So I have watched Gosick many times now, purely because it is my favourite show of all time. I have tried many times to find similar shows with a generally similar style, but they don't seem to exist anywhere.

I've also found the recommendations section for Gosick's MAL page to be very lacking in quality - most of the time the idea is along the lines of detective show therefore similar. Same genre does not mean similar show or style.

So could you guys help me out on this one? I know Gosick is very unique, which is one of the many reasons why I love it, but I really wish I could find some more shows that I would enjoy. Thanks for your help

Since for some reason I haven't watched Gosick, I'm starting it now, and if it reminds me of something I've watched, which it probably will, I'll let you know. ;)

Ah, it's been a few years since I watched Gosick, but I remember having the same problem.

-Tasogare Otome x Amnesia (While also a very unique show, the romance is great, and the mystery is interesting.)
-Kamisama Hajimemashita (Also very unique and super cute)
-Higashi no Eden (Okay, this one is barely similar, but I'll put it here for the romance and mystery aspect)

Those are the only two I can think of with even slightly similar themes. However, I have a lot of romance recommendations!

-Akagami no Shirayuki (This one might belong with the top list, but it is a lot lighter than Gosick)
-Golden Time
-Kaichou wa Maid-sama
-Love Stage!! (Shounen-ai, but hilarious and cute. Many reviews from straight males enjoyed it as well, so if that's you, don't immediately rule it out!)

I mean I mostly watch romance anime so I could go on, but if you don't find anything better, maybe just check my list or personlly message me :) If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Thanks a lot blondiekk8 I will definitely give those a try, and I'll take a look at your list too :p I just wish Gosick style shows were more popular to be honest, I can't get enough of them!

Well, ok, but then you need to describe what you found appealing in Gosick if it was not the genre. After all, of course Dantalian no Shoka has a similar visual style and atmosphere. Kamisama no memochu has similar situations and themes. If these are not what you are looking for, what is it?

I loved the mystery, the unusual and unpredictable settings, Victorique's personality and most of all the art style. I love the way Victorique looks - there's just something about that kind of almost Victorian style that I enjoy.

I've seen Kamisama no Memochou, and I own it on DVD. And honestly I don't find that many similarities - it has an altogether different feel and style. The only thing similar was the fact that were was an unusual girl doing detective work. I enjoyed it sure, but it just isn't quite what I'm looking for

I am sorry then, but I think that like too many people in these recommendation forums, you are not looking for a similar anime; you are looking for the same anime. Think about what you wrote above and why you are unsatisfied with all the recommendations in the anime's section. You want an anime with mystery, a gothic feel and art style, a detective main character with victorica's looks and with plot twists and unusual locations.

The only piece of advice I can give you: broaden your search. If you do find a carbon copy of Gosick, you will only end up disappointed that it does not live to the original imprinted in you.

I am by no means looking for the same thing, just a similar feel. Victorique's style was great sure but that was just an example. I am not so sure that it is unreasonable to want an anime with a gothic feel etc and similar themes without it being the same thing. I think you have taken away the wrong idea from what I have said.

I don't want a carbon copy, the uniqueness is what makes it great. However, I have watched pretty much all of the recommendations section, and nothing even feels remotely similar. Given the fact that the rest of the anime industry loves to copy each other constantly, I find it to be very strange that I cannot find something with the style I am looking for to enjoy

I'd have said Dantalian no Shoka but it's the first recommandation with Gosick so I guess you didn't like it. :(
