As the title says, should I?
It is long, and the animation is too old for my tastes, but then again I loved GitS.

So judging from my scores, should I give it a try?

You do seem to like a lot of feudal Japan based anime and the typical shounen humour, so give it a try? You can always drop it if it gets really annoying or something.

I see .

So here are some questions, and then I will judge if I should even give it a try:

-Does it have fillers? And if so, are there many of them?
-Does it actually have decent romance between the characters?
-Does it have stupid out of place comedy like One Piece and Gintama? (and by that I mean the times the comedy happens. Like everything is serious, and then BAM the MC or someone else acts like a retard and ruins the mood)
-And last but not least, does it have good fights?

Thank you for your answer btw.

I'll give you my humble opinion:

- Yes, it has fillers. Not that much, and you can easily find a list of all the fillers. The first time I watched Inuyasha, I watched all the fillers and liked most of them, except the ones that focussed on the minor characters.

- I think all the relationships in Inuyasha is what makes the anime so good. The romance (and friendships and other kinds of relationships, too) are so amazingly developed at a great pacing.

- Stupid and out of place comedy? Well, I like the comedy in Gintama and One Piece, so maybe I'm not the best person to say anything about this XD But aside from some suspense-breaking moments I think all the serious moments are treated completely seriously.

- It has good fights, in my opinion, but they can get repetitive at times.

Also, the first time I watched it I liked it a lot less than the second time (5 years later, haha). It's a hell of a long ride, but I think in the end it was definitely worth it. And Inuyasha has one of the most satisfying endings I've ever seen in anime.

Hey, Inuyasha is one of my favorite series and Im glad you are interested in it :D

-Does it have fillers? And if so, are there many of them?

Yes, Inuyasha does have fillers but those are not really boring. Most of those focus on side characters of the gang and romance development between them.
Fillers are usually placed after big fights.

-Does it actually have decent romance between the characters?

The romance its okay, but its super slow build (167 episodes) and there is a love triangle as well. There are more couples too.

-Does it have stupid out of place comedy like One Piece and Gintama?

It doesnt.

-And last but not least, does it have good fights?

Yes, Inuyasha has great fights.

That seems too edgy and harsh. So yeah, not gonna take your opinion into account.

I think you will. Inuyasha shares some similarities with Rurouni Kenshi (which you rated a 9). One similarity is the MC being not all good but slowly changing and developing into a better person. That and the atmosphere and setting of the anime can be very similar at times too. Though there's plenty to differentiate them so it's similar but also a new experience as well.

Does it have fillers? And if so, are there many of them?

Check this thread for the filler episodes
http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1335533

Inuyasha is the type that has a whole range of fillers. Some pretty bad and some that you wish you'd actually see in the canon storyline. I guess you can read an episode guide. If the episode sounds interesting enough watch it, if not skip it.

Does it actually have decent romance between the characters?

The romance is decent in my opinion but it develops over a long time. Also, both characters love to deny their feelings towards each other so if that frustrates you just keep it in mind.

Does it have stupid out of place comedy like One Piece and Gintama? (and by that I mean the times the comedy happens. Like everything is serious, and then BAM the MC or someone else acts like a retard and ruins the mood)
The show has comedy but it never goes over-the-top with it. It's always serious when it needs to be, and the comedy is only during light-hearted moments or specific filler episodes.

And last but not least, does it have good fights?
Of course but you'll see that eventually :)

Watched it when i was kid and rewatched it 2 times and i would say if you hate repetetive animes with poor romance don't watch it!! If you like good stories with history on them then it's OK!

Thread moved from anime and recommendations board.

I have also been wondering the same thing. I saw bits and pieces as a kid.

For anyone new asking themselves the same question, the answer is NO. Original team directing this series ran out of fumes near the end. You will notice a complete change of voice actors and animation style at the very end. It seems new project managers acquired this anime and wanted to wrap it up as soon as possible. Imo, this isn't a finished anime. There was a lot wasted potential that new project managers threw away and didn't bother since they wanted it off their hands it seems.

It's not something I would wholeheartedly recommend to others, but its creator, Rumio Takahashi, has lots of other good stuff. Try Princess Lum or Maison Ikkoku instead.

While it may be long and the animation old, I would say that, yes, you should indeed watch InuYasha - especially if you like Feudal Japan anime and whatnot.

As for myself, I immensely enjoyed watching it as a kid and fell - of course - in love with Inuyasha himself...though, Sesshomaru wasn't/isn't half-bad. ;)

I watched a few series by now and it looks like it is directed at teens audience mainly. But the way the story goes is pretty engaging, I like the relaxed manner and the innocence of young love, the characters are also pretty complex. Ah, and the mythology! I heard that the series has many historical references though I'm not strong in Japanese history. To summarize, it is nice and while its rating of BookWormLab.com is not the highest possible, and not everyone is going to love it, I believe you won't regret the time spent on watching.
