| So I just read that many of the New 3DS XL's have TN displays as opposed to IPS. I just bought a Hyrule Edition New 3DS XL to replace my A Link Between Worlds 3DS XL. My ALBW 3DS has an IPS display so I was worried but thankfully my Hyrule Edition also has an IPS display. What do you guys think about this? Sounds super sketchy as fuck. I have an original 2011 3DS which has a TN display that's noticeably worse than the IPS displays my XL's have. It's one of the reasons why I like the XL more than the regular 3DS. |

| Sounds screwy, should they really be doing that stuff when messing with 3D? I figured this was a rant thread about defective models but... models being basically different models (screen difference as mentioned)... I don't know lol. |

| The problem is the massive difference in quality. The colors on the TN display are washed out whereas the IPS displays on the 3DS are much more vibrant. The worse part is the viewing angles. If you're not looking at your 3DS head-on, the picture gets distorted. You can see that here. Kind of defeats the purpose of the New 3DS since you're able to tilt the screen with 3D on now. |

| Reminds me of what they did with the Playstation Vita. The original screen was an OLED display and was superior visually but they swapped that out in the new vitas for a different screen. |

My sister has a 3DS and the second I look at it, my eyes start to hurt like crazy. Maybe the TN would help if I just wanted 3D :P I can handle like a 12-hour gaming session, but I can't handle 10 seconds of that 3D. lol 3D evidently tricks our eyes into doing more work afaik, so maybe my eyes are just weak.
