Flame of Recca - the main character, Recca, has the ability to summon/control Fire Dragons, his companions have varying abilities like controlling Ice, Wind, etc. Most of the villains also control some sort of element (Gideon controls Wood) etc.

Also try Law of Ueki.

EDIT:

If you don't mind older titles, try Magic Knight Rayearth, the 3 protagonists can each controll a different element, although there's only 3 (Fire, Water, and Wind)

If you haven't already, you should watch The Legend of Korra (not really an anime though)

I agree. It is a sequel to ATLA. There are also sequel books that take place after ATLA series, but before LOK.
