First version I found was a machine-trans job, was from a streaming site, then someone reconmended the deadfish releases for this (currently up to ep 4 I think) I'm going to have a look at those later, but what other options are there on this?

Deadfish is a reencode so less it's less size less quality. If you want quality and don't mind to wait a bit you should go with Underwater-µtw, it's the best group by far doing Ajin... Underwater was always good I think.

Abit like me i have watched episodes 1-3 from various groups like Ganborou, KamiFS, Tenchou, Underwater/UTW.

I decided to stick to KamiFS versions as the english and translation is pretty much flawless. They are not as speedy as Ganborou though but it's worth the wait as other groups release v2s to correct errors.

1. KamiFS - The best around for translation and quality of the release allbeit not as speedy as ganborou but well worth the wait. This group have added the benifits of a karaoke of the opening/ending songs with all signs being translated. The format of this release are 720p 10b and 8b softsubbed.

2. Ganborou - Fast Speedy Release but due to the nature expect mistakes. Still a pretty decent watch. This group are the first group to release week in week out. The format of this releases are 8bit softsubbed using ohys or leopard raws (A downer on the video quality on that note)

3. TenchouSubs - A group that has improved recently but do make alot of error still. With the others around best avoid this one.

4. Underwater/utw - No need to give this group a introduction. Unfortunately they have not lived up to there expections and are making errors on Ajin too. Better yet no attempt to fix or even release v2s. This is normally the last group to release so you would expect better. Format of release is x265 and softsubbed (Codecs Required For X265 Playback Not N00b Freindly)

5.Deadfish - Are Re-Encodes of Ganborou, KamiFS and underwater in order of release time. Format of release are hardsubbed mp4s. Benifits is that this will work on devices that are compatible to play mp4 videos. Due to the nature of re encoded anime do expect quality loss.

Crymore should do a review of all the Ajin Subbers.

Cheers guys

When I watched the ones from deadfish I did notice another groups name on the titles (decent that they don't try to hide the fact that they're just re-encoding for ease of release) I'm pretty new to looking around for the best releases and the info here is pretty good to know. I'm not using Torrent on this machine at the mo so that narrows my options a bit.

Props to all fansub groups btw, especially the ones digging in there and getting the job done on the shows that aren't being simulcast on crunchyroll etc. which is the case I think, with Ajin, and another one I'm looking around for is Reikenzan.

All else being equal my main requirement would be how a group handles honorifics (not counting the shows that are simply ripped from crunchyroll, as they are consistant in Anglicisation) but even someone making the effort to put out a machine-trans early on deserves some respect as its better than a raw if you're really keen on seeing the show
